I’m finally back on the A-10. The factory hand ‘hacked’ the pod inlets ( actually a little over trimmed since the dumpy fans already leave a gap on the mounting lip) I decided the only way to sand flat was make this, it needed flats to get through the former. Quick spin in a drill and done.

I have the same A-10 and my all up weight is 74.3 lbs with fuel no ordnance. It fly's great and has stood up well. Having said that I do inspect the plane prior to every flight for signs of fatigue.

I have saved a tonne of weight in the pods, I expect it to save a lot of nose weight. Using JetCat P-130RX, so over 300N will give the A-10 some performance. Had Grumania make me some tail pipes rather than use the restrictive originals.

Finished lining up the tailpipes. P-130Rx mounted on composite balsa rails.

Mine is also the same weight and it flies very good. I’ve had a few less then perfect landings (down to Cg I think) and it’s held up very well. I feel the heavy weight of mine might be due to heavy turbines which needs more weight up front to counter act the heavy turbines. That being said, it really does fly just fine at that weight. Mine is powered by ATJ 140s and I never feel that it needs more power.

Decided I couldn’t live with the gap on the fan install-when I looked I needed to sand even more to remove the rough cut inlet lip. Why the factory can’t leave the lip much larger so it could be trimmed to match the fan housing. Decided to fill and paint the void...joy!

This one should at least be lighter than most. I’m saving everything I can at the rear end to save weight needed in the nose.

I got the kit end of 2017. Not sure what that makes it!

Maybe G2. I’ve asked Anton with the difference is between them but haven’t heard back.

It’s not light, but also does not scare me when I pick bits up!! Paint chips easily, there is a lot of excess resin in certain places, I’ve cleaned as much away as possible.

So pod finally finished after having to move the two turbines back...seems SM wood work position varies, so don’t mount the starter too close to the fan until you check the other pod!
Finished weight of the pod averages 2473g ready to fit.

Don't mean to hijack the thread, but those of you that contribute to the thread, would probably know. I am trying an experiment this year with Skymaster A 10 wheels and brakes on Mibo A-10. When you fellows mount your tires on the rims do you glue them on and if so do what glue do you use.

Thanks
AKB

I have a gen 1 kit. I have the nacelle mod, but wasn't there something about the elevator attachment needing reinforcement as well??? Obviously don't want to add weight back there, but don't want the tail flying off either!

From memory the failures here were more the tailplane folding, so the spars were capped from within the servo opening

New fans we did for my A10! The quality is superb and I already got 20 flights with no difference compare to the original fans.
