There is very little cost difference in cast verses machined in the US. Now if you wanted to buy 10,000 cast cases from overseas they would be a few bucks each. We have also developed a way to build a bullet proof low cost twin. In fact they may just make singles all but obsolete. Lots of interesting things going on behind the scenes and I have found new enthusiasm for this business.

I'm happy for you and the rest of us that may benefit from your renewed enthusiasm! You sounded a little down on the biz this past winter.

Hi Keith,

I,m very much interested in your new sport 50 engine for a scale project. Should customers wanting to get placed on a pre release order list call up or just wait for more info via this forum or your website. That $299 price for a prepaid engine sounds extremely good.

thx Dave

Yes I was a little down about the gas engine business. It seemed that no one appreciated a quality American built performance engine. Other manufacturers played the name game but there is much more out there than that. Others wanted the cheapest thing they could buy from overseas. We found ourselves caught the middle. We didnt have the name to compete at the high end and we didnt have the price to compete at the low end. BME revolutionised the market 12 years ago with the introduction of the BME100 which at the time was the lightest in the 100cc class beating the competition by over 2lbs. Every single engine manufacturer has lightened their engine since we did that. Now I plan to revolutionize the market again by offering quality twins and singles at prices not yet seen.

Sending an email would probably be best. Its hard for us to take every call but we can check emails at our convenience.

Thank you

I think BME has found the winning combination. The masses love things that are both shiny and cheap.

I agree w/BME's market prediction wholeheartedly. I had decided to stop buying singles until the DL-50 came out recently. The performance & price was what moved me. I am extremely likely to buy your new economical twins, and very likely to buy your new $299 50cc.

Please dont get me wrong there is a market for high end expensive engines. Some people will pay for the extra performance. Thats why sports cars sell for the price they do because a vehicle can only get you there and get you back. Laws and policemen limit how fast. There is a market out there that has been ignored by most engine manufacturers. Some guys want a good quality affordable engine that will do the job. Its not that the customer cant afford the higher end engine its that he is just not going to spend that much for a marginal performance gain and possibly less engine life.

I only wanted one plane this size, so I dont mind spending a bit extra and getting the best. I was under the impression that BME was/is making the best. But after waiting a loong time I gave up and bought a 3W.

Like you say people will continue to buy expensive sports cars.

Hi Yakman, In our opinion we produce some of the best engines available. That is the reason for the delay on our 55cc. We were not happy with it and didnt want to sell anything that didnt meet our quality or performance level. The 55 has been redesigned as the 58cc and will become available this summer. Crankshafts, cylinders, pistons, bearings, pins, rings, ignitions, prop hubs all sitting on the shelf waiting for crankcases that are being machined now.

Here are the numbers everyone has been asking for, these are with the stock muffler.

24x8 Bolly carbon fiber 6600-6700 rpm
22x10 Mejzlik 6800-6900 rpm
Not bad numbers for an engine of quality priced at $299

Sinergy, the bolly carbon props turn lots of rpms, and are very loud!

This is the sport line. It will compete with DL, 3MM, etc.

ORIGINAL: 3D Joy

I wonder why it does not have one of the 110 heads.
It will get its "arse" handed to it too .... if it goes up against a DL50![sm=what_smile.gif]
