DV8R, who is flying them and what would you change?

Keep an eye on this thread as I will be building at least two of these airplanes at 100% and at least two more at 125%, it is going to take me about a year to complete this project, it will be lots of fun to do and I'm not in a rush.
I'm going to cover them with film to keep them light ( I don't do painting ) I will be making some modifications to the fuse mainly, no plastic canopy, wood instead, one piece build up wing for the 100% , 3 piece wing for the 125% ones.

Landing the DV8R is identical to any other airplane except maybe ones like a 727.
If you do not let the wheels touch the ground until it will not have enough speed to still fly there is no way it can possibly bounce.
If you run out of up elevator control at an altitude of a couple inches it will always be a perfect landing.

Could someone tell me the amount of dihedral on the DV8R's wings, building the fuse is no big deal but the wings is another story, I haven't touch the wings yet, I know I can get a nice set of ribs from the broken wings that I got, that's all I know for now 'till I star working on them some time in March.

I decided to get back into the jet business one more time, the challenge will be to see this project to the end ( I have no idea where the end is 
)
I postponed it long enough, this time I have the time to work on it for at least 3 months.
I took the dismantle jet out of the box one last time, there is no more box, it's gone, I'm already looking at where to get the plywood sheets to start cutting the templates for the parts, I will make plans for it and may have them transfer to CAD for laser cutting, is my thought.
I've never attempted to do this kind of work on a model so, it will be challenging and interesting for me ( I really need something complex to keep my interest in the hobby )
The apex of the project will be on the maiden flight of the jet, I'm sure I will learn a lot from this project and the ride should be very interesting.
Some pictures of the dismantled fuse, I haven't touched the wings yet.

Wow! That's a project! I had the same jet and it flew very nice. A couple improvements I wish it had would be: Higher landing gear. The TBM gear pretty much drags the tail and looks like the jet is sitting on the ground. Bad bounce on landing no matter how well or slow you would land it. Could have been the springs on the TBM gear but I constantly fought with that bounce.

I don't care a bit for the TBM gear looks, agreed, that didn't look the way it was supposed to look, I'm going with the original PCM looks, like the B 757, long legs big pips
I'm thinking, Robart retracts and possibly 3" and 2 1/2 Inarco wheels, they are thinner than others and probably lighter.
I'm thinking the prototype will have the retract mounts but I will install fix gears first then add the retracts if no changes are needed, same thing with the canopy/hatch, wood first then fiberglass later.
Well, off to the HD to get the Luan ply for the templates and also for the fuse body parts.

Had 3 DV8Rs all with Robarts gear and 4" BVM main wheels. The first was the original and the last two where converted TBMs. Simple mod. Worked very well and the airplane sure looked better on the ground.

Sorry, it was the placement of the main gear for the TBM version seemed to be off. Not sure where they need to be but other owners had stated where the gear should be. I would have to look back in other forums. What are you powering your DV8R with? I powered mine with a P-70 at first and then a P-120. The P-120 was great but I would have loved to go bigger Also, figure out a way to carry more gas. I think my tank was 100oz.

With that info, I will do a search to learn more about the main gear placement.
I'm thinking this three choices, 1 use my TJT 3000 ( 27 lbs trust, currently in my Boomer XL ) 2 get me a used P 120 ( I see them for sale now and then ) 3 borrow a turbine from a friend ( probably a P 120 )
To carry more fuel I could mount a central tank since it stands tall there is plenty of room for that.
The prototype will have two 50 oz Sullivan tanks but I'm planning for a fiberglass conformal tank to utilize the inner room as much as possible, if that works and I can carry a gallon in the fuse then the central tank can be used for smoke ( it has to have smoke )

Also, the most important upgrade I did was to create a venturi intake for the turbine. The TBM model simply had a hole cut in the top of the fuselage that the air would just skim over. I enlarge the hole and basically added a ramp/slope for the air to flow directly to the turbine. I feel this really helped the turbine breath better. I have attached a couple of pics of my DV8R. Loved that plane! I think it still resides in Kentucky since I sold it last year.
