JPEE ~

You just got confused, but I cancelled that Airwolf and instead went with upgrading some electronics and getting some new batteries for the birds. Its still on my list though !

Glenn ~

Fly that sucker like ya stole er'....... LMAO... Naw, just kidding.... Keep that beauty your baby and put it away in the glass display case next to the Trex 500... I finally got that Scorpion motor and Castle esc hooked up ! The power is insane... Everything runs so cool its scary... Its the same motor Nick has. I didn't realize its such a monster at 525 watts...Lol...

Heli ~

I like and use the Futaba 9257 on my 450 for the tail servo....

Cheers,

~ Jeff

Heli,

Ijust switched my B400 over to a 9257 as well....but they are not low budget servos, that is for sure!

Heck, I've been running the stock DS75 tail servo on the B400 for the last year or so...it's nothing special, that's for sure, but it does work....and is like $15! I wouldn't suggest it if you can do better....but in a pinch...

Jeff,

Wow,is thatan EIGHTYampESC?? LOL You could powerupall the street lights inSequim with that thing!!

Nice stuff! I'll bet it does have monster power now!

I'mcurious as to how much power the 450Pro/V3 has....some say it'squite powerful, others, just so so...Iguess it depends on what youareused to....for me, coming from a stock B400....it's probably going to be pretty amazing, after watching the video of Lucas Riva flying a box stock V3...

Nick ~

I was going to use that esc for the 500 with that 1600kv Scorpion motor, but I think I'am going with the 1400kv motor Scorpion for the 500 and so I was thinking of getting the 85HV Castle esc then. If not, I'll order another Castle 80 amper for the 500... Still haven't decided. I was going to order a 60 amp Castle esc for the 450 since the max continous amps is 55 amps on that -6 motor, but then I saw for $17.00 more and 2 grams heavier, the 80 amper will also work good.

Cheers,

~ Jeff

Glenn ~

Yeah I can't wait to see the power ofit also. I was scoping out the Pro hard a few weeksago. I'am curious on thatnewly designed motor, andthe final weight also... Lol... Yeah overkill on the esc and I love it ! But it helps a little since that motor is throwing out 525 watts and 55 amps continous. Its so sick... At first, because it was a 4400kv motor I had a 13t pinion on and was out there testing it running a headspeed of 3,900 rpms... Talk about punchouts... Whew...! I now have a 11t on and averaging 3400 currently. My batts are barely warm, motor barely warm, and the escis cold...With my connectors on it and ready to go I think it was 58 grams, I'll have to go check... Lighter still thantheB-400's 40 amper... Isn't thatcrazy...Lol...

Take care,

~ Jeff

Jeff,

UH OH!

Mine is sitting here safe and sound....

Iguess I'll wait and see....that's not a good thing. One thing Ihave read many times is that 500's don't crash well....

Hey Guys,
This is what I wrote on WHEEEEEEE for Rick Barrick to get him to try and fly his heli.

While flying with LOOKYJ this morning he was looking at my 600 and compairing it to his.Guess what he noticed?? He/we cannot figure out but both mixing arms and with their linkage that goes down to the swashplateare 1/2 ....GONE...................NOT THERE!!!! CUT OFF OR BROKEN OFF. See the picks below. LOOKYJ kind crapped when I took her up and flew and she is stable and flyies so well with all of this stuff missing!

Hello Rick Barrrick,

Well all of the hype I have been giving to go out and fly came true today for me. As they say ; IF YOUR CRASHING, YOUR NOT LEARNING. Today I learned a lot!

I crashed my 400-2 when I got lost inflips and rolls. I lost a main shaft, F-shaft, and new set of blades and flybar. No worries, I dropped my truck tail gate and pulled off my T-Rex 500 and off I went again. I was not going to be held back by my crash!!! With3 minutes in that flight and I was very high and then I hear the motor drop off to next to nothing. Here comes my "baby back to earth" the hardway. I yelled out to those around me "Im in auto-rotation" and at full pitch trying despertly to grab some air to slow her down as she accended.Iworked very hard to minimize my damage and then "SPLAT" with the 500. Well I lost my landing gear and possibly, my mainand f-shaft's, myautorotation post and canopy posts....we'll see if there is more. Now here is a lesson just FORYOU. If you just hover and don't go out there and just do it...YOUNEVERWILL. Now Rick I am writing this so you and the world can see I cashed two heli's in 10 minutes time. Get over it I say, take your T-REX out of the Hughes fuselage and fly that baby, if I can do it YOUCANDOIT too. Now I would be lying if I said I did not feel bad for 15 minutes after both crashes. Once I pulled in my bottom lip and went back to the truck and drug off the T-REX 600 and flew that without insident! So the moral to this is "get off the couch and go do it"! WEALLwant to see you HAPPY and airbourne with your heli's.

