The Spad is coming right along, the wings are done and joined, tail feathers built, the OD covering should be here tomorrow. The fuse is well along, engine mounted, the tail servos are in, the throttle servo is in progress. As you can see I extended the nose, it just looked ugly with the Saito FA 4-a prop driver 1.125" out front, I fixed that. The upper wing mount is not glued yet, it's just there for the picture and to get exhaust pipe right. This is my first ever inverted engine. I'll set the FA 40-a up inverted since I can flip my PSP. I'll even use the 8 oz tank.

Saito 80 running inverted.

Can do, we went from 103 F to wind whipping the trees, only one flight so far, plus Geri and I are both recovering from pneumonia. She was hospitalized for 4 days. I'm enjoying the shop time. The FA 40-a is wearing a Turbo Header thanks to Gary, it will point down and back a little.

Sorry to hear about the pneumonia, nasty stuff! I still have lung damage from my last bout of it. I love the way the BrisolSpadPort is coming out. I'm starting to regret not adding a mock exhaust pipe on mine like you did on yours. mark did a great job of keeping with the original design while still upgrading the kit for ease of building. Willard's original had a wood skin on the rear turtleback I see Mark lkeft it opened and just covered it.

Dave, it's good to hear Geri is home and you too are better.
the plane looks good. what are the 5 slots for, or are they just stickers?
I flew a SPAD a few times, my son flew it for a whole summer. the owner used a Yard Stick for the main spar. I got a kick out of that. it was a Stick and it had a Towers 46 in it. it flew pretty good for what it was.

BTW, I sent you a PM, did you get it or did I click the wrong button again.

sorry for a long post, but here is my Eye Dr story.

as of now I have paid in over $900 in Copais. surgeon's copay is over $200 each time.

copay #1), to my Prescription Dr just to get a refurl, (copay $150)..

copay #2), to first Surgeon. she's not too friendly, didn't talk much at all. I asked the same question 2 times and she didn't say a word. didn't tell me what she thought was wrong with my eyes, just told me to come back in 6 months.... she didn't test me for Cataracts.

copay #3), 6 months later, same Surgeon ^. samething^,,, samething^,,, same question^ and samething^, didn't answer me,,,, didn't check me for Cataracs..

NOTE) keep in mind at this point of time, not I or my wife, never had a thought I could have Cataracs

copay #4), Surgeon #2. at this time I would not go back to the first Surgeon! this 2nd surgeon, he is good, has a bit of an ego, but he tested me>, I finely know "I have Cataracts", I was surprised. but HE will not lower himself to do cataracts, he doesn't do cataracts,,,, on to my 3rd Surgeon.

copay #5) Surgeon #3. a Cataract specialist. he's good, Harvard taught. I like him. he will do the job,,, IF,, read on.
Guys, when I left 2nd grade my school close, that sent me for 3rd grade to a school for Disabled children. I went there for 3 years. you name the disability, it was there. it all gave me CPTSD, and the kids with eye damage, and bad eye operations. I have overly protected my eyes for all most 60 years now, and these surgeons want to operate while I am awake., so I asked this surgeon to put me asleep to do my surgery. he said "yes" if his team will agree because of my age. you see they put to sleep a lot of young kids.
now. if his team does not agree he knows a surgeon that will put me to sleep for the operations. so beside the copays for doing both my eyes a moth apart, I will have to pay a copay jut for this 4th surgeon to test my eyes again before the surgeries. that will make a total of 8 copays.

as the song sings "ant that America"

They do the eyes a month a part in case something really goes bad with the first one. I was lucky my surgeon was willing to do the second eye after only 2 weeks. He had done my wife's eyes several years before. Copay for the surgery all told was $1500.

guys, I cleaned out my fuel tank for the Shoestring with rubbing AlcO. it cleaned it good, but there was a fuel stain on the in-side bottom of the tank. I wondered what to do. I put about 1+oz of Denatured AlcO in it, plugged it, shook it, let it set for 15 minutes. shook it more, and boy O-boy the Denatured AlcO removed the stain slick.

Bet you didn't know today is my birthday

BTW Denatured alcohol, iirc is ethanol with a bit of methanol added to make it poisonous.
Riubbinng alcohol is isopropyl alcohol, also a poison.
