Dave,
No got rid of it, But I must say it was a great flying plane. I performed several airshows last season with it!

I used to put it inverted and spin it around like a set of helicopter rotor blades, it would just hover down at the edge of the field forever without dropping a foot of altitude! I ended up selling it to Sam@ATA another flyin buddy!

I think I remember Sam saying he bought it. Does he still have a job with ATA? So many job cuts at the airport these days... and I was one of the first.

Used Cardens for years, and never EVER a scratch or ding on the wings!!

Plus, Dennis and Caroline are VERY friendly and RESPECTFUL of customers and their wishes!!!

Just me nickel's worth of free advice!

The children's sleeping bag idea is perfect. My wing is 103 inches. The sleeping bags are 54 inches.
A bag on each end and it zips in the middle.
$9.99 a bag.

YOU CAN NOT SERIOUSLY COMPARE A CARDEN WINGBAG TO A SLEEPINGBAG. YES A SLEEPINGBAG WILL KEEP THE WING CLEAN AND PROTECT IT FROM MINOR DINGS/SCRATCHES, BUT HARDLY AS DURABLE AS ONE OF CAROLINES WINGBAGS

that may be true

-but-

$20 bucks for two sleeping bags vs. ~$90 bucks (or more!) for dedicated wingbags...

they may not look cool and might wear out in a year, but the saved $70 bucks buys a lot of beer

Sure I can! As you mention it will keep the wing clean and protect it. What more is there? They wont wear out. Oh yea, I also have a cool Spider theme.

OK, you guys win... but first tell me this take a standard hammer and drop it from 3' above the wing onto you sleeping bags heavy end first and tell me what hapens.

now before you all go crazy, I used to use an old thick quilt made into a wingbag(as thisk as a sleeping bag). this very senario hapened (hammer fell of bench) and guess what my 2500.00 airplane had a damaged wing panel. I now have carden wingbags and yes they are 90.00 but I duplicated this same test with the carden bag ( i used the damaged wing) and guess what no damage not even a dent in the balsa. this is how i was converted to the wingbag. has nothing to do with looks or status symble just experience. You also will never catch me with a 90.00 wing bag on anything other than a 25% or larger plane.

bryan1601,

How can the carden wingbags protect against hits like this? Do they have plastic (read: armored) sides?

THESE BAGS (AND OTHERS I HAVE SEEN) USE 5/8" THICK FOAM TYPE PADDING IN THEM. THE PADDING IS VERY DENCE AND ABSORBS THE IMPACT OF THE HAMMER AND DISPERSES THE ENERY OVER A LARGER SURFACE AREA TO SOFTEN THE BLOW.

I have used my sleeping bags for quite some time now, I have nothing but good things to say. Since I don't leave my aiplane next to my workbench and I don't intead on droping, throwing, or even juggling hammers. I suppose the 82.00 I have saved per airplane can buy..................More airplanes!

Tom

My childs sleeping bag even came with a neat backpack, flashlight and water bottle all for 7.99. What did your bags come with?

A pic of my $9.99 wing bag. I may have my wife sew up the trailing edge but I doubt it. With both bags on they will join and zip in the middle.
I havent give it the hammer test and hopefully won't!
