JPEE,
Good to hear your tail is a lot better and you got to fly the 500 and 600.
Peter,
That is cool that you used to live in Lincoln.
I just got an email saying the demo might be canceled due to wind. I checked on accu-weather and it says the winds will be around 25MPH on Friday. So now I just have to wait until Friday to see whether it is still on or canceled. As far as I know I will be the only one flying a heli and the three other guys will be flying Nitro 3D planes. If the winds are that strong I don't know how much 3D you will see. I will PM you the address and time.
Nick

Nick,
I hope your demo isn't cancelled due to wind...that would suck! []
How is your weather now?
Mine is terrible still, the last bit of these stupid storms are moving out tonight, and then the good weather gets here!
At least I should have a good flying weekend to look forward to...
Hope you can get some flying/practice in.
Glenn

Glenn,
The weather is good now. It is around 73 with hardly any wind and blue skies.
I got 3 flights in and I probably won't get any more, since I have an evening class tonight.
Good to hear you are going to have good flying weather soon.

Evan,
I'm glad it finally all worked out for ya!!
And Horizon took good care of you by sending the AR6100...that's awesome!
Maybe that'll help make up for the wait...
LOL on being corroded from not flying!!!
Glad you didn't crash or anything...a couple more packs and you'll be back to where ya were!
Hope you get a chance to fly again soon!
Glenn

Evan,
It'll come back to you quicker than you think...just be sure to get as much stick time in as you can, and it won't take long...
Glad you are back in the air!
Now you need something to use the AR6100 in, like a plane!!
Or, another heli.....[X(]
Have fun!

Nick,
That is awesome that you got the balancer working on 3 cells now!
Does it seem pretty accurate so far?
I am glad you are having lots of fun with the various projects you have going on...and you are doing well with them!
Hope your demo doesn't get winded out....lol
I haven't gotten my new stuff from Hobby City yet, I'm looking forward to testing that new charger and splitter so I can charge both of the 500 packs at one time.
I finally finished the last stainless steel screws in the 500, from like 2 months ago...lol
On my last order from Heli Direct, I got some grommets to use on the Gaui canopy, since I lost one. I couldn't find them listed, so I ordered what I thought were dampers for the rotor head, it even said dampers in the description. They looked about the right size...
When they came in, I was pleasantly surprised when I read the bag...it says "Damper rubber pack (for canopy)" LOL, they were what I needed all along...
I tore one of the stock canopy grommets on the 500...so I went looking at Lowes today, and found some that looked about right, so I got them. Once I got home, I put them in (what a PITA), and they fit perfectly, and are a more snug fit than the Align ones....
So, my canopys are all happy now, with new mounting grommets (or dampers)

RE: are these blades any good for cp pro?
Glenn,
The balancer was working up until the end. I noticed a cell that needed to be balanced wasn't, so I shut it off and used the TP balancer. I have to mess with the program to fix that and I need to work on keeping the difference from swinging high to low over and over.
Voltage wise it is pretty accurate.
Better later than never.
I remember a thread on Helifreak about someone confused whether the grommets were dampners or not for the Gaui.
Good to hear the grommets from Lowes worked out.

Hey Guys,
Just a quick note to say I flew today. It has been dang near 100 degrees for the last three days but this morning…… it was 60 and for us here in sunny California that’s cold. I got to the local Park around the corner and it was gray like rain. I used my anemometer today and the breeze was 2.5 mph with gusts of 5 mph and that is was 60 dregrees. As I expected it was hard to see the 400-1 against the gray skies. I flew two packs but did not take out the 600.
REPORT:
Before I left this morning I put on my new Horizon BLACK CF blades after I found that the Hobby City YELLOW blades are to thin for my blade grips. I guess some fender washers or shims will do the trick later. As Glenn said, the black blades are invisible once in motion. If I did not have stock white fly-bar paddles on the heli it would look headless and it did make it a bit harder to fly. I have always used the skid rails as my orientation guide for the heli watching the light come through them to see the tip or side to side of my heli in flight so that helped. I definitely am going to have to put on either white or reflective blade tips so I can see the heli in flight.
I almost feel bad for buying that 401 gyro for my 400-2 hei because I was flying at 10+ up on the throttle curve in normal then in stunt curves and in either position that gy110 holds like a rock, shoot outs and all. I now am a 100% believer that set up is 98% of the battle. I had the camera with me but again it was not worth it as it was to gray out.

