If those numbers are a percentage I don't think it would conduct much electricity. As far as I know for RC's, most ppl use 60/40 rosin core solder.

RE: OFFICIAL HPI Sprint 2 Thread (Sport and Flux)
Hey good news. Today, I decide to test the speed of my sprint 2 in front of my house. I used a droid speedometer and it maxed out at 35.08 mph uphill. Not too bad for a 2 year old car with minor mods, MM 6900, and a 6 cell venom.
BTW. I will be getting my 2s lipos this week so i might update to show what speed difference it makes.

What esc are you running? You should be able to get quite a bit more with the 6900kv with proper gearing. Although as you say it was uphill. On a flat surface you should be pushing well over 50mph i would think.

Well i have a mm combo. Plus stock pinion and 93 spur, why i have such a high spur beats me. couple month old 6c venom 5000 mah. I have worn down radials as well. And I had about 1/4 of a mile street on loose asphalt. What can i do without spending money? Even going downhill it was still under 40.

RE: OFFICIAL HPI Sprint 2 Thread (Sport and Flux)
how accurate is your radar?
how many teeth is your pinion? if i remember correctly the stock is either 26 or 28. Is your motor very hot after running? With a 6900kv motor generally a smaller pinion would be preferrable, probably somewhere in the 20t range.
Generally speaking, Venom 6c nimhs aren't very good. If you end up getting a lipo you'll definitely improve your speed.
Just something doesn't seem right as a stock Sprint 2 Flux with the 5700kv would get at least 40-45mph. My best guess is your battery isn't up to snuff as the 6900kv needs more current than the 6c nimh can provide.

I just did some research and found the stock Flux version uses a 23t pinion and 90t spur. So with a 93t spur, I'd guess you'd need to use a pinion in the 20-23t range.

RE: OFFICIAL HPI Sprint 2 Thread (Sport and Flux)
Well my original car was a sprint 2 drift sport so it had a 28 pinion stock pinion, I'll have to change that. Also, i didn't want to tear through the spur gear my original 87 tooth stripped itself even though it was set properly. I guess i'll just have to go buy 5 70 range spurs. The Motor is NOT HOT AT ALL. But as i am getting ready for college, i just don't have the money to spend on small adjustments.
Venoms aren't that good, but i've never had any other so i can't really tell you.
Radar is on a Motorola Driod. I think it uses the distance formula because it updates every two seconds. I taped it to the bottom of the roof. That might have made the car significantly heavy too.
After the 2s, i think i'll need to stay with the 93 tooth anyways.

What kind of 2S lipo are you getting? Might as well just wait till you get them and then see how it runs before playing with the gearing.

yes that gearing is killing you.
ive been eyeing 9.6v AA packs cgi.ebay.com/2-9-6V-2300mAh-NiMH-TX-Transmitter-Battery-Packs_W0QQitemZ290346111310QQcmdZViewItemQQptZRadi o_Control_Parts_Accessories. they look lke they would fit right into the batt. tray. any comments on charging, and the power than can be drawn from them? or is there a suitable AA pack similar to that i can use? i know for that particular pack shown, the wire is pretty thin.

Looks like it would work great for your radio. For charging I would guess that you'd need an adapter to fit that kind of plug. I've just no experience with transmitter battery packs, maybe someone else can give you a better answer.

I don't see why you wouldn't want to use a traditional battery but i suppose if your esc can handle 8 cells and you put the right connectors on it, i would work. But for some reason i think that it would have a terrible battery life because of the smaller cells. Maybe they could get really hot as well.
The spurs were practically free at a dollar each.
and I am getting a used SPC Battery Pack 5000mAh/20C/2S/7.4V with Traxxas Connectors.

9.6v would give more power over a 7.2v pack. the way i see it its 8 cells at 9.6v. a brushless 3 cell lipos gives you 11.1v, so i thought i would be safe. i was told that the size of the cell is irrelevant to the power and perhaps the capacity. i wold still expect the run time of a 2200mah 6cell nimh, but i may be wrong,

zanga, you should see a real nice performance gain with that SPC lipo!
iMOD, i'm just not too sure that pack will work well. Those wires wouldn't supply enough amps without melting on you. It is 9.6V, but not designed to properly supply your brushless motor with enough juice. And who knows how well each cell is soldered together?

yes im aware that that wiring is too thin. i just noticed that a 8AA pack would fit nicely into the tray and be much lighter, and at the same time i could have more voltage. so there is no AA cell that can deliver the juice anyone? I could solder and wire the pack myself.

I can't give any definite answers for you. Try creating a new thread in the electric off-road section and you'll be bound to get some answers.

Did you guys ever figure out how to get rid of the steering slop?
Someone once told me it is as easy as tightening the servo saver. I didn't check it yet though.

nope, i tried the RPM ballcups, and they may have helped a little, but I still have the slop. Might look into the aluminum steering setup.

Make sure that the nut on the steering spring is tightened. Cut some thin donuts out of fuel tubing and put them over the ball ends.

The majority of my slop is right where the servo saver is on both of my Sprints. I can jiggle it back and forth.
Although the rpm ballcups have taken some of the slop away. I'm comparing my 2 sprints now, 1 with rpm and 1 without.

Great news, i just got my 2s SPC Lipos and they are primed and ready, but it's 8 pm so I'm going to have to wait until tomorrow. Will measure speed results.

RE: OFFICIAL HPI Sprint 2 Thread (Sport and Flux)
hey guys. im having some problems with my sprint 2. for some reason it cuts out after about 7 meters when i let go of the throttle and wont go again untill i walk up close to it. it goes abit further if i keep on the throttle but even then it wont go further then about 20 metres and when it stops i have to walk upto it again. i thought it was the crystals so i changed them but its still the same. would this be from the reciever?? i have a 14 turndoublewind motor on it also, could that be a cause for the problem?
also i see alot of people have the fans on their ESC, would this help my problem??
