on that note, you got your cars and i just got my parts(still have more comin in the mail actually, and if anyone ever wants upgrades for their tt-01 check out thetoyz.com first. i placed this order like 3 days ago and it came from the other side of the country)

haha i know the feeling beast. i got my car a few days ago but have been unable to actually drive it to its full potential because theres still snow all over the place outside. but now i have about $100 worth of aluminum parts to look forward to installing on the car, theyre on their way to my house at the moment as well
does anyone know what the average run time on a 3300mah or so 6cell nimh should be on a stock tt01 motor?

I think it should be around 45 - 50 minutes max. But it also depends on your gear ratio. Standard TT 01 comes with a 61t spurs and 19t pinion which gives a gear ratio of 8.34. The lower the ratio will consume more power thus giving more speed and less run time. Get a lipo battery. Will last longer and you'll add more power to the car.

anyone know if titantium shaft joints are recommended or is plastic just fine?
oh also, some parts like the diff's and shafts have grease on them. is there a recommended grease to use to regrease everything before i put it back together?

i would think 2 motors would pretty much throw any handling these things do have right out the window. it wouldnt be practical but its more like one of those 'do it because you can' kind of projects.

i built the ta05 but now im gonna wait until i have a few dollars and buy my bearing kit as well as the steering parts. im also going to either get a speed controller of just order a ezrun bl setup. if i get the bl setup i will just throw it into the ta05 and put the stock esc into the tt01. these kits are mega easy to put together.

gotta agree with you beast, i took my tt01 apart in a matter of minutes and while i was ripping into it i never once doubted that i would have a problem putting it back together at the end of this week when the rest of my parts arrive.

RE: Official Tamiya TT-01 Thread
Hey guys, new to the RC world and I thought I would start with a Tamiya TT-01.
I was thinking of picking up this kit: http://www.amazon.com/Ferrari-FXX-Re...09&sr=8-35
I have a few questions, and I know there is a search function for a reason, but I'm a little overwhelmed with the amount of information on the site.
If you guys could answer my questions, I would be grateful and I promise in the future I will search.
Anyway, my questions are
1. With the kit on amazon, are the only things i need 6 cell batteries and a charger? I can read, however, I'm just checking that the kit comes with the basics (controller, servo, 540 motor, ECS)
2. If the above is correct, then could you guys please recommend a starter batter and charger ( price> over run time for the most part)
3. Does/can the TT-01 race with other 1/10th scale on road cars? What I mean is, with mods, can I competitively race at my local track?
Any and all help will hugely appreciated in my quest to enter the RC world.
Best Wishes,
- Shawn

Tamiya Ferrari FXX TT-01 Kit - $125

Tamiya PS-2 Polycarbonate Spray Red 3 oz - $6.20

Futaba 2PH 2-Channel AM radio with 1 S3003 Servo - $48
http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...I=LXASX2**&P=7
Peak Charger - $50

or

DuraTrax 6-Cell 7.2V DTX 4200 NiMH Stick Pack - $38
http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...&I=LXNCR1&P=ML
Total: $242.20
$267.20 less $25 ($25.00 off $199)
For only $28 more than the RTR at Amazon, you get a peak charger and a battery pack. You save roughly $60. Plus building the kit is half the fun!
Regarding your third question:
The TT01 is an entry level kit. You can't expect a $100 kit to be as fast as the $500 top level kits No matter how many hopups you install (CF chassis, aluminum parts etc) it will never be competetive in the race level. What you would want is at least a TA05. But if you just want to have fun in the parking lot or in the silvercan class, then the TT01 is a great place to start. For mods I would suggest the aluminum motor mount, aluminum propeller shaft and oil-filled dampers. And maybe a ball diff in the rear. Good luck!

I can only agree with Bok here, building is certainly part of the fun, I was a little scared of it in the beginning too, but the TT-01 is really easy to build and the manual is showing it really good

The TT01 is a great car, but in higher level racing it will not compete as well. It competes well in the silver can class as Bok mentioned. You may want to look at a TA05 for a more competitive car. Both are good cars. Below is a site selling a TA05 a a very reasonable price although their shipping is high. They also have a TT01 under $100.<div>

93dabeast - I remember now you posted the pictures of your kits. They do have some very good prices. Last fall they had some TT01 kits with painted bodies for under $100. Unfortunately, those are gone but they have some others a excellent prices.
