Dave, how is the boat running? Curious to know if you have your radio box sorted yet?

Well Darin, I ordered the dress up kit from dumas(thanks!) Well my steering is working, I'm working on the throttle now. I want to do some sanding and possibly carbon fiber the floor of the hull. The pics you see the components are just sitting there for my viewing pleasure.... I was gonna hook bullboy up with my hotrod painter, But ed found someone else, so I'm gonna take the opening. I ordered my prop and cable ferrule today. So it's on the way.... Whatcha think so far?

Looks good dave! Your making me feel bad about hooking me up with the paint job (and not taking it)[&o]...but hey you got one now. Seriously though, I really do feel bad about that because I know you tried to help me out. It's funny though the painter that is painting my boat is a family friend, and oh boy now he's got the rc boat fever! Anyways back to you Dave, maybe in a couple weeks you will be ready to hit the water?! I want to see the Dumas in action. -Edmond

I'm at the mercy of whh at the moment..... and no worries about the painter thing man! So the scarab is pretty cool, when I built it I knew I wasn't going keep the homelite, So by using alum and such to mount the fully shrouded weedy, I didn't swiss cheese the stringers, so I can upgrade in the future with ease. I'm curious as to how my budget build will perform so I may get it out soon and save the paint job for another project... This boat is just a stepping stone, I have my first scratch build in the works.... That Darn Fever!! Lol

Nice boats guys!! I've got the fever too- right now, I'm saving up for an MHZ drive, which costs more than the boat-aaarrggh. But it will look so scale. I've got my hatch cut, as well as the hull- getting ready to start glassing in the transom doubler and the stringers!

Did you install the fitting dry? Will you need to remove it in the future? I would first try teflon thread sealant, we use it on coolant, hydraulic, and oil fittings all the time and it seems to hold up to heat pretty well, and with a water-cooled header/manifold it should hold up. Next I would try loctite if thread sealant doesn't work. As a last resort if you won't have to remove the fitting.... jb weld. hope that helps!

I've used the red gasket silicon before. Be carefull not to use too much & once you have it screwed in blow through the lines to make sure the holes are clear of silicon. No point stopping the water leak if you block the whole thing up.

I like copper rtv, or teflon thread sealant. On my chevys and such, I use copper rtv between my manifolds and heads ( Both machined surfaces). And jack away, My only requirement is have your "significant other" Give mine a lesson on gifts. I wish mine would get me a zen! Good call Dicko!

I finally found the catalog, its in rough shape though. Heres a pic of the Scarab. Appears to have "38 ZXP" on deck and sides and pin stripe just above chine.

So I got to take her out today, She's not quite finished yet, I have some touches I'm gonna add, but it was a good day. I wanted to take a vid but it was hard to drive and film. After some tuning of the carb it started to come around. The carb I took off of it didn't have a high adjustment, so I took a carb off of a 30cc I found in the scrap bin, and strapped her on, The numbers on it are wt454, and 833. it may be a bit much for it but I have a header and expansion chamber on the bench that I'm building for her. I'm running a 7.2 1600Mah pack and a 374oz steer servo, and a 204oz throttle servo and their great! It turns both directions awesome! I need to finish the exhaust to get some more out of the lil homie, and I may try my hand at modding on this... So now that this build is gettting close to completion, I got a 72" mono on the books next, for this I'm buying a zen and may actually spend some money... Anyone heard of the carb i'm running? too large? She was good for about 15-20... I'm running a prather 275. all in all i'm happy but want more speed, I'm not expecting craziness from it but just some more.
