I have crt rtr what upgrades do I need to start racing. I already have the 16mm big bore shocks, high torque steering servo, and the bow tie mtr tires, is their anthing else this truck needs? And will the hyper 21 race engine be enough for the truggy?

What's the best motor I could buy for the X1 CRT to get the best speed and acceleration for under $250?

I was looking for something around .28 or .21.

Thanks!
You can get a Jammin .28 on A-main for $199.99, this is a tough engine that is designed for truggies, you can also get a Go Technologies .28 there for 209.99, this is a little known company that has great engines, or you can pick up a werks racing B7 Pro .28 for 259.99. All of these are great truggy engines for a decent price.

I'll be biased and say try the LRP .28 Spec 3. Can't beat the 175 dollar price tag. I've got 2 gallons of 30% though mine and it runs great and is so easy to tune. So much juice I stepped up to a 15T CB with no loss of low end power. If I had the space I'd step up to an 18T CB.

yea, but remember, you have to look at the power curve over the full range of RPM's, not just peak power.

I totally agree, but here's the [link=http://www.lrp.cc/e/news_flash/detail.asp?id=1131]dyno results as tested by Xtreme RC[/link] for the LRP .28 spec 3 Truggy motor. They gave it a perfect 10 out of 10. It only fell to the novarossi .28 by .13HP and that motor costs at least twice as much. Tell me what you think.

I am definitely not knocking the LRP spec 3. I don't have one, but everyone that owns one says it is amazing. I just meant that different engines have different power and torque curves and some are smooth and some spike. Drake designed his engine for racing so the power curve is smooth over a broad range of RPM's. Its all a matter of money and application, to find something that works.

I just built my CRT about a month ago and I put an OS .28 XZ in it.

On my first outing to the track, I was politely told to 'tame it down' a bit before bringing it back to the track.

It now has a very small carb restrictor and 3 head shims in place and I can still run away from the owners LRP Spec 3 .28 powered 8ight-T on the long straights.

I run Byron 20% fuel and a P3 plug, with a JP-2 pipe. Everything else is stock as it came out of the box.

I can get 9-10 minutes run time per tank with my heavy trigger finger on the controls. I'm sure others could do even better.

Food for thought.

I would love to see your OS .28 CRT next to my OS .21 V-spec CRT too see how they compare as I have been torn on wether to stick with my V-spec or get the .28 XZ, what a decision.

What kind of track tells you to "tame it down"!?!?!!? Other people have to kick it up, if they can't keep up!

I was at the track today and I must say, a first happened, I broke a servo horn, that has never happened before so I didn't even think to take any extras with me. It snapped clean on the brake side after a very hard landing off of a double. I decided to keep running without brakes which proved to be very difficult, especially in the corners as I over shot most of them. Oh well, I still had fun
