What was your first real RC car?
My first was T3 that I still have. But I got it because one saturday I went up to the lhs with my dad when they were racing and I seen them racing then I caught the bug. A couple days later I went up there and bought the rtr version with my own money. Everyone was like what a waste of money, but if they ever drove it they would probably go buy one too. And now I have a DS with the black tub. But unfortunatly they are both up forsale/trade now.

What was your first real RC car?
My first was an old Kyosho on-road car, 2wd with a .12 OS motor in it. The car at first, I thought, was a Pure10, but was actually older than that! It was made back in the late 80's.....anyway, I had it back in like 1992, and since, I was hooked on R/C!

Grasshopper
My first car was a Grasshopper. Got it when my dad was stationed in Korea in 1985. I raced all over Korea with it and competed with the RC 10's . Now that I look back, I don't know how I did it. I must have been a much better driver than I am now :-). I still have the grasshopper and I am planning on fixing it back up just for fun.

Wow! What a time warp!
Now let me think...My first car was a Tamiya Lamborgini Cheetah. Same chassis as an XB 311, kinda looked like a mini hummer. Man did I have a lot of fun with that car! I remember when my neighbor's rottweiler chased it down the steet and caught it with its teeth! It survived that with only a couple of scratches. That was way back in the late 70's or early 80's.
Next Tamiyas I had were the Holiday Buggy, then a Ford F150 (same chassis as the Rough Rider and Sand Scorcher) and then a 4wd Thundershot. What great fun all those cars were!
I'm just amazed at how many of you still have all your cars. It makes me wish I still had mine.
Anyways, thanks for the memories and great thread!

RE: What was your first real RC car?
My first real RC was an RC10, one of the first models from the early 80's.
I'm still looking for one NIB just to build and stick on a shelf.

RE: What was your first real RC car?
My first real r/c was a tamiya blackfoot that i bought from a guy at a garage sale. Believe it or not he converted it to a 8 wheel pulling truck. It had two rear transmissions with two pullmaster motors and four wheels in front with four wheel steering!!!
It was a really awesome truck, but like a dumb kid (i was like 12 at the time...which was 12 years ago..ouch) i eventually pulled it apart and made it just a regular blackfoot and beat the hell out of it for years.
Ahhhh, the good old days...LOL

My first car was an 1/8th gas car made by John Thorp. It had preesed steel wheels molded foam tires. It was powered by a Veco 19 engine. It also had no gears just a cogged V belt.

RE: What was your first real RC car?
I was a lucky little boy.. Cuz my parents bought me a brand new Blackfoot f 150 when i was 6! I ended up breaking alot of parts and my dad kept "rigging" and glueing things back together for me. I eventually blew out the MSC on it and it sat on a shelf for years. I just now rebuilt the gear box on it, put in an XL 1 traxxas speed control, and rigged the steering on it. Works great! The original 540 motor seems to have alot of zip!

RE: What was your first real RC car?
My first car was a kyosho raider pro I had it unasembled for like 6 years.I finely built it like 6 months ago because I was out of work on a medical and had too much time on my hands. That was a great car even though it weighs a ton but I beat on it to hard and striped out a diff gear-the end. Still it was that car that got me so interested in this stuff that I almost instantly started looking at modern designs to buy and now I am working on my second .
