Hello,
A message in the dark to see if any one has any info on this FB F-86 I have just purchased a semi-started model
and am looking for the numbers and any information that may help in the build. Also I will be flying at 6000' and am thinking a 100 size turbine will be the ticket 22.5 lbs. thrust. Not sure on the pipe for
a 100......

Thank you for the information the thread is great. I am thinking a 100 due to the loss of power at our altitude and
the high density altitudes we get in the summer 8500-9000 feet. Would you have the final throws/cg on the F-86
now that you have maiden the aircraft? I see that there are some numbers in the thread, also the numbers on the
1/6.5 Skymaster F-86 are close they use 290mm back for maiden CG.

Ok Robert,
A few things you should know and check before even thinking about throws etc.
I had bad experiences with this model, first take off she wouldn't rotate and finished up in a pile of rocks at the end of the runway! Turned out the tail had negative incidence which is not easy to notice on a dihedral tail!
However, the factory did replace the airframe for me so check that carefully! Should be same incidence as wing.
First flight with the replacement ended in disaster on landing, the main gear literally fell out! Difficult to see but advise you to reinforce the area around the mounts. There was hardly any glue in mine!
I repaired all the damage and on the next flight my DX18 Tx packed up and I lost the lot! I now fly Jeti!
I rebuilt the original airframe and all is now good now albeit a bit tatty.
Having said all that she does fly very nicely but comes in a bit quick.
Regarding cg, forget figures, she should balance dry, uat full on the mains. push down on the tail and she should stay there, push tail up gently she should sit back level, easy!
Throws, Elevator, all you can get, she tends to lose elevator authority if you come in too slow. I have 20 up 12 down, 30% expo
Rudder, all you can get.
Flaps, all you can get. I have 20mm t/off, 40mm landing.
Ailerons, 20mm each way, 30% expo
Regarding power, a P80SE is damn close to a 100 so I think you should be ok there, I find that mine needs a lot of runway for take off and would not contemplate flying it off grass.
She really is a ***** cat flying but don't slow down too much on base finals, I have seen one bite!

Thank you very much this gives me some insight into this aircraft. I have been using my older radio's JR 9303 and 9503,after
your issue with the DX-18 I may leave the one I just purchased in the box......

If you have to buy a motor go with the 100 size. Its slimmer and lighter than the standard P80 can size motor. Power wise they are both the same around 22lbs thrust which is plenty for this jet. You mentioned flying at high altitude where is that??. I do some flying in colo and it can get up to 9k density. I no longer own one of those sabers but the one I had with a P100 would definitely fly at altitude. I don't see the FB saber listed on global jet anymore it must be discontinued.

Hi Vin, hope you're well.
I wasn't implying that he used a P80SE just that an 80SE or 100 would have enough grunt.
Obviously the new gen 100's are better because they are smaller,

Robert, I visited the Jets Munt factory in June and spent a couple of hours with Gaspar, I have to say that if I bought another turbine it would be from him, very clever, nice guy.
Having said that I bought a Kingtech 140g in March Vin and it had to be replaced, kept flaming out on idle but the new one works fine.

To much to choose from but I think someone in the thread mentioned that 25lbs. may be overkill for this jet?Vincent how
was the approach speed on the jet flying in Colorado, and do you remember your set-up. Gary I am concerned about the
QC on the Jet Central but the lifetime warranty and the numbers look good 2.2lbs weight 24lbs thrust. The Jet Munt may
have better QC???? same weight 22.5lbs thrust that is the Merlin, not sure if they replaced the VT-100!