Thats cool one of the Best bikes I ever had was a 2000 Dyno Compe man that thing was HEAVY!!!! but it would take abuse like no other. I used it for training for my last couple compitition years and afew weeks before a event would switch back to a lighter frame and tossing tricks was smooth and easy. I dont keep up anymore with frames and equip but Haros were always good.
One more thing I see your in Texas I used to thrash the Austin area when I was in the U.S. Army stationed in Ft. Hood

JPEE,
Glad you got to fly today...sorry your HC yellow blades are too thin for the grips....hopefully you can locate some thin washers or some thing to space them. I still think it was nice of Align to include blade shims with the 500 ESP, mine sure came in handy!
I didn't fly today/tonight, it's just been too windy. The wind is supposed to die down, and they are still forcasting great weather (HOT...mid 80's!) for the weekend, all the way through Monday. So I should have plenty of opportunities to fly.
I just got my Hobby City order in, it looks like Christmas morning around here...LOL
I'll tell ya, I'm pretty impressed by the appearance of the Turnigy 150 watt charger...looks very nice...just hope it works as well as it looks! The only thing so far I wasn't too thrilled about is the total lack of any instruction manual, or documentation of any kind included with it.
It's also much larger than I expected, I was surprised!
I know the manual is on the website, in PDF format, but I think it really should have been included....I'll just have to print it out, I suppose.
I got 4 of the 2250 packs, some EC3's, various connectors, and a couple of battery voltage meter/checkers...I haven't had time to check everything out yet, but I will this weekend. I also got the charging adapters to charge two 3S packs at once..
I have a LOT to do this weekend!

JPEE,
I am assuming the HC blades are the thickness of a 450 blade.
You didn't listen to Glenn when he said to keep the high temps your way. It was 91 degrees here today.[X(] I want my 50-60 degree weather again.[]
Glenn,
Your new charger looks good. Least you won't have to deal with the Chinglish with no manual. Have fun with the other goodies.
I got an email saying everyone is backing out except me and the guy who invited me for tomorrow's demo. He is waiting to hear from the guy who is throwing the event to see whether the event is still on tomorrow or not. Then he will email me back with the news.

I forgot to say did anyone hear about the new Hyperion LiPo's? They can be charged at 5C without shortening their life and they are supposed to last longer than normal LiPo's. They also cost less than TP and FP packs. They can compete with A123's now because of the charge times, but the A123's still have the safety and crash resistance going for them. I guess RCGroups has a big thread on them.

Nick,
Hope your demo doesn't get cancelled after all of your preparation....why did the others back out, is it still forecast to be windy?
Those new Hyperion Lipos sound very promising indeed...
I'm sure that lipo technogy, and battery technology in general will continue to improve steadily over the next few years.
I'm hoping to get some flying in this weekend for sure, looks like JPEE's weather is slowly creeping over this way...lol
Mid 80's here is more like late June weather, but I'll take it, over the rain, and wind we have been having...
I have a ton of stuff to do, with the charger, batteries, testers, and all that stuff, I'll definitely be busy this weekend!

RE: are these blades any good for cp pro?
Glenn,
The other people didn't want to fly in the strong winds. I checked accu-weather and they now predict almost 30MPH. I said if the host still wanted to have the demo tomorrow I will be there, so that is going to test my skills! This is when I need a T-Rex 700 or the very cool 1/4 scale Bell 47 by Vario. Talk about money there.[X(]
Maybe in a year or two those Hyperion batteries will be the price of the Zippy batteries.
Hopefully you will be a member by the weekend, so you can enjoy the good weather out there.
