Thanks kenny.
Unforunately those guys are in melbourne(1000km's away from sydney).
It looks like they've got all the necesarry stuff on their website, i just don't know what to order.
I'd like to walk into a shop and play with it all, hold it in my hands, you know get a feel for how it all bolts together. Looking at all the bits online, i've got no idea what i need. Plus the local rc shop is pretty weak.

Don't try to do the deck in one piece. It's easier to do the front in two pieces and lets you have the center to use some clamps. Then do the side decks, center strip and the rear deck in seperate pieces.Should be patterns for them if you're using Dunlap plans whether the paper plans or the downloaded ones.Use clamps or weight where ever you can.You could have done the sides by positioning the sides on the frame and starting at the third frame from the bow, dribble a little thin CA glue down the frame and apply pressure, till it is set.Doesn't take long.Check to make sure the side is going to cover the frame to the bow and back to the transom.Do this at each frame forward and back till all are tacked on.Then go back and put some CA along the length of the chine 3" at a time and applying pressure. After the sides are tacked on epoxy every area inside the hull where the frames and stringers touch the sheathing.Oxford County Crackerboxes sites building section has lots of pics for doing the frames and sheathing. http://occrackers.multiply.com/photos/album/7/Building Here's a couple of pics when I was building mine.

Thanks a lot tidnab thats very useful tips there.
I like the sound of your suggestion to use CA glue to tack it into position instead of cable ties, but i just can't see it working near the bow where the panelling bends a lot. I had a hard tank and later changed to an IV bag setup and had both on the carb side between the engine rail and the side of the boat.I made a tank tray out of plywood and sealed it with 2 part epoxy and attached industrial strength velcro straps to the ply to wrap over the tank or IV bag to hold it in place.I found a place to hook the end of the IV bag that has the hanger hole in it ,to elevate it.

If you need a model boat shop in sydney try George Pap at Hobby Depot. He's good to deal with him. I've bought stuff from him before & had it shipped to Adelaide.

Hi all >a lot of info on these page but me i would do the top sheeting in one sheet at a time with ca i say it for guy that been building boat a long time because it you mess up the you have more work on hand then you thing .And by using 30min min epoxy you have more time to move it around to fit it better. But it will be better if you use the two sheet made into one sheet. To do this is to lay the two top sheet on flat bench and arrange them so that the good side face up .now using wide tape tightly tape them together in 4-5 place them run tape down the entire center seam..now flip the joined sheet over and hinge them open .Now use 15-30 min epoxy in that joint and lay the top sheeting on the bench and wipe the seam clean off excess glue and let sit over night .Next is to glue the sheet to deck frame to do is to cut 20 pieces of tape about 8" long or so then sand the bottom of the sheet with 200 girt paper then clean now mix 30min epoxy ans brush cost top of frame then bottom of sheet now just lay the sheeting and tape it down you can add weights on center if need .allow to re over night >hope this help

Hey,
Its been a while but i'm back making progress.
Just chopped a hole in the bottom of the boat and epoxied the stuffing tube in place. It's actually just a section of the whipper snipper tube that i cut off (i know i'm a cheapo!)
Oh and lookie what arrivedrop / strut / prop shaft / dual rudders!
One question:I've got a 1/4" drive in the prop shaft, and the same in the motor. But my flex cable which i removed from the whipper snipper has 1/4"squares at either end, but is circular in the middle. Can i just chop it to size, and then somehow crush the chopped end to make it square?

Fitted the rudder and strut and flex cable and took it for the MAIDENVOYAGEsunday night.
Now, I don't have any RCgear yet so just held the throttle open with a bolt, but it was fun.
Unfortunately 2 blades of the prop snapped. Piece of garbage! Its simply a flat piece of metal cut to shape and bent to make a prop. Do you guys think i have a chance for a refund? Ibought two of them: the other one is untouched but i don't want to use it now! I thought all props were meant to be a solid cast of brass... beware buying off ebay!!! Anyway, the boat worked great

Aramacir,
Mine is 50 inches length, so yes it is the same size.
25cc is what most people use. I'm using a 23cc and my brother in law is using a 50cc.
I'm probably using a propeller that isn't really all that good so if you're going to do things properly get a better 1/4" hub prop (mine is a 5mm one).
Why does height matter?

Hi,
Looking at your boat, it's the same size as mine.
FYI: This is the prop i bought:http://shop.ebay.com/?_from=R40&_trk...+boat+478+prop
And this is the combined rudder & strut i bought:http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI....m=370294292590
Again, these are all 5mm bushing items which aren't as beefy as the 1/4" ones, but suit me fine with my under-powered engine.

Yeah they're great. Not too loud which is good, i think they're over-propped a bit which makes them rev lower, but thats probably a good thing, noise-wise.
I tried adjusting the strut to raise myprop higher for a surface-drive kinda setup. It revved higher but not really any faster, so i put it back down for the sake of less noise and maybe less engine wear at lower revs.
It's certainly fun, we don't take it too seriously.

Hey CB Sydney,
I see that you like my boat enough to use it with your name!
Thanks. I take that as a compliment.

Is that *your* boat??? I found it on a blog post somewhere and its beautiful! It totally inspired me to get into these boats, but when i built mine alas it does not look quite (anywhere near) as pretty. No idea how you got it looking so gorgeous. One day i dream to build a life-size one of these boats but i'm worried that if i can't get a 1/4 scale one to look any good i might struggle with a full sized one.
All the best.

Yes, that is my boat! And I was inspired by a picture of the "real thing" that I saw on the internet somewhere. I have had my share of real boats and don't want any more unless they can fit INSIDE my truck!! ha ha! Mine is a ZippKitt I-Box. Maybe I did go a little overboard with it. Joe from ZippKitts liked it too. He had it on his web page for a while. I thought that might have been where you got the picture from.

Larry- Thanks and YES, we DO have to get together this year and run the Crackers! I still have my old WH Cracker and another friend has one too that we run together. Here are some pics of my old one.

Joe- Thanks for a GREAT product and support. And thank for the compliments. That means the most.
