Hi Rebel 1
You're right about the tracks, sprockets & road wheels. The hubs are actually quite easy - as long as you use the later separate hubs (as on the Taigen M41) The technique - grind off 4 of the 6 bolts, leaving the top & bottom most ones. Either cut or melt a groove in the space between the bolts. Cut a short piece of plastic rod & glue into the groovee. Repeat on the other side of the hub, Paint. Done.
If you've got the older single piece wheels & hub, talk to Erik about getting a set of the newer ones.

drive wheels and tracks are different on Pershing, though I've seen early Pershing ads with T91E3 Heng Long tracks. only real common stuff is road wheels and maybe trans, but they had PZ 3 trans and all you do to that is change final drive shaft to make it a long shaft. Still not sure how it got so far out of scale when the rest of their units are reasonable. I can see the details in the turret missing but the elongated rear deck and fenders were so out of proportion, maybe it was just a size comparison to the Pershing and Tiger that it went awry. doesn't matter what matter si redoing the top hull mostly and going to a proper scale zamack track. Then there would be only minor details to fix that allow a model to be easily scaled.
Still no matter mine will be reasonable when complete.a better representation when sitting next to PZ 3. If the hobby continues to grow someone will 3D print a proper top hull and AFV tracks will be approx 150...i can dream.

Great work on the Bulldog. Could you explain your process for narrowing the tracks. I would love to do all theses mods, but with out narrowing the tracks it wouldn't be worth it. I read how Alan 123 did it , but I know I don't have the patients do do all that. Also, if you could post more pics of you BG that would be great also.
Thanks

Hi Jim
Presume you mean x19912, as I haven't cut up my tracks.
Had forgotten about my part in this thread, interesting to re read. Woz made the 4 bolt hubs available on his shapeways site - just search 'M41' there.
Ran in to a bit of a problem with the lowering of the hull - when you do that, you need to shorten the upper hull to fit, which means you run out of room to mount the Gun Travel Lock - available from Taigen - .
I've been otherwise occupied - Scorpion & Cent builds - so haven't done much more on mine.
More M41 stuff, in case you missed it - http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/rc-t...html#linkbacks -

Rumor has it there is a more accurate Bulldog planned as a future release. The problem with the current model is it's out of scale, and that's why it's too big. The currently available Bulldog is closer to 1/14 than 1/16. The new model, hopefully released within the next 18 months, will be much more accurate to 1/16 scale and should take care of most of the problems that currently have to be fixed on the HL model.

To be honest, I can't remember which manufacturer was supposed to be looking at a new bulldog, but I wouldn't rule out taigen. After what they just did with reworking the Panzer 4 I wouldn't be at all surprised to see them rework the bulldog and give it a metal lower. Now that would make a very robust platform for a number of different projects. You could do the gorilla and the duster as well as the bulldog.

Hi Gary
Was hoping Erik might weigh in to refute/confirm.
Yes, the Taigen treatment would do nicely. Have you been following the Gorilla build on RC Tank Warfare?
Not overly fussed on the Duster, have a 'what if' in mind for bulldog AA, but it's a long way off - too many other projects on the go/stall. I'd like to do a LVTP6/LVTPXX which has a bulldog chassis, but different engines.

What changes did TAIGEN do with the PZ IV. I looked on their site and didn't notice anything?

AFV had m41 tracks for sale, quite spendy as they were nickle silver, they were used on MRLS launchers they have on their page. with 3d printing coming on so strong now we jsut need stl files that would allow printers to make proper scaled parts. I am scanning 1/72 units with open source cyclip scanner. still tuning it in.
hope to be able to scan a proper 1/16 hull in the future.

It hasn't been released in the US yet, but is available in Europe, and they've released a new panzer four with an all-metal lower Hull and a metal turret and it also has the new taigen electronics with the separate sound module and proportional turret rotation and I believe they're adding a shoulder button to the tx for machine gun sound instead of having the switch that they do now.

Hey Mal, I have been watching the gorilla build. Pretty fascinating. What do you have in mind for an anti-aircraft? I'm sure you've seen mine, where I put the quad fifties on top of a bulldog. Gotta love those paper panzers.

Hi GaryOne of the reasons I don’t like the Duster is that the gun tub is so open – the crew relatively unprotected – AA1-M42The Germans had similar problems with the Wirbelwind – AA2 - & the Ostwind – AA3 – they solved it with the Kugelblitz – AA4 – My idea is to follow their lead, but update the weaponry, with a Gatling. But not the 20mm Vulcan (M163 – AA4a), which I think is a bit too small, and not the 30mm Avenger (T249 – AA4b), which is tad too large, so 25mm falls in the middle and is relatively standard with the Bushmaster. There is a 25mm Gatling nowadays – GAU 22/A, - AA5 - (a development of the 5 barrel GAU-12 Equaliser that flies in the Harrier II) it flies as the armament of the F35 Lightning II, but unlike the Vulcan & Avenger, it’s 4 barrelled, to improve accuracy & reduce weight - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GAU-12_Equalizer - The Russians have a similar looking system (though 30mm) on their ships – AA6, AA7I mocked up a drawing of it, but it’s at home, so you’re got to use your imagination instead.Creating the ball turret – I found this place in the UK - http://modelshop.co.uk/Shop/Strip-Shape/Balls-Cubes-Eggs/Item/Balls-clear-2-part/ITM6807 - and got the 120mm version, buts that’s about as far as I’ve progressed as yet.(The smaller spheres would be ideal to build Tintin’s Moon tank – AA8 - )
