hey guys I got to tell you this one!!!
the wife and I have been babysitting the last few weeks, 5 hours a day, my granddaughter is now 8 months old. and I have been trying to get her to say "Poppa", she can say it. but getting her to say it isn't working for me. well my son and wife and baby came to supper Saturday. when they got back to their apartment the baby quickly fell right to sleep on my son's shoulder. when she woke up she looked to the left, looked to the right, look back to the left again and looked at her father and said "Poppa". LOL she was looking for me. that made my whole week. LOL

Jim, we have an almost new Grandson, Hayden, he's 13 weeks old, came in at 6lb. 11oz. and is now 14lb 15oz. he has a big barrel chest and the shoulders to go with it, he must take after his Grandpa, except he has hair. I'm glad you're enjoying yours too. We have a six bedroom house and ours lives upstairs.

I discovered that I have two Saito 50's, I found the perfect plane for one of them: https://www.oldschoolmodels.com/sr40.htm

This is a Saito 50 I rebuilt and painted myself, it has surprisingly strong compression, I may have a Christmas gift coming for it. https://www.oldschoolmodels.com/sr40.htm
I had the Manage attachments button for one Post.

Merry Christmas to all.

The plane is a real beauty there Dave. Just watching the flight video was enough for me to order one.

Lots of possibilies there for kit bashing too.
The one thing I noted is the gear looks a bit too far forward for my prerred location. Other than that, it sure flies and looks like a real winner. Those OSMW planes seem to build strong and fairly light. They fill a huge gap that Sig left behind.

Dave. That plane looks very close to a kit called a Barnstormer by a Japanese company called Pilot or OK RPM. That company is long gone. The kit was available in a 25 and 40 size. Hobby Shack sold them. I had several of them. If your kit flies as well you are going to love it. I may have to order one from OSM.

I finished up working on the Saito 150 and started rebuilding a few Enya 4C engines. I must get back to Saitos.

A Merry Christmas to all of you.

Club Saito guys, I need some opinions. I have a Saito 115 in a Top Flite P-51. Engine runs well but sometime it doesn't have compression on the first flight of the day. Usually if I turn it over a few times it will come back to life. Lately it is taking a lot more than a few flips. This morning I really struggled, but it eventually regained compression and ran great. I have looked at the valves but they seem to seal to my untrained eye. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Two questions:
What fuel (oil type) are you using?
Have you checked/adjusted the valves lately?

Jesse,

I am using Richtes brew 15 percent 4 stroke fuel (oil is 18 percent all synthetic). I checked the valves at the last flying session.

No likely problems there. Are you running the engine dry and using after run oil at the end of the day?

Pedro,

Looking forward to the next sked on 14.210 usb! Maybe N1EDM would like to join in(?)
BTW, My first RC flight was a Jr Falcon, Cox 049 and a Min-X radio.

Yes I religiously run dry and use after run. I am a little confused because once it gets compression it is a very healthy engine. I am a little concerned that it seems to be taking longer for it to get compression, maybe the colder weather?

Possibly a balky ring, or sticky valve stems or tappets. Usually little to worry about. I see it often.
If you find it problematic as is, it may be time to tear down and clean up a bit.

Gary
Package arrived today. Beautiful! I have been practicing with it before I put it on the air. It plugged right into the radio. And yes to getting on 20 meters again, maybe next Friday.

To those that don't know what we are talking about, we both active in Ham radio. We can talk between Michigan and Texas like we are in the same room. Anyone interested in finding out about it feel free to contact me.
