I just have to give some more Kudo's to Jim at RCSpecialties. He solved another muffler problem for me on a 1.80. Here are the pics...it hides the 1.80 in the dummy real sweet. Incredible sound and no loose connections where the muffler meets the header.
Thanks Jim!

Hi guys,
I've heard great things about the PERRY PUMPS. How do they work? Are they connected to the nipple on the back of the crankcase? Which model should I get for my FA-65
Thanks!

There is a Perry that mounts on the lower two backplate bolts and it run from vibration. Seems to work pretty well.
One of these Perry's is the VP 30 and the other is the VP 20. Right this minute i cannot remember which one is which.
You can also run a pressurized tank and a Cline regulator. The tank is pressurized from muffler pressure through a check valve. Some people also bleed off some of the crankcase pressure through a check valve to pressurize the tank.

Question. Has anyone run the flex pipe on a 1.80, and do you think I can get enough pressure off of the pressure nipple to pressurize the tank with a Cline regulator?

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !
Perry VP-20 is the oscilator and the 30 is the crankcase vent. Im running the vp-20 on a 180 . Mounted directly it overpowers the needles .Had it tuned in at 1/4 from fully closed.
Moved it back to the firewall and tuned the pump in from there, all the way open has good fuel flow but still not enough, hooked the tap back up to the tank and presto! The engine is tuning in very nicely now.
Lots of people are running the 20 on the firewall BTW it does not need to be directly on the engine but I would start there first.

I have another question.....[sm=50_50.gif]
I read through my manual to my Saito Pretty thoughrly, can't spell. Anyway i didn't find anything anywere in there about running this engine inverted. I'm putting my Saito in a Biplane and inverted seems to be the best way to get it in the cowling. So i stopped before i did anything else to see what i could find out about running these engines upside down. I'm sure there is a post here about it and I did a search. But unfortunatly Rcu's search isnt the greatest.
Am I just asking for trouble mounting it inverted?? the instructions to the plane show an OS 52 mounted inverted in the plane. So i just figured my Saito 62a could be mounted the same way.
Appriciate any input. Only thing I could see that may be a problem mounting it inverted, is it flooding alot or hydro locking From excess oil getting in the head like a radial engine. I'm hopeing that i wouldn't have to pull the Glow plug everytime I try to fire it up, well any tips would be great thanks.
I did find this post About Inverted so i guess it would be ok. Still wouldn't mind hearing a litttle more about it. Crankcase breather do you just put a longer tube on it and just run it out the bottom.?
wouldnt mind seeing some pics of others Inverted Saito's just to get a better idea.[sm=idea.gif]

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !
could some one tell me what the difference between the 150S and the 150(H) is?? I am looking for a Saito 150 for a new project that I will be starting soon and I find both advertised but no one seems to know what the difference is. Any info would be great.

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !
The very first 150 were high compression.
But since that time the only difference has been evolutionary changes like the muffler and the length of the crankshaft nose.
If you look around enough you will find the 150S
These are all the same engine. The only difference is the advertising.
There is a little evolutionary sequence letter on the top of the right hand engine lug and one year they had a "H" on them but they are beyond that now.

Don't know what your refering to No picture posted or information on what works for you. "Linkadrip is a Chudfutts[sm=bananahead.gif] or sometimes a Warlexis[sm=punching.gif] on rare occasions can be a Scaromouch[sm=spinnyeyes.gif]" Hope that clears thing up a little[sm=lol.gif]

Scaromouch is correct. I dought there is anyone around anymore to know what that is. I will be suprised if there is. Skilimouch sounds like a good one too.[sm=thumbup.gif]

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !
These numbers are for a young fellow who wanted to know what 3 blade props were suitable for the Saito .62.
Saito .62
Fuel PowerMaster 15%/18% 80/20 syn/castor blend, the last that I have.
Plug==GloDevil 4C Special
Master Airscrew 11x8 three blade rpm==10,162
Master Airscrew 12x6 three blade rpm==10,121
Master Airscrew 12x8 three blade rpm===8,115
Graupner 11x7 three blade rpm=======9,300
These are all approximately 100 rpm below peak, I attribute the low Graupner numbers to the fact that its blades are much wider than the MA's blades.

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !
I seem to have made a couple of huge mistakes. The first one was purchasing a Saito FA-100T without researching this forum first. The second one was placing the thing on a beautiful new SIG Waco SRE (see the attached photo). I've raised the fuel tank to be more in line with the carbs., but I'm still stuck with an apparently lousy running, ornery engine that may not have the power to fly this plane. Oh well, it's only money.

Very nice looking engine there.[sm=thumbup.gif] Bet its loud with the flex pipes on it[sm=47_47.gif] Cant imagine you having problems with it. Saitos are the best wish i had the cash to fork out on one of there radials or twins i just like the way they look.
Has anyone purchased the Turbomuffler and adapter here on the RCU trading place? I'm thinking of getting one for my Saito. having some issues mounting the current muffler in the cowl on my pitts just wondering how good they are if there worth the price.
Thinking i might just get the 90 Degree Fitting for the engine and mount my stock muffler but the Turbo Muffler looks pretty Cool.[sm=shades_smile.gif]

SK, that engine should be very straightforwrd to set up and run,. Set the airbleeds halfway across their holes and then set the HS needles about 3 turns out and fire it up. Next procede to lea each HS needle about 1/8th to 1/4 turn at a time alternating back and forth. Use a prop that you'll know the ballpark rpm for a .90 sized single. Say a 14x6 at 9,500 for a Saito .91 single, Jim can correct me if that is wrong. As you approach 9,000 you'll be very close, I have a 1.30 and that's the way I did it. It has the same two carb set up as yours except its carbs are 2 needle.
