the only mods on it in those videos was bearings and the 20 turn brushed motor. you can see just how agile they are. and the steering servo wasn't even anything special ether. it was like a $20 metal gear cheapie i picked up back in like 2000.

Makes sense. You can't have too much power with RWD on those little tires!

I just finished my new Proline Beetle shell. I put it on my extended chassis Rustler/Slash.

It's meant for 313mm crawlers. The proportions are very scale so I thought it would work nicely on a 2wd platform. I trimmed the fenders a bit and finagled the rear body mounts so they bend backwards at an angle to match the body lines.

finished up a little somethin somethin. the pic's don't really do the color justice. it's Proline pearl arctic blue. i was expecting something a little more silvery (like 1964 GM Silver Blue), but in person it's really blue. but it looks pretty cool with the flames (stickers) and black wheels.

this pic is the most accurate on how the color looks in person.

Bought me a boat off eBay. Dumas Deep Vee 21 from way back when. late 70s early 80s. Comes with a Futaba brownbox radio system and also a Heathkit single stick 8ch transmitter. $250. Not tea bag. Shouldn't be hard to get it going again. I would like to find a receiver for that Heathkit radio so I can test it, see if it works. Might pair it with my old VK Cherokee 60 if it works.

Also bought a 1200mm Skyhunter. Going to nitro convert it with one of my 10-class engines. OS Max II 15 RC, perhaps? Super Tiger G.11? Magnum 15? Enya 09 IV? COX Medallion 09 RC? Decisions decisions.

Lastly, eyeing up a bunch of stuff on eBay. Found a nitro Kyosho Blizzard, which has been on my want list for over 20 years. A couple more vintage nitro helis, some GP/EP airplane ARFs, couple vintage cars. All nitro stuff, of course. And I'm weighing that against potentially buying a 71" P-51D from Legend Hobby to throw my Super Tiger G3250 on; they're saying it's meant for 35cc gas engines and that G3250 hits like a 45-50cc gas 2-stroke so that will be a fun combo. Got a couple of scale fuselages in mind on HeliDirect for my GMP Cobra and JR Airskipper 50. Pondering one of Eureka's baby pattern ships, too.

Decisions decisions. Gonna be a busy build season for me.

Default SCX10ii Re-Engineering

I got an SCX10ii Deadbolt last year and a couple things always bugged me about it. I didn't like how the front axle pumpkin was right in the center. I also wanted the rear driveshaft to be centered. Other than that it's perfect. I like the simplicity and how the battery is up front. In order to address my concerns, I ended up installing an aftermarket front axle with an offset pumpkin. I also used an L-shaped steel bracket to rotate the transmission 90 degrees to clear the front battery tray and center the output shaft. I know it raises the center of gravity a bit but I don't mind.

finished gluing the tires for the Nitro RS4 2 and finally installed the new receiver pack. finally modified and installed the RPM receiver box for my RC10GT (that thing isn't mint for the old tub chassis). was working on figuring out a switch mounting location and wire routing but mosquitos came out (yes in December! it was around 70 degrees today) so i went in the house.
so i made some nitro progress!

Completed the hobby grade electronics upgrade for my Golden arrow, after having to get a longer M3 screw from a store for the new servo/servo saver. That old thing rips!

Stopped one RC from going nonstop after seeing how to adjust the trimmer in the car's circuit board (original golden arrow electronics). Now after some chassis repair work I may be able to get 2 of these ancient cars up and running!

no actual RCing this last week. weather wouldn't permit it (rain). but i have been uploading old videos to my RC youtube channel. mostly pulling old videos off my personal channel, maybe making a few edits, and putting them up on the RC channel. i have a lot more content than i thought, as of this post (still uploading) im up to 59 videos. ...and like 7 of them are actually good
anyway if you get bored maybe check out my channel, it's just running videos. https://www.youtube.com/@disgruntledrc

got a wild hair up my butt today and decided to do a little steering servo swapping. took the steering servos out of my Wheely King and RC10GT and put the Reedy servo from the GT into the Wheely King (which had already been replaced with a Hitec servo a few years ago). here's the kicker, on paper the Reedy servo has way more torque. in the truck the Hitec servo worked better. so i swapped everything back.
then i got into faze 2. i wanted more torque so i did some digging and found a longer servo horn and installed that. got the torque i was after, but now it steers to slow for my liking. so at some point in the next few months im probably going to spend more money than the truck is worth on a steering servo.

then after swapping everything back the servos in the GT don't want to work right. idk what's going on, hoping it's just a binding issue or maybe receiver pack issue. but there's like 3 seconds of lag and then the servos move really notchy and don't fully center. so i created that for myself.
