If you want just speed, and if you can sacrifice a little bit of acceleration, try changing your gearing. You can get a SuperStock RZ motor reasonably cheaper, and it can run on the standard ESC... so if you get that motor along with a higher gearing combo, there should be reasonable improvements...

Are the different gearing selections based on the motor you have? I have a EZRun 5.5t brushless and I am using the stock gearing. What is the suggested gearing for after market motors?

Rallying/drifting you want more acceleration and torque... car parks, you may want more top speed... general rule is that greater the number of teeth on the pinion (smaller gear) the greater the acceleration... and the greater the number of teeth on the spur (larger gear) the greater the acceleration...<div>so you have to find the perfect ratio... everyone uses different set ups... personally i prefer a 23/55 (pinion/spur) for drifting and 28/55 for speed...</div></div>

RE: Official Tamiya TT-01 Thread
hey guys i just got my tt-01e kit, we are going to start racing them at my local hobby shop. the class is a total stock class, what can i do to the car to give it the competitive edge. Like what are you using in the diffs for greas? anything I can do to the shocks to make them work better? remember this is stock so pls dont tell me to get adjustable shocks or a ball diff. looking for those old triks of the trade things that people have learned from racing this car. thanks

Hey guys,<div>
</div><div>I just installed my CVA kit, and a 28/55 gearing to see what sort of speeds the stock motor can give! I am hugely impressed with the speed, I think its almost double of the standard gearing! The CVA dampers dont seem o have made too much of a difference, but the car feels easier to control, and is a bit more grippy... </div><div>>> tip for anyone assembling a CVA Damper unit, some of the parts are very small, and very hard to work with!! Take extreme caution, as it is easy to lose these parts!</div>

maybe someone should chuck a mamba 7700 with 5s lipo into a tt01 and let i t rip probally get 180kmh from it. If you crash it into hundreds of pieces, you probally can fix it for under $80 if u buy from rc mart (assuming nothing happens to the electronics)
Im bored right now so im going to read this whole forum all over again.

i put no grease in my tt01because as it attracts to much worn plastic which gets caught in between the pinion and spur which causes them to wear out quicker.

RE: Official Tamiya TT-01 Thread
TT01 owner I decided to make my one out of my 2TT01 into a racer. It is farely hopped up.
My car consist of :
Ball Bearings
speed tuned gear
metal motor mount
23t Pin. gear
LRP 9turn Modified Brushed Motor with cooling fan
8turn Modded ESC Controller
Sway bars Stabilizer
Carbon upper chasis Brace
Mini oiled CVC Shock Absorbers with Springs
2 way rear diff
Adjustable Front and Rear Arms for toe-in and toe-out
more torque and higher top speed
So tell me what you all think and what is best gearing ratio a twisting track.

You should directly solder your motor and esc together for less resistants
Also Get Dean plugs for your battery and esc as they have less resistants.
Gearing To 24t/58t is also good idea and will give you much much more top speed in straights.
Some people clean out the grease of there ball bearings by spraying them with motor spray, drying them then applying light bearing oil. This is suppose to increase perfomance at the expense of the bearing life but i havent tryied it.
These tricks will make a difference in performance even though they are minor

agreed.
also, put a fan on that speedo and why is your bumper on the rear of your car......?

only to allow fresh air to enter the front of the car to keep the esc and motor a little bit cooler. I was into to just going for top speed. and now I want to go corneri as well. I know i need it on and had it on in the beginning, but took it off. How wold I be bel o power 2 fans when I use the ESC Speed Controller to power the motor fan?? The fan would eliminat the nobumper using. Thanks for the tipps.. I will do.all thechanges today and tommorow and will give updates of progress later. track here are open every Thursdays for freefrom 6pm-8 pm. here in Bamberg. Germany . So come out all who live in Bamberg Germany..

you can run the fan off the receiver's AUX port (sometimes labeled as BATT, etc.), do you find the speedo runs hot? if so and you are going to buy a fan, get the yeah racing tornado, bit pricey but well worth it.
this is the cheapest one on the bay:
