RE: Official DF-03 Ra Thread
I was off today and had a few minutes to slap together a test vid with my new camera. No thought went into this. LOL

The kit does not come with lights, but does come with a Darksoul cover.
There is a zillion tiny stickers to cut and stuck.... That took me a few days to complete . Very enjoyable to build.....

RE: Official DF-03 Ra Thread
Hey guys, do any of you have a Lancia DF03-ra? Im in the process of putting a Lancia body that I had left over from tt01 on the DF03. Looks like Tamiya is using different mount holes in the back on the DF03 version.. also the foam bumper looks like it needs to be cut.. my kit was originally the Subaru ..
Any pictures or comments would be appreciated, since the manual is not online

The part number for the wheels are #50678. It is listed as a different name but same wheel. I think these are the same wheels for the 08 Suby as well just not the gold color.

That is the same as my 08 Suby, just in white. Funny, the Tamiya USA website video for the Suby shows 10 spoke rims, the box art shows 18, and the kit came with 16 spoke. The pics for the Lancia show the same 16 spoke rims in white.

Raman, here is a copy of the body instructions from my Lancia Df03R:
The Lancia does come with the 16 spoke white wheels and the instructions do state to set it up as a short wheelbase.
The Turnigy hard case 4000Mah batteries from HobbyKing do fit. I had to cut down the length of the battery wires to allow the wires not to touch the shaft under the Dark Impact body.

Thanks Bridge!
WOW Tamiya got lazy with this kit.. strange place for the mount posts on the back.. right in front of the spoiler. All they had to do was design a new rear post. I'm using the stock ones mounted backwards for right now.. they seem to line up correctly.. will find a better solution later.

Here are some pics of my new ride....it's -24 degrees Celcius here but it is warming up to -3 or -4 by the weekend....time to get this thing in the snow....I'm rigging up the studded tires over the next few days.
I upgraded to the 3Racing steering linkage. It comes with 4 ball bearings and was only $12 compared to $10 for just the bearings at my LHS.

Hey guys, what parts have you broken and needed to replace? I'm thinking of picking up a second for a different body and a spare parts chassis. How are the diff's and gears holding up to brushless? I'm thinking this may be cheaper in the long run. What do you think?

I have run a Novak 8.5 and 13.5 sport in this car and they work fine. I do run it with the slipper and do allow some slip. The weak point of the car is not the diffs, its the idle gear that runs on the input shaft that the spur runs on.. its prone to early wear.

FWIW I FINALLY found the DF03 dark impact body which is to be used as a dirt cover/shield etc..
Tamiya #0555108
edit; could tamiya's USA site be any more poorly designed??? It's a miracle they are still in business...

RE: Official DF-03 Ra Thread
Okay I keep stripping or about to strip out the drive gears above the rear differential. I am running a Sidewinder with the 4600kv motor combo with 29/75 gearing on 2S.
I have a slipper installed as well. The counter gear and the main shaft gear seems to unmesh themselves after a few laps. Then I hear a grinding sound. Is this due to the fact that the cover above the drive gears is not tight enough?
The screws holding the top cover on have started to become a little loose. I assume the cover holds the gears in a tight mesh? Maybe look into longer screws perhaps...
