MAC's New Retract Design
Quote NZ: "Robart electric, about the worst you can get."
NZ:
Simply because you read the name Robart does not cast a dark shadow on the custom manufactured retract system designed explicitly for
the MAC6's. Of course if you have to have the original 32 year old 14# plus weight of the solid rubber tire and CNC'd wheel design you are
welcome to order it from Matrix Machine @ $9k USD. They no longer have the original CNC code...$$$.
......................
....................Original "Flight Of The Intruder" main gear with solid rubber tire and CNC'd wheel (w/out brakes)
A better alternative to a Matrix Machine A6 gear is Darrell at Sierra who is creating an all aluminum scale gear.
Thanks Jetflyr knew the Vortec wouldn't have completely disappeared. I ordered six for rail work-up..

My Feedback: (2)
I also looked for my bomb release stuff, but so far all I can come up with are the bomb release clips (the cast part that you attach to stores that you want to release). I'll keep looking.
If the items from dymondusa are available, I'd probably suggest relying more on those instead, because they are more readily (?) available.
There's probably another way to rig that entire rack rail to hold your bombs, without relying on these little plastic mechanisms. Unfortunately I'm a bit short on time to be able to look into it for a while.

Ron,
Thanks. I am creating a fiberglass rail with molded removable ends to permit shortening of length to work with multiple models. It has six releases to permit releasing three or fewer bombs or rockets at a time. I ordered 6 of the Adam releases to assure I had proper dims for this to work.

1:5.5 Grumman A6 Data & Missing Parts
[QUOTE=sc0tt;12305159]Would anyone have any drawings, plans, or CG info available? Also any landing gear options other than Matrix Machine?
Thanks for any info...Scott
QUOTE]
Scott:
My four DCU fiberglass pylons (4 shown on left side of pic next to the fueling probe) were missing in our shipping carton.
What I have of original "Flight Of The Intruder" film model are built up from balsa/ply and unfortunately damaged. I would
like to borrow two (1 inboard and 1 outboard) of your four wing pylons to create fiberglass molds to permit laying them up
in glass.
We have templates which i will share for use of your two pylons. (Retract doors, Canopy cutouts (match clear canopy parts)
Electronically calculated CG using weight & balance after assembly).
As for gear, you purchased Matrix's original (heavy 14+#) air powered retract gear. Matrix no longer can make original gear
due to their change in CNC mills and loss of the original CNC code. We have developed a lighter sport scale and a scale
electric gear. Both manufactured by two of the largest gear manufacturers in N.A.
Are you interested in what I propose?
*If by chance someone else may have one of the (8) eight A6 fuselage and parts created by DCU in Texas and sold by they
and JetMart in Atlanta. The same offer is extended to you.

Seriously, robart electric are terribly unreliable and just plain old crap. I've had several sets fail May I suggest you get hold of Shane yang at JP hobby and they will build to your specs. Far better gear and probably a far better price! A large number of jet manufacturer now use there gear

Something is being lost in translation...The Robart gear you had was not the gear designed for MAC6's.
Different retraction ratio, motor, and materials. No offshore gear are in our 6's. Both the sport scale and
scale gear are made in the U.S.A..

My Feedback: (61)
Ed, if you want to offset doubts and negative comments about your landing gear please post pics or drawings of your designs or whoever is making them for you (Robart, Sierra Giant, etc).
You keep using drawings from the 2015 posts of rchobbymodels / Xtreme ARF. For those who don't know better, posting those images implies that is what you plan on producing.
https://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/12120206-post63.html
Many of us really want to see what your sport and scale gear will actually look like.
side note - I sent you the 2 pylon samples today, check your PM.

Rotisserie View Of Scale Gear
.................................................. .......
Below is a rotisserie view of my A6 mains CAD. As I said, last week Darrell agreed to do the scale gear. The sport scale gear
is a resin facade around an upgraded Robart 150HD10E lengthened to 13.5 from trunnion to axle with a stronger motor and
drive screw ratio.
The 1:1 scale head (scale pivot point) is not necessary. It is reduced to a traditional trunnion and strut. Previous gear images were
representing the shape of the 1:1 gear, not our gear.
Until Darrell agreed to do the gear I did not trust anyone else's ability to do so...to say nothing for the extreme $ Matrix quoted. The
gear facade for the 150HD13E will look similar to this drawing. Scale facade is printed, molded in an RTV mold as a resin sheath for
down tube of the 150HD13E with a trailing link.

We have been working on a few electronic functional improvements. Ever since Robart began selling their own "E" series gear customers were told to use mechanical or a radio's mixing capabilities to control gear and door sequencing. In most instances this forced radio change / choice.
Since introduction of their own electronic gear this has not been considered of enough importance to change Robart's gear controller. So...
off we went in search of a solution...and added a third function...proportional breaking in addition to gear and gear door sequencing.

The Adam Bomb releases arrived. They are exactly the same as Vortec releases. Each includes a pair of attachments for anything you want to drop. They are unassembled...which enables you to adjust the spring tension. Simple, easy to assemble...$6.95 plus postage.

Going To Carolina...To Our New Glass Guy
We are about to get back in the saddle after the glass guy's going south on us in 2022. New glass guy is retiring frorm yacht manufacturing and moving to Northeastern North Carolina. This cost us a year and a half of down time durirng which Covid visited Sam's family and I had kidney and bladder issues. Will post more as things get further in place in North Carolina.

Unforunately the person we thought was going to come onboard as a replacemenet glass guy retired and moved on in other efforts.
There is a severe shortage of talented resin and glass craftspersons.

The issue is focus and commitment by an individual. Had some apparent issues related to materials purchased/paid for as dedicated for our A6's that ended up "missing" in action... Was said by a third party to have ended up on someone else's airframe... Another had a twisted view thinking they would get rich... Glass guys have to be diverse in multiple projects in order to be affordable to attract new clients.
There seems to be a broad misunderstanding of that concept. I appreciate the thought...I really do, however we've invested in what was planned one way, then found to have drifted "south" out of our control though there was a NDA and NC contract. If you want to contact me back channel to my email we might continue this discussion in private.
You aren't speaking of Mark are you? I doubt that he wants to touch this....again
Thanks,
Ed