JPEE

BTW
As I said to Rick, Iam not ashamed to stand naked on the street corner. I forgot to mention the 500 came down on LVC BECAUSE I had all of my packs on the bench charging them last night, then moving them to the "charged next pile". We had company last night which got me scattered it turns out and I put a UNCHARGED battery in the charged pile! So when I spooled up I was running one pack FULL and the other at 3.6 so she did not last long in the air. I can say................if you every hitLVC on the 500 you do not have a but 15 second to make your move!

Oh and by the way. LOOKYJ stood there in amazement as Ikept pulling helis off the truck, he is my witness

hey guys

what would you do, I am sure all you guys know I am running a fm setup on my heli, how do you think I should run the antenna on the reciever, should I put it through an antenna tube, support it on the skids and wrape the access antenna around the antenna tube?

Heli,

That sounds like a good place to start, the more antenna length you can get exposed, the better off you will be...some helis, like my 500 still even have the mounts on the skids for an antenna tube...depends on how much excess you have, Iwould try to extend it as much as possible, rather than wrap it. Pretty much the longer you make the antenna wire, the better the reception, almost like an FMradio that you listen to...at least that is the way Iwould do it. The Qaurk's FMradio does not like it when Idon't extend the antenna wire fully, letting it hang under the skids....

JPEE,

Wow, sorry to see all that!! Man, two in one day....ugghhh!!

The 500 looks to have relativly low damage, at least from the pics and your description....hope it's not too bad. The B400 looks like a typical, rubber-stamp-the-parts- list crash, all the usual stuff...

That makes me want to check my pack voltage before every flight, just to be sure!

On the 600, you were mentioning a wobble...LOL, Iguess you found it now!! Man, wonder how that thing flew even close to right??!!!

yeah glenn, I was thinking the same, I am just worried having to much wire exposed loosely, will have more of a chance of getting cut or frayed

Heli,

Yeah, good point. Maybe if you have some left at the end of the tube, you can secure it to the landing gear strut with some tie wraps to keep it from dangling or getting caught on stuff...just an idea....

Depends on how much you have left over after the tube...

Keep us posted....

Come on Glenn, cough up some more pics.... I know your tinkering with it.......... It sure seems like a clean machine from what I've seen in all the pics. A mini 500.... Lol... I still love my 450, its just perfect to fly just about everywhere ya know ? I really think its my favorite.

Jeff,

Ihear ya on the 450, it's a great size, Ican fly it in places Iwouldn't try the 500, for sure!

I'll snap a couple of pics here in a sec....I'm at a good stopping point anyways, got the TTdone, and mounted the boom, tail box, struts, etc. I am going to pin the boom, Ihave a better, variable speed drill at work, I'll probably do that at lunch tomorrow, and get that out of the way...better to be safe than sorry, should do the 500 while I'm at it!

BRBwith a couple of new pics!

Jeff,

Heres' the latest, hot off the digital cam...lol

Not too much new here, looks like your basic TT tail and boom, pretty straightforward, no huge surprises on this part of the heli...

Still, gotta love the TTsetup, so sweet to work on!! NOBELT!!

Its looking really good ! I love the small sturdy H-fin on it... I just recently made mine smaller also. I also think the frames from looking at it are going to be tough ! I still have yet to break my inner aluminum frame, and the outer CF frame, so you should be golden there also. I sure like that TT on there... Cool though ! Take your time... Dang Nick must still be pretty sick...

Hey Guys,

400-2 just past her back yard flight at 9:30 pm. earthquake time. In the day light I'll have to reset the tracking as I can it is out a bit. Ihave the new $3.50 blades on. They are thinner than stock eflite woodies. They are like Align 325 Pro red and whites. This set was perfectly balanced too!

Glenn, she looks very nice! The 600 wobble I posted back a bit was the balance tape was not longer needed, why? but I spooled up w/out blades and she was fine. Put them she shook. Took off the balance tape she was smooth, what can I say?

Jeff, +2 on causing a brown out in your area when you spool up the heli with all of the new electronics. Is your home extension cord long enough to fly her low?

Nick, feel better

On the 500 front. My buddy found my landing gear ! whooya! It arrive tomoarrow morning her to my door, yea buddy. Then she too will be in the air.

JPEE,

Sorry to hear you crashed.

Jeff,

Dang Nick must still be pretty sick...
I am doing alright, but I have to share the computer with my dad, so I can't be on all day. I am usually on in the morning and afternoon and he gets it at night.
