I am a Libertarian. I vote the ticket. We usually get 3%-5% in most elections. It's been like that for years. The current ruling parties both believe that there are certain rights (in The Bill of Rights) that are sacred. The only party that demands strict interpretation of the Bill of Rights is the Libertarian party. Returning full rights and freedoms to the people does not come without some pain, but the current agendas are much more damaging and divisive.

I don't see an end to the madness. The people who have the means and power to "right" the wrongs are the same people that have the most to lose by doing so. There was a time in our history when a man came to government from the private sector. He made or limited laws and then went back to the private sector and had to live by the laws that he shaped. We now have professional politicians who have more than just the law to influence.

A revolution of some sort has to happen. This does not mean a people's army. It could be a total breakdown of the financial system that causes a massive paradigm shift. Hard to say. It seems every great nation goes down this path and in the end, it's not a great nation anymore.

Yes things are getting tougher and tougher and the two partys that have been in office seem to fight like cats and dogs and then together they make stupid laws! It is getting hard to tell one party from the other! I miss Reagan! You guys sure got it tough up in your area with all the job loss can not really move out of there because jobs are leaving here too! good luck! Bob

Yes Gov jumped in and saved them and now they are bankrupt! Nothing should have been done!
Welcome to 20%+ unemployment, and no industrial base if we have to fend off China or Russia.

You know I actually agree though - on the condition that businesses are kept small enough to be allowed to fail.

If this many people actually take Rush Limbaugh seriously, then the country truly is screwed. No doubt about it.

The Republican strategy of mind-warping simplistic people into thinking that "government" and "liberal"("some whipped cream on your pie Bob?" "Oh yeah, gimme' a liberal portion!.." Ooohhh...... Tisk tisk...) are somehow bad words seems to have won the day.

The world is a huge complex place, and governments are necessary and inevitable. So some libertarian utopian cartoon vision of family farmers taking care of themselves is nothing more than a silly, immature pipe-dream.. Human nature is always there - a constant, and it's not nice, and it's a huge false assumption to think that if people are just left unfettered by the government that we'll all get along.. I agree politicians are scumbags, but I point a big part of the blame for the failings of politics and the government at the media.. - oh, scumbags like Rush Limbaugh for ex.. The same media via which that simpleton pseudo-cowboy actor Reagan became president. It's the media that destroys the democratic process.. This thread makes it clear how much the media keeps people from thinking critically for themselves. The process itself has never been and never will be perfect - the founders were squabbling and bickering with each other the whole time too. There's never a perfect static state without conflict and imperfection, and there never will be. It's all something that has to be chiselled at and worked on. It's the democratic process.. Things change - for example, oil runs out, there is MASSIVE overpopulation, MASSIVE overconsumption of resources - from energy to fish to water to well everything... All these changes if anything logically require more gov't, not less.

In any event, it's not government that will be our downfall.. But the "R" word.. And yeah, if we go down that path this thread'll be closed for sure....

How'd this turn into politics? We were just talking about laws and how they affect (or might affect) RC in the future. When people start talking about politics (political parties, radio personalities, whatever) it just becomes a lot of useless venting. We ought to be focussing on things like:

- What laws or enforcement protocol exists today
- What laws or ordinances to watch out for
- How to bypass / controvert them (ie. legal loopholes, stealth, 'outlaw' running, etc.)

That might actually be useful. Going on about politics itself is just a waste of time.

A typical response to Libertarianism. I find it very condescending. It's the "people don't know what's good for themselves, but government does" response. Does anyone need to be reminded that government IS people? Right now we just have people who put personal interests before country.

Access - You are right. Going on about politics is a waste of time. We should continue to be apathetic...it's less stressful!

As is said, "If you think health care is expensive now, just wait until it's free." (ask the Canadians) Health care is a private enterprise like car manufacturing, financial institutions, and the insurance industry. Government has no role in any of them yet look how insidiously they have inserted themselves in these areas of "private enterprise". There is no doubt we are on the road to socialism and nationalization of private enterprise. What's the philosophical difference between us and Venezuela? I dare say, "nothing". I am simply sick of what is happening in this country. Just wait until you get your 28-page census questionnaire, and know that "community organizations" will have access to that very private information that doesn't even ask if you're a citizen, but does ask the weight of everyone in your home, your full address, your phone number, your job, your income, etc., etc. Just what, other than your address does any of this have to do with the representative purpose of the census? Simply not asking the citizen question nullifies the entire 28 pages of VERY private information. Oh, never mind, I forgot you don't have to be a citizen to vote...

