wasn't someone going with a Kolm 135cc twin?
I would think you would be better off with the CARF mustang or spitfire......
Not only are they bigger ...but they are going to fit that engine... ....
The ROTO 85cc inline twin would be more inline...(no pun int) with a 50cc warbird....
I would really like a CARF Mustang....

My experience suggests adding minimum of 30 days to target ship date (lots of variables crossing big pond), so mid-July. Given the relatively short Summer here in the Pacific Northwest, I'm likely to triage my BOM decidedly very, very slowly in favor of field time (ARF kit already ordered). Unless, of course, we get another Horizon or hobbyzone 15% coupon
So, like you, I'll watch, listen and learn from the post of others and update my BOM accordingly.
Cheers

Well guys, I pulled the trigger and ordered one of these. Local Hobby shop says sometime in June. Hope so, I'd like to have it ready for Warbirds over the Rockies. Ok, now here's my question. I've got a ZDZ 80 without a home at the present..........TOO MUCH ENGINE? Just looking for some feedback and thoughts. I have flown over powered Warbirds before. I'm a fairly experienced Warbird pilot so it wouldn't be new to me to have an extremely overpowered airplane. I know there's a Hanger 9 designer that hangs out on these threads once in awhile. Hope he sees this and chimes in. Thanks for your thoughts and feedback.

Ron, Clark put a DLE85 in his TFGS 'Stang and has been ripping up the sky for several weeks now. And I thought the Princess was fast! I haven't flown with him yet and now he has some repairs to make after an unfortunate dead-stick. Ken is also in the process of finishing up a TF with a DLE85. It should be ready in a week or two. I'm keeping the 3W75 in the Princess although I just put a DLE85 in the Meister 109...yup, beats the snot out of that G62 that she came with!
I'm really having a hard time trying to wrap my mind around you wondering if a ZDZ 80 is too much engine for this plane. I believe Ryan had one of those in his Yellow Jug and that's what..80"? On second thought, maybe a 60 would be better......for you!Personally, I wouldn't put anything less than an 85 in this bird...I mean whatdoyawannado...be the flight leader or tail-end-Charlie?? Choose well Cap'n!!

fytrjok,
Uhhhhhhhhh...........let me think..! NOPE, don't wanna be tail end Charlie...lol. BTW.......It's good to hear from ya. I know your always lurking around out there on these forums, but you've been kind a quiet lately. We'll see how it looks (the ZDZ80) when the new 51 gets here. Wish it could be ready for WOD, but that ain't gonna happen. Local Hobby store says mid june to arrive. Also ordered the new Hanger 9 60 CC Corsair. YUP....I deeed......just building up the hanger. Went to Arizona in March for the OEAF spring fly in. Took three birds came back with one. NO, I didn't crash anything, sold two of them. Any Chance you and Clark can make it down to the "THE BIRDS OF PREY" Warbirds Warmup In May? Saturday....May 10th to be exact......Come down Friday night, I'll put you and Clark up for the night and trow a burger down your troat......REALLY. Oh, bring the cute blond tooo.

I live in Colorado at 5000 ft elevation. Density altitude issues require overpowering a plane to obtain anything close to sea level performance. Does anyone out there know if a D.A. 85 will fit. I have not seen any diagrams or dimensions on this plane yet. It looks like a nice plane, I'm anxious to see one up close!

Keep in mind this is a huge undertaking and a complicated model. It is likely a couple years out......after all, you discerning types wouldn't want anything to nit-pick on an ARF like this, right?

The E62 will fly it nice or HH wouldn't have used it. Like you... I am looking at and narrowd down to the DLE85 or the ZDZ90 (which I know nothing about). Fred (condor) has the 85 in an Aweoworks and it's 'just rite'. It's a mustang and I just like big power even if I don't need it all - all the time. Shoot my 60 size P51 has a YS170 w a Biela 17.25" 4 blade. (Bracing for the bashing. LOL) .... The darn engine/prop/gear cost 3+ times more than the plane. That's what mustangs to to ya. Lol.

ThunderBoat42,
Good answer, I like how you think. I got a ZDZ 80 sitting around out of work and I know where it's going. I like to go fast and make lots of noise. Can't wait till these dang things get here. Bench is cleaned off, also a brand NIB 11X JR radio to go in. Yes I'm ready, yes I'm ready, ...........
It's the weekend, gotta go fly
