CARF REBEL 2m

I’m also running Electron ER40 retracts, using a Savox 0220mg(hv) on nose steering with the LGC15 gyro controller. 25 flights on combo of grass and pavement, working well so far.

Here’s the setup for my new Carf 2M Jetcat P-130 .
I have A Rex 12 assist,New older cortex demon,dsm10,R-900 backup.2Jeti RB 3100
First question is all cables I need for cortex in box to set it all up and what other cables might I need ,trying to get it set up this week so trying not to forget something!

I would not do that.
DSM10 is OK for smaller Rebel HOT with 15mm servos and is no way capable of (safely) coping with currents in a Classic.
Also, Rex12 Assist + Cortex -> do you really want 2 gyros ? And Jeti Assist doesnt like turbines very much due to acoustic interference.
Safe bet is to go CB220 set with 2x Rsat and switch of your choice (magnetic or the fancy remote) + 900MHz backup which is exactly that i am going to do with mine.

Rex3 or Rsat it does not make a difference. Rsat is specifically for use with exbus devices (centralbox ets) just to provide receiver signal, whereas Rex3 can also be used as standalone receiver for simple models with 3 channels. Quality of reception is the same.
You have the perfect set, nothing else needed.

So if you use the CB 220, use an EX R7 RexA40 Sleeve Diploe Antennas and add the Rex3 as a clone. It's excellent for signal strength . I won't use the Rex12 with gyro as the Cortex is superior to Jeti's gyro and built an acoustic box over it Gyro box ti insults it from interference from the Turbine frequency .
So those Jeti batteries don't have a balance wire, so do they have an internal balancing device under the shrink wrap?

Ok,so I need to order a ex r7 Rex a 40 sleeve dipole antenna to go with cb220 then I can use one of the r3/rsw recievers I have also, does that sound right? As far as the balance wire in battery I have no clue I been charging my Jeti batteries on Lipo charger and working fine,I have balancer on lipo but I didn’t think you needed on ion batteries

Just an FYI, I have been flying the 2M T-One (about the same size?) with the DSM10, two A123's, REX 12A(Assist) and one R3 for six years, the last few years with a K160. The only problem I've had is a slight glitch within a few thousand RPMs which I bypassed in the throttle curve, never notice it in the air.

So using Rex& A 40 with those dipoles will help you get 30-40% better signal strength and setting it up with R3 as a clone will seamlessly provide a signal when the Rex loses the signal.
Aeropanda Manny has informed us about these benefits set up in clone and using a Jeti Box you can set the R3 into clone mode and take it out of clone mode.
Or contact Jonathan at The lighter side of RC as he also very good with Jeti setup stuff.

All Lipos even Lion lipos need to be balanced when charging unless Jeti has a Mirco device to help balance the charge.

Xicoy LG15 Advice/Help
I have a problem with the LG15 I'm using in my Rebel 2m and was hoping someone here could help or offer advice. First, I have used the LG15 in all my jets with no problems. (The only difference being the larger JP ER-150 gear in the Rebel. I have always used the ER-120 gear size).
The main gear is very inconsistent. It may cycle completely once, but then one side or the other will fail to function. It is not the same gear every time. It's random. The nose gear functions as it should - everytime. I am using a dedicated, new 2200ma 45C 2s LiPo for the LG15. The amperage setting in the LG15 "motors" menu is .6 for the nose. I have varied the main gear setting from .5 up to .1 amp. (maybe it should be higher but I didn't go there for fear of burning up the motor.
If I substitute a JP gear controller, the gear works everytime!
(I know, just use the JP unit...I will but I would like to use the Xicoy unit $$$).
Anyone have a thought on what might be the problem or solution?
Thanks in advance.

Sounds like you need to increase the amperage cutoff a little. For reference, the older Electron motors (EVo40 size) are set to 1.2 amps, the newer Classic motors run at 2.2amps shutoff. I bought an Ammeter on Amazon for $6, then hooked up my JP controller and videoed the meter while I retracted the gear, then watch the video frame by frame to see where it peaked. Keep in mind that the amperage cutoff after takeoff will need to slightly higher if you doing any higher G maneuvers while the gear are still retracting.

Thanks. The gear in my Rebel are the JP er-150 not the Electron.
However, I think your probably right about the cutoff increase. The gear will only draw the required amperage to function, correct? If they operate properly, i. e. not mechanically restricted in some manner, using the JP controller, then it makes sense that the amp cutoff should/could be raised.

With the LG15s, on the bench during initial setup, I keep bumping up the current limit until the gear works fine. Then I add two extra increments of current limit to ensure they work in the air. Never had a problem with either the JP gear on the T-1 or the Electrons on the Rebel.

Harry doesn't prefer clones but in noise signal-filled areas it's the best bet to maintain signal to aircraft.
Watch Jonathan's latest video of radio testing, i was here to help get the data you will be surprised.

Tom, you only lose telemetry if the Rex7 loses signal then the Rec3 steps seamlessly and it is only of tenths of a second.

Thought you might like that video, it took five and half hours to get all the results, but worth it.

With a 166 in a Rebel classic, ... residual thrust may become an issue. My K-142 is hard to slow down on short runways. And then there is the added weight of a larger turbine and the counter-weight to offset it. May need to dial it back a bit to add to airframe longevity too. Just my thoughts when I saw the 166. To each his own.
