Sounds like your low speed needle needs to be tuned. I assume you have a stock Zenoah engine? I would follow the recommended settings in the Zenoah manual and fine tune from there. I used that as my base-line when my engine was stock and dialed it in from there.

RE: My Custom 1/8 Miss Bud
Carlos, the boat runs in the mid to upper 50's right now pretty easily. I can push it a little harder but it get's scary at anything faster and I've been careful with it. I'm working on a few more mods that should help with the higher speeds a little. . . . so keep posted. We'll be taking a video of the boat with GPS soon that I'll try and post for everyone to see.
I posted this earlier, but here is Norman's Bud Boat. Norman helped me with my build and my boat runs pretty much like this video of his just so you can see until I get my video up:

Pilot, you can purchase the turn fin from www.insaneboats.com. You will have to make a custom mounting bracket as one is not avaible for our boats with this turn fin.

The shim is tapered/wedged from 0 to the front to about 3/16 in the back. You will have to purchase slightly longer screws to use since you are adding space between the hull and strut.
I also have a 0-1/4 wedged shim I sometimes use, but the 3/16s has performed the best for my set-up so far.

Yes, we just took a short video yesterday. I'll see if my buddy can post it this week on youtube and I'll forward the video.

RE: My Custom 1/8 Miss Bud
Unfortunately most of the video we recorded was accidently taped over by my signicant other the next day. There is only like 15 seconds to the video left out of the hour or so we recorded. Whoops! I haven't been able to make it back to the lake since to record again. I guess I can try to load the 15 seconds left for the heck of it.

RE: My Custom 1/8 Miss Bud
BudDriver, Right now, I know why you said that You feel afraid to push all throtle on your Miss Bud.
Yesterday I launch my Miss Llumar with all modification, and It was like ride a Mustang, hehehehehe. The engine has a lot power and I need to remove the back Spoiler to have some control.
I need to put the front spoilers to try have more control.
The high needle was too open, because my engine is new. It runs over 45 mph.
The next weekend, I'm going to close more the high needle, and maybe found 55 mph, but I don't know How to ride this wild horse, hehehehehe

RE: My Custom 1/8 Miss Bud
The water was calm with a little wind. When I went in front of the wind, my boat wants to do a flip.
I'm going to put front end spoiler, to try resolve this problem, like a BudDriver.

RE: My Custom 1/8 Miss Bud
Hey Bud , I took Miss bud out for the first time yesterday Your Tips that you gave us are the very truth . Read all three pages posted maybe two times I see the same questions repeated but I can see that with out these tips this boat would be onthe the bottom of the lake. I went to lake Piru and found a Big and glassey cove with only a couple of fisherman and ducks . Started it up and let her rip the next thing I new I was out of gas and all the fisherman had multiplied .Thanks again for the bad ass set up . The only problem I had was If you dont get on the throttle right away the nose seamed to plow water into the front of clowing. easy fix NAIL iT Steve

Hey Glassy, the pipe holder was custom and hand machined for me. I'm glad to see you got your boat running. With the right set-up, you can get them moving huh!
Wildgas, good to see your boat running too. . . . hopefully the air foils work for you as well.

RE: My Custom 1/8 Miss Bud
Last upgrade, I put weight in the nose, and push down +3.5 degree the back spoiler.
Right now my Miss llumar is more easy to drive, and the top speed is 46 MPH. I'm going to chance the propeller to a Octura V967 (3 blade) to find more speed. Also i change the pipe 2" band to the original pipe to find more RPM.
The next week end I'm going to launch my Miss Llumar again.