HerrSavage your saying the media is shaping our thought process through Rush and others. No! Rush, Glenn Beck, Mark Levin and others are not media they are entertainers and radio personalities that keep us informed as to what Government is doing and how Barry straight lies threw his teeth. If media was shaping my thought process I would be sounding a whole lot different. And your right. The real media such as CNN, CNBC, ABC, MSNBC, RUETERS, and family are all very heavily left leaning organizations wh are trying to manipulate by lying , completely ignoring, or by giving half truths about what is going on.. Hmmmm.

Ok I am still waiting on a reply from MIAMIDADE.gov on the laws and by laws to flying and driving RC in public or state parks. As soon as I have an answer I will post it. I'm having a hard time finding the info again so I rather put some of my tax dollars to work and have them find the info.

Another thing. Some of these safety advocites just may affect our hobby being that we use lead weights or tape to weigh our cars down for racing. Just a thought.

Exactly. Would you take medical advice from Hugh Laurie because he plays a doctor on "House"? Not a whole lot different than listening to and absorbing the vitriol spouted across the airwaves and newsprint by the aforementioned folks from either side of the aisle. With that said, I thought we were on a radio control forum? A law which may affect our ability to participate in said hobby is a topic of concern here; pages and pages of pointless bickering about who is to blame for this law, as posited by those firmly entrenched in their partisan beliefs, whichever camp they are in, contributes nothing.

As Access said, we should be talking about THIS law and any others, national or local, which affect the hobby. If it wasn't posted before, here's the link to the CPSIA: http://www.cpsc.gov/ABOUT/Cpsia/cpsia.HTML

No, it is about what belongs and what does not belong. If you wish to debate politics in the specific, there are other sites and forums for that. No one is saying you can't debate politics. Just not here.

If a candidate / personality mentions RC, relates to RC, discusses RC, and only in that context...

An RC is not a 'vehicle'. I looked into this once before for purposes of laws making it illegal to operate a vehicle while intoxicated (a cop had been lurking around some of our bashing / quasi-racing sessions).

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vehicle
http://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/vehicle

"A conveyance; a device for carrying or transporting substances, objects or individuals."

We could say that no form of the word 'vehicle' relates to RC because our trucks/cars/etc. are clearly not designed to carry people or cargo. A vehicle must do one or the other. The device itself does not count as cargo, the cargo must be a seperate entity from the device.

Very rarely you do see an RC actually carrying a person like with Shawn in the barbie jeep vids. But this is not how 99+% of us are using our RCs.

How are any of those channels you mentioned "heavily left leaning"?? They only "are" to you and people like you because Rush and co. say they are... Rush is full of SHXX man, seriously.. He's a multi-hundred millionaire profiteere who has profited from poisoning the entire political process... I can't believe how many Americans fall for his BS anti-liberal, anti-goverment, "Obama is a socialist" garbage...

A channel like Fox is ten times more ridiculous than CNN and the others for being so blatantly political..

CNN is just ridiculous because their presenters are so annoying..(If I could strangle one person on earth it would be Jonathan Mann from CNN International.. I HATE that guy - not becuase of his politics - but because of his phony exaggerated way of speaking..) Yes they occasionally have these PC-oriented discussions and overall sappy coverage which are nonsense too - but IMO they are less evil than what the right does. CNN and co are just trying to appeal to the largest audience. NOT manipulate, brain-wash, and poison them like Rush and his ilk.

The left is certainly culpable and guilty of all kinds of BS too - but the big fat mess the world - and especially the US - is in now is largely the Republicans' doing.

I know this all sounds too political - but actually it's not. It's apolitical. Politics is nauseating....(precisely because of people like Rush Limbaugh... - AND Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, etc..) I just hate to see people get all warped and brain-washed by scare-mongers like freakin' Rush Limbaugh... I'll agree that there needs to be a counter-position to the left, but it needs to be intelligent. Rush is FAR too smug and full of himself to be truly intelligent.. I'm sure he as a guy is, but his "message" and the effect of it are downright BAD for the country.. And in any case nothing is really black and white - it's all complex shades of grey.. But yeah, people like Rush Limbaugh can't profit and get attention from grey....

How is the hope and change working for ya? My biggest problem of having the R next to my name is that I only get to vote once and no longer get to vote after I am dead! Well enjoy your taxes going sky high with all this hope and change! But one day you will have to pull your head out of the sand! Bigger Goverment is the answer? and you wonder whats wrong with this country? Your opinion and a couple bucks will get you a cup of coffee or at least for now!

My fear is the banning of our glow engines. IAW California emissions laws , two stroke engines burning oil in the fuel being big polluters. This would suck, If I couldn't use glow engines in my buggys, I would give up the hobby before I would go electric.[:@]
