the tamiya tb03 isa great car to get after a tt01, its as smooth asa belt drive and has a much stronger drivetrain. It has the motor mount intergrated with about six screws into the chassis which keeps the motor still and has slotted mouns for the motors not holes so you can use differnt pitch gears, some upsides over the tt01. Personally i wouldnt get a ta05 for bashing around as it has belts but this car is a ta05 ifs with a tb evo V bullet proof drivetrain on it. I have one and its also great for 17.5t brushless racing

Yeah I was looking at that one. as well as the TRF 416 which is almost the same as the TB 03 but belt driven. and also the F104 looks like it could be fun.

The TT-01 is definately a good place to start. It is not only a good car for beginners but for hard core racers. There is an endless list of upgrades that will improve it dramatically. And they're cheap!

It's probably best to get one in a kit version, so you can build it and familiarise yourself with how it goes together. And if you're going to go brushless, you wont need to buy one with a motor and ESC, so that will reduce the cost quite a bit.

If you want to reduce the cost further, you should be able to find some used ones on ebay that may already have some upgrades. New bearings to replace the stock bushings is a definate must and will improve the car's efficiency massively.

i ll will say that the tb03 is the bet to handle brushless as it comes with all thegood parts you need really (ball bearings, steel propellor shaft and joints, ball diffs, metal dogbones, metal wheel axles and its motor mount designis far superior to my tt01's. With almost all the suspension design derived from the ta05 ifs and trf416, and a motor mount that wont budge even with the most crazy of brushless systems, you wont be disapointed. I find it also handles way better than my tt01 which tends to loose grip even with a silvercan in tight corners the tb03 will stick to the track like glue.

By the way it only comes in kit form which is great because all you need to do is get a brushless motor/esc combo, radio gear and your off.

The TB03 is definitely the next one I get once my TT01 build is finished. which will be soon is that chassis pretty much the same as that evo 5 just with less upgrades? and how much can you upgrade it, are there as many parts available as the tt01?<div>
</div><div>As far as a motor, look into the eZrun brushless motors, you can find them on ebay, they usually come as a package with an ESC and they aren't too bad in price. about $90 after shipping.</div>

I'm not too sure of what motors are good, I just went by what I thought would look the best on my car. the eZrun motors had the look I was going for and weren't far out of my price range. as far as I know or have seen the only difference in their motors is the speed, I have only seen 13t and 9t in my search on ebay,

It depends on what battereis you will be running on it.

If you are going to run 2cell LiPo's then I'd go with the 5.5T, should get you car going around 70km/h. If you're going to use 3 cell LiPo then get the 9T, which will bring it to the same speed.

after a bunch of searching I still dont know what my best option is for a battery. I want to go with a lipo with a 13t motor, but what is a good battery/charger with the right connection for the tt01?

I recommend changing the connections to deans plugs. The Tamiya ones melt when they get too hot.

I'd go with a 3 cell 11.1v Zippy Flightmax LiPo battery, I'm pretty sure I put a link for them on the previous page (from hobbyking.com). And their turnigy accucel chargers work well.

I have been driving me old tt01e alot lately and after some hard impacts on the suspension arms, i have cracked the shock tower. It would of beenbetter if yeahracing made their shocks with ball headed screws not ordinary screws which transfer the impact to the shock mount. i think i will have to throw them in the bin and rip the tamiya cva super mini shock units off my tb03 and put them on the tt01. I'll will treat the tb03 to trf ones as a replacement.
I would say that yeahracing suspension are not worth it, screw setting will create slop on my tt01 e, cant mount them on my tb03 due to ifs setup, will probally crack the shock mounts on my df02, its the shame i have to go from bling metal dampers to boring old black plastic ones.
Ive realisedthat the tt01 has incrediblygood accelerationwhich you just dont get on other cars.

i agree i lost a esc due to my tamiya plugs plastic melted while i was driving and the to leads moved closer till they touched and short circuted the battery, lucky this happened wheni was using nimh's andi was driving with the body off so i can unplug the battery before it can explode.

If you run the 6000kv (5.5T) on 2 cell LiPo, it'll be up in the 70km/h zone. If it's on 3 cell, it'll be going a hell of a lot faster than any nitro lol. the motor will be doing 66,600rpm

My mate runs that motor on 2 cell and it flies. Maybe go a 9T (4300kv).

hi make sure on the tb03 you get the alumium diff joints , the stock ones wil cause some binding at super high rpm, and thats all that needs changing.
