hey guys, about the poor 19y.o. woman police officer in training that die here in Vt. she was hit just about 1 mile (as a car drives) from my house. a lot of people hear are upset about this. my wife and I included. I have heard people say "things happen for a reason". well, if that is true, I just hope some people will look good at themselves as they think about her and hopefully change their lives for the better.

Prop=====Bolly Clubman 9.5 x 7
Fuel=====Wildcat 2/4 10% with 18% full synthetic
Plug=====Glo-Devil 4c special for Saito and Enya
Exhaust==Stock
Fuel Tank=Roto Flow 10 oz.
Max rpm sustained for 5 minutes=10,240 rpm
Idle 2,000 rpm
Prop=====Bolly Clubman 9.5 x 7

Good numbers again, Dave. Frankly I'm a bit surprised that it only lost 1K peak rpm. Down around 10K the 30 is well short of its peak HP rpm, steep loss of power in that area.
With that 9.5x7 prop and approx 800 rpm of prop unloading in the air your LT-25 calculated speed is a smidge over 63 mph.

A bit more power than my old,1979 open rocker!
IIRC it turned 11,400 RPM with an 9 x 5 back then on 10% nitro.
Pulled down the old (ancient) Goldberg 63 this morning. According to the log book, last flown 9-15-2022. Last year it was prepped for the season on May 05. At that time, the valves were set at my preferred .0015", cold clearances. Also the valve covers were given a dollop of Bel-air waterproof, synthetic grease. I also replaced the fibre washers that I always use under the rocker cover screw heads.
Timer on transmitter shows that the engine was run above idle for over 28 hours.
Upon today's check, the .0015" feeler slipped in but an added .001" would not. Not bad.
Last year I also began fitting annealed copper washers between the exhaust locking nuts and the head and muffler joints.
The sometimes oil creep under the rocker screws is gone and the fibre washers have a locking action as well. Any top end leakage is virtually gone.
So far the sealed, USA made MRC front bearing is holding back at least most oil.
The vent re-breather on the velocity stack is doing a good job at keeping things clean below the belt.
Won't be making any valve adustments this year, and the oil blend will also remain the same.
Just replace the fibre washers, two dolops of grease in the rockers. Bolt em back on.
Off to the field and pick up where I left off last September.
Ugly but effective
Squeaky clean. Copper can't hurt!
Lonnie, Prop Shop had this. From an old Top Flite kit. Needs paint, trimming and mounting.

I just ran the FA 30--s with a Graupner G-Sonic 10 x 7
Same everything except the prop.
For a 10 x 7, i gets up there almost instantly.

Well broken-in Saito .45 Mk2 Idling nicely. Tach is a Fromeco TNC. One of the very last to be made.

I ran that entire 10 oz tank through today, nearly all above 6,000 rpm with no change in rocker lash,.you are so right.

The one above that was nearly 30 hours of in the air, flight time.
Approximately 5-1/4 gallons of home-brewed fuel. (By quick guesstimation)

Gary, it's funny you brought up Rockers, I had to order some today. I had said "it's about time I run that FA91". and I mounted it to the test stand and went to adjust the rockers. I adjusted one but it was loose when I removed the Feeler. I knew I needed new rockers. LOL I hope they look better than Horizon's pic when I get them.

I have seen more than a few mushroomed valve stems. Yes, easy enough to true with a stone and oftentimes a necessary evil before removing the valve. Bottom line, if you beat the valve through the guide the cylinder is history.......pkease don't ask how I know that.

Likewise, dragging a burred valve stem tip thru the guide. The keeper grooves can pick up a mean burr too.
