Hi Peter,
Yes from the standard kit plans. This was perhaps 10years ago so I can not recall really what I did with the formers, think I had some clues from the drawings and then just eyeballed them to final shape. It is pretty boxy so not a hard thing to do. Did what I could to keep the weight down, alla formers laminated 2+2+2mm light balsa 0-90-0 degrees. A lot of the same with added thin (0,6-1,0mm) aircraft plywood laminated onto the 0-90-0 balsa in high load structures. Shortened nose to balance the OS twin.

Aerobatic Tom,
It looks like the Goldberg Kit, well the lines do, but that's just awsome what you did! I should have done the same when building the wing kit and built up the fuselage instead of buying the formers from and fuse from Great Planes Hobbico support. Oh well...
If anyone is interested PM for an electronic copy of the plans.
Also, now that I finished revamping my hobby shoppe (work shoppe) with the new magnetic building system and inventorying all my kits and what nots I will be resuming the build I posted about. The final step left is the mounting of the top wing using the new bolt through system.... so keep an eye out guys.

peternj - CG Ultimate Build
ok gang, so here's some more progress I made on mounting the top wing after getting my building boards all set up.
<p class="MsoNoSpacing" style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt"><font size="3"><font face="Calibri">It is middle of august now, and I finally got an opportunity to get back to the build after finishing off my new building bench and magnetic system building board. However, this is a story for another time. Now that the cabanes are mounted and the top wing completed it was time to mount it. I’ve made modifications to the wing so that I can mount it using by the bolts through the wing method.

<font face="Calibri" size="3"> </font></p></p><span style="LINE-HEIGHT: 115%; FONT-FAMILY: "Calibri","sans-serif"; FONT-SIZE: 11pt; mso-bidi-font-family: 'Times New Roman'; mso-bidi-theme-font: minor-bidi; mso-ascii-theme-font: minor-latin; mso-fareast-font-family: Calibri; mso-fareast-theme-font: minor-latin; mso-hansi-theme-font: minor-latin; mso-ansi-language: EN-US; mso-fareast-language: EN-US; mso-bidi-language: AR-SA">It took me a couple of weeks of thinking up a clean method of doing this. I originally thought of using a 3/8th inch dowel that is screwed to the cabanes and goes through the wing so that it can bolted down. Instead I found 6-32 ‘screw posts’ at my local hardware store. I used the ½ inch length (the shorter of the two pictured).

Here are some pictures of how the mount works. Here’s the prototype mount.

cool thanks, im hoping to have this in the sky very soon. just going to fly it the rest of the season and maybe have it recovered this winter. anyone have any input on weather a dle20 would be a good idea or not. after searching google and the forum i have gotten mixed feelings of plenty of power for anything i could want to do with it, and that it will weigh it down to much to do more than just sport fly it

Go DLE, you wont regret, tried O.S. 120 and a YS 120, have two going with a DLE and happy with that decision
Michael
PS: one Guy makes a Back Plate now for the Dle 20, might be good not to use them heavy beam mounts, might redo mine this winter, like stand offs better. and might get rid off them wire legs and add some Aluminum landing gears.

I agree ,it's lighter, especially wet total weight with the DLE, mine came in 8 oz lighter with the 6 oz tank on CG and shared ignition Battery (Syssa Kill switch) It performs comparable to the YS.
I use a 17X6 Vess on it and vertical is sweet.

Hi Peter, your build is great, mods on mounting the upper wing is great too, looks to me that there will be not problems with incidence.
I have been flying but in commercial lines by now, visiting my mother because of her age and sickness, I have been in the field only four or five times this summer, I have to tell you that is not nice to be under the sun at 100o. F, I will wait for a better weather on September and October, sadly, those are windy months but I can catch a few nice weekends with this heat, it is hard to live in the desert.
Keep the good work, I am taking an eye on every step.

The DLE 20 is an awesome engine for this plane. Everyone that has seen mine comments on the performance and the sound. I am thinking of going with a pitts style muffler to make it sound even better!! (insert Tim Allen grunts here)
The single battery set up keeps the weight down. I use the Tech-Aero Ultra IBEC.
Peternj, very kewl solution for the top wing mount. Looks durable.

Hello everybody! Good to meet you all! I am new to RC and I'm virtually finished building my Aerostar 60 trainer. I just recently got a goldberg ultimate kit that is supposed to be 20 yrs old. So that would make it 1991. Was that one of the good years? I've been reading the build threads and taking notes. I will start a build thread probably next year. I have to build at least a Four Star 60 first and then maybe a Big Stik before I move on to the Ultimate. I refuse to fly any ARF's. I want the highest quality planes done right and I want to choose my own colors. I even built my field box from a kit. I discovered the Ultimate in RealFlight 5.5. I immediately knew it was something very special. I will buy the best parts for my Ultimate and it will be a great labor of love.

Killionaire, welcome to our great Brotherhood, you are oficially our # 67 member, I am sure that you will find lots of good info to get your Ultimate ready to fly in a snap, however I really recommend to relax and read all building threads linked with our brotherhood, do not miss the mods, they are a great addition to the normal build setup,I would even say that they are mandatory when you are building ailerons. Peter has a great build thread right now in our brotherhood, it has a lot of good pictures, p please have fun and enjoy this great Brotherhood.

What are some good cars that can transport the CG Ultimate without disassembling the wings?
Ithink a Ford Flex would do it. Does anyone have a Ford Flex?
I think I will buy one sometime![Smile](images/smilies/smile.gif)
What kind of car do you drive and do you have to disassemble your ultimate?
