Hey Mart, run the push rod in a copper tube that will stop it flexing.

Seems like we have a few comedians on here well for those of you who dont think looking after two kids and bringing em up from babys is a propper job thats your problem.Me i dont give a toss ,Brod if you think the mercury is a propper boat and this one isnt then we shall see when they meet at the lake .I knew i should have kept this thread off this forum (heck i was warned) looks like he was right too many fools playing the comedian, now i can take a joke heck i like a laugh but when the jokes on me then it no longer becomes funny so if you have nothing to contribute to this thread as regards comments on the build or recommendations i suggest you take your jokes and misguided outdated opinions somewhere else[sm=punching.gif].
Mart
ps i dont know why i even bothered defending myself against these comments as we all know children never listen!!
Oh mart, didnt know my liitle post would upset you so much.
Its alright for you to post off topic in other peoples posts, but when it happens to yours, you dont like it.
Theres a word for it i think,oh yes,its a hypocrite.
You'd never be able to not post about your little boats,it gives you a warm buzz when people reply and say,'Looking great Mart'.
Very sad..

One only has to read your many posts to realise that,i read some yonks ago and did.
I;m sure i'm not the only one who thinks this,in fact i'm positive.
Very sad..

As for meeting at the lake, well thats obvious, you dont go with us no more.
The time we did and i took some video, your little boat was well shown up by my little boat for all the world to see.Which you didnt like.
Again very sad..

I've nothing against wooden boats its you who i'm taking a dislike too, pretty sharpish.

Add me to your many admirers on here...

WOW Brod thats so bloody unbelievable mate i dont even know where to start but your wrong on every count mate.I had no big problem with people going off topic what i have a problem with is you in particular making snide comments about work!! you obviously think my work is less important than yours( and yes it is work welcome to this century),i wonder how your other half feels about that.I have taken it for weeks now little comment here another there it gets pretty annoying after a while,as for meeting at the lake we havent met because of circumstances nothing else and you dam well know it so dont even go there. As for your boat showing mine up thats prettyy dam laughable to be honest .I def dont hold grudges but enoughs enough when you insult me as a person and a father then its time to stand up and say something,if you dont like it back then dont give it thats all i can say.Ill say it again no grudges here if we meet im sure we will smile about this ?have a look from my side and think about what you said thats all i ask,if you wanna be mates fine if not that says more about you than me .

Mart,I like your build so far,and will be watching as you progress.I won the Zippkits Rocket from the raffle MGB had,so any tips or comments you get on your thread will also benefit me or others that are building a Rocket.I have my building table, glue ,clamps, sandpaper, and other hobby tools ready.I don't have any bricks though.I do have 1 gallon jugs I can fill with water for weight.I'll either put in it a Zen 260 or a Sikk marine that I have sitting here.Take it slow and easy and post lots of pics.
Cheers mate you will love this kit it goes together in no time,if i had all the bits at hand id have it half done by now .The sikk will push this boat well theres plenty running them with sikks allready. Its just in the thunderboat class i think the rules are you can only run a stock zenoah but for those not racing by those rules anything goes .

Steve i planned on using either carbon tube brass aluminium copper whatever i can get to do the job cheers anyway mate, have a safe flight chat when you get back .

Cheers Tony where could i race it?bet it means travelling down south no doubt [],does this mean you think i darent ?,never been scared just not that interested in racing or should i say the traveling it seems to involve .Then theres the cost ,the more i think about it the worse it gets [].If there was somewhere not too far like a club that held races it could be fun maybe.I know theres a club In Bridlington that someone might have mentioned ages ago that ran hydros not sure?,maybe when im in yorkshire visitting my parents ill take a trip with it and see.

Dont forget you need some driving practice!!! Driving a hydro is a hoot!! Nothing like sliding your way through a turn.

Always loved the hydros

Mart, the fees for the club at Trafford Water Center include insurance. It's only 20 mins or so away from me. It can get quite choppy though cos the the end they allow us to use is where the jetskis are, or at least it used to be, they may have renegotiated now it's a legit club.
My cousin owns Cheshire Model Supplies and I know he was talking about starting a club there, might be him that's running it, dunno, not spoken to him for 18 months or so.

mart

i agree about the travelling , but if you can start at club racing and then go from there , thats how it happerned for me just got together for some friendly sunday racing with some other nutters and got the pratice in them moved over to national racing and omra
pitty the club has now closed down as its a 120 round trip for some testing !!!!!!!!

you shot some vidio of windy windy last year is that far for you ? that one ggod race and its a weekender too
plenty for racing arround brum area too thats 3.5 hrs for me [][][] one way [&o][&o][&o]

club racing will bring your skills up ( not saying your not skilled !!!! ) but its another level from just blasting up and down on a sunday afternoon , or morning !!!!

as for the hydro as matt has said driving them is very good fun , a bit like an escort with bald tryes in the wet ,,,,,,, plenty fun

Cheers Kev for that i seem to remember a few videos of some boats running there and it looked pretty choppy .
Tony thanks for the reply mate yea windy is about 1 1/2 hrs drive away,if im totally honest racing competativeley has never been something ive been interested in i guess its either in your blood or its not .I know how much it costs just to keep a decent sports boat running etc and can only imagine what the costs of actually trying to race competetiveley would be.Guess ill just stick to bashing about on a sunday or whenever the mood takes me,probably on my tod but if the hydro runs well ill build another for my lad so we can race.

Once you have the runnig gear and the boat - which you have, there is no real reason that racing needs to be that expensive - you have made the outlay on the kit, so all that's needed is race entry fees, fuel, and that's it - travel to the race of course.

Then the repairs!!

But they can be needed just from playing about on a Sunday. I have even started keeping spares stock!!

Hi guys sorry ive not been keeping you posted but anyway i finally managed to get a little more done, the non trip sides are fitted and glued in,these are a little tricky to get right as you need to bevel both edges to get them to lock in under the bottom and sides.Heres a pic and also a sneak preview of whos gonna be driving .Hope to be able to get the motor mounted tomorrow then the tube can be glassed in at the correct angle then ill remove the motor again.

managed to test fit the motor and the pipe in the hull, the header i have is a 100% one not ideal but i think useable,my thinking is run it as in the pic then use a bend and exit out of the oposite non trip side, it clears under the pushrod route ok by about 1"so should be ok any thoughts anyone has please feel free to share .

Mart, just a thought... if you want your pipe exiting the side have you thought of using an FG tuned pipe? You know, for cars. That way you'd do away with having to watercool the manifold etc too. Made hell of a difference to my FG when I put it on, quiet too. Got one here if you want to give it a try. I'll find some pics for you.

Thanks for the offer Kev but i think ill stick with the water cooled pipe as it will be under the canopy and could get quite warm at 60 mph or so .
