Hey everyone. I am getting a TT-01 this friday. It is used, yet in great shape, with nothing wrong with it.
It comes with all of this RTR for $275 not including shipping.

Novak 5800 brushless system
futaba 2pl radio
futaba servo
5 sets of tyres and rims including drift tyres
4 bodies, calsonic skyline, stock skyline, bmw m3, mazda 6
oil filled shocks
graphite upper support
adjustable control arms
some other aluminum pieces
bearings
2 3000mah batteries
piranha peak charger
bag full of stock parts
stock motor
some other stuff i cant recall at the time

I think its a pretty good deal for $275

I had a nitro rs4 evo before this and it was nothing but a pain in my ass, so I sold it to buy one of these. If anyone could give me some tips of what to expect with one of these it would be greatly appreciated.

whoa, that is a great deal, with the brushless you are gonna have to go easy on the acceleration, good thing you have extra wheels and tyres coming with it because you'll go through em(see pics on previous page) like crazy. extra spur and pinion sets might be needed, i've found and been advised that 25/55 is the best ration for huge power such as we have. also, seriously, SELL ME YOUR M3 BODY PLEASE! my dad just finished restoring one and i would love to get one! i am paypal ready! i digress, you will have a ball with this thing, get more battery packs though, you'll burn through those 2 in no time and be itching for more run time. let us know if you need any help, i am sure we have all read every single page on this forum, i have!
welcome!

They are not the best cars for raceing but they do make really good drifters. Make sure to post some pictures when you get it!

Thats why it wont drift! You will need to buy a new set of drift tires and new wheels. Talk to you LHS they should beable to help you make a choice on what brand/style to go with.

I got a Tamiya Mazda RX7 (TT-01D based) car with a TEU-101BK ESC (included in the kit).
I also have a Futaba 3PM 2,4 ghz with a R603FS receiver.

I'm not able to get receiver to work with this ESC. Do I need a separate batterypack for the receiver?
I see that there is a "receiver battery connector" on the ESC, but this is a two pin connector. The battery connector on the receiver is 3-pin.

I also have a DB-01 car with a M-Tronics Eco 20 ESC. This one works with the receiver without trouble. The only thing connected to the ESC in this case is the seering servo and the connector to the ESC. No external powersource?

Can anybody help me with this?

Norseman72 u should be able to put the 2 pin connector into the 3 pin slot, im guessign this is what the problems is. My ESC receiver power cable is a 2 pin connector and my receiver has a 3 pin (power in) slot. Hopefully the photos will show this

I posted this in the main rc electric on road and haven't got any responses. SO, here goes.

I got my tt-01 with a novak 5800 with super sport esc plus. It ran fine for about 3 charges. Suddenly the motor would not turn over. I took it out and it still would not turn. I flicked the pinion with my finger and it began to spin fine. But as soon as I stopped it, it wouldn't turn again. So, I flicked it again and it spun. The motor runs fine, it just work start itself. Any ideas are greatly appreciated.
Thank you.

Edit:
I just remembered that right before I did this that I plugged my battery in while the car was on, it sparked at the battery connectors. Yes, i'm an idiot. I assume that this probably shorted something out. I also remember smelling something burning, and I think, but not sure, that I saw smoke from the esc.

Thought I would post a pic of my upgrade to brushless. Running 17.5 brushless. I have a Speed Passion esc, Trinity 17.5 brushless and running a 55/35 4.09 gear ratio.

I run my DF-01 with the antenna under the body (as it flips a lot) and it works just as good when it is above the body. I guess it would be the same with the TT-01

I am new to this forum. So, this may have been discussed. In Maryland a group of racers are trying to start a class that they hope to get into the TCS. It is all about the TT01 with limited hop ups and tires. They call it Senior Spec. The class was run in one of the TCS races in Maryland and the TCS race inMemphis. It's a true budget class. here are the rules. We are trying to get it started in our parking lot series. What's your opinion?

<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: verdana; font-size: 13px; ">Senior Spec class Rules for Tamiya TCS :

1) All cars are Tamiya TT-01 or TT-01E.

2) Hop-up's allow:

a. Any Ball bearings

b.Tamiya shocks and springs only (we like Tamiya #50746)

c. Turnbuckle steering tie-rods (Tamiya part #53662)

d. aluminum drive shaft (Tamiya part #53620 or #54026).

3) Gearing will be FIXED- kit 19t pinion and 61t spur

4)Tires: Racing Radials #50419, racing slicks #50454 or semi slicks #50810
These are the tires that come in the kit, any insert are okay to run.
Also Tamiya 26mm wheels ,also the wheel that come with the
kits,any offset is okay

5) Tamiya 1/10 scale touring car bodies, coupes or sedans.

6) Batteries are all 7.2(7.4 lipo) volts. They can be 6-cell- nicads or 6-cell nimhs, and Lipo's (We recommend Team Orion carbon edition 2400, 3200, 3400 and 3800)Other Lipo's of 4000mah 28c or lower are allowed ,but must fit and mount under the stock battery hold down mount . No mods to chassis or battery hold down are allowed. Lipo's charged voltage of 8.44 or less.

7) Your choice of electronics.

8) No weight minimum, but don&rsquo;t lighten the car chassis or parts because that&rsquo;s not allowed. Feel free to add weight in order to balance the car if you&rsquo;re going to use a lipo pack.

9) Qualifying heats will be 6 minutes long. All Mains will be 8 minutes

A couple of thing that people always think are legal but NOT:

Aluminum motor mounts
Carbon upper deck ( you can use TT-01E upper deck)
Aftermarket parts (Yeah racing ,3racing,GPM )
2 degree rear toe hubs ((must run 0 deg. ones)
Ball diffs (gear diffs only)
Alum. wheel hex's ( wobble wheel racing fun)
5000mah 40c lipos( 4000mah 25c max lipo)

In the TCS there are classes where the hop ups are unrestricted, except they must be Tamiya. You can only compete if you spend a lot cash on hop ups, brushless sytems, etc. They have a Spec Class, but it's suppose to be for rookies. There is no low budget class for more experienced drivers, who can't afford the hop ups. I think for the TCS they would have to change the pinion rule, because the guys who organized the class in Maryland run highly tuned silver cans. It's not for everyone. I am just tired of investing more and more money to compete. I think one of the reason the Traxxas Slash has become so popular, is that's it reasonably priced and durable. Stock classed for it have popped up all over. As, I said it's not a class for everyone, but i think it might appeal to a lot of people in today's economy.

Thanks for the welcome.

I think they race at a Hobbytown with an indoor track called the Coliseum. I think that it's in Frederick, MD.
