What radio are you using and why?
#51
I fly with a Futaba 18SZ and have been for nearly a decade; before that a 12FG, a 9C and a SkySport 6 (dating back to the 90's). It's been reliable and capable and can fly anything I care to throw at it. That being said: if I were to buy a new radio it would likely be a Jeti. I got to hold a few and they feel amazing; I like the stick feel, the triple redundancies, the plethora of telemetry options, the location of the screen, and some of the other cool features.

It wasn't wired wrong. I had E1 plugged to 'B' port of the Cortex Pro and E2 plugged into the appropriate port of the LG15. I was was using LG15 in EXBUS mode. That was too much data. So, I ran two servo wires to the LG15 in the conventional mode, which ended the issue of the CP not reliably initializing.

Still flying my original Futaba 14MZ I received in February 2005 which started as 72Mhz and was upgraded to 2.4Ghz. I believe I was the first person to fly turbine jets with the 14MZ transmitter in the US. Interestingly enough after 18 years the only two features it doesn't have that some newer transmitters have is telemetry and dual frequency redundancy. I would like to have telemetry some day, but being a Futaba, I don't need "satellites" or dual frequencies!
If you want a laugh, look back through old RCU or RC Group threads about "computer radios" with a Windows CE operating system. Fortunately none of those dire predictions ever came true........

I wonder how many guys changed their mind about their radio of preference after reading this thread
As BV used to say, discussing radio brands is no different to discussing religion !!
The best radio is the one you like !

To be fair, this thread wasn't started by a user to try and convince anyone to change their mind - he specifically mentioned he was wanting to upgrade to a new radio himself and was looking for feedback on that selection. So I'll bet the number of guys who make up their mind as a result might be at least 1, the OP, and thus the thread will have served its purpose.

I am running FRSKY X20S in my Turbine Jets with Tandem 2.4 & 900. Have not had any signal issues and the programming is strait forward. Has a nice color touch screen and Using Zavionics RDT Telemetry adapters i get everything on the Radio screen. Alot of guys are switching over to FRSKY from other radios. They are coming out with some nice recievers this spring also with a more advanced gyro system included.
