RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !
I just put some MMO in it and worked it real good. It seems completely free now but I'm wondering what happened. Should I try rumming it again or just bag it and send it back to Horizon? Thanks

Cool power normally has no castor oil in it. You need at least 2 oz per gallon castor oil in the fuel for break in. Look in the Saito manual and see if they don't recommend a little castor in the fuel.

From the Saito Manual:
1. Fuel. For maximum protection and
longevity of Saito engines, Saito
recommends a fuel containing 20% oil
and 10-15% nitro methane. If this blend is
not readily available, the next best
selection is a high quality 2-cycle glow
fuel, such as Hangar 9 Aero-Blend,
Omega, Cool Power, K&B, Power
Master, etc. Use of fuels composed
entirely of castor oil is not recommended.
A mix of synthetic-castor oil is acceptable

Do you think I did any permanent damage? Should I run it again and see what happens or just send it back to Horizon. We're supposed to have some good flying weather this weekend here in Oregon.

If it is free now, I would oil it up good and run it real rich some more and see what happens. If it doesn't seize after a couple tanks you can try leaning it out some. It must be a tight one?
If it seizes again you better call Horizon

It may be a few years but sooner or later you will plug your glow ignitor into the starter connections again.
Here's your glow plugs

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !
I to would like to join. I have a couple of saito 91's, and old 56, and most recently the fa-100t. About the fa-100t, I have read several accounts of this engine being a dud in the saito line up. Is there anyone out there who has had success with this engine? The engine is about 8 years old, but has never been out of the box, still "new". It does not have the air pump. Do you good folks advise me to sell now and get a good single, or, if operated properly, will it make a good engine. I plan to put it on my daughters telemaster. In addition, ( I am a high school physics teacher), my school is offering a ground flight training class next year, a fellow teacher will teach "full size" instruction, while I will teach the RC before and after school.
Thanks in advance

Meesh, any advice for someone new to the fa-100t? I have read several reports of persons having problems with the bearings. What has been your experience?
Thanks, Jeff

Lots of information on that web site Cooperfuels about glow plugs pretty cool. thanks for the links to the sites Hobbsy and w8ye.
I'm sure Some were down the road i'll end up frieing another glow plug. Most the time i leave the Glow ignitor pluged into the Ports. But i'll order a few this time just in case.

The 100T is not exactly a beginners engine but in experienced hands there's no reason why it wouldn't be reliable. I have a 100T but it has never been run. I do have its big brother the 182T and it runs very nice with no trouble.

Thanks, the information I have read suggest that the crank case pressure does not change due to constant volume, hence, no oil to the bearing. It seems to me that is the pressure remains constant, any blow by would be feed to the lower case and oil the bearing. In the worst case, it seems that adding oil the lower crank case would have to help. I would not consider myself a beginner by any stretch, but I am new to the saito twins. An impulse buy on ebay, imagine that! I would be open to trading the engine to a 180GK if anyone is interested.
Thanks again, Jeff

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !
Hi Chaps
I need some advice. I am running in my Saito 80 again after a year laid up, it was only run in for two tanks prior. I have set the HS needle about 300rpm below peak and I am currently setting up the LS needle. So far I am 3 full turns in from flush with the housing and I still haven't got the engine to hesitate/die when transitioning quickly from idle to 1/2 and full-throttle. It will idle for about 20 secs then die, which is in keeping with the info on saito-engines.info that the LS needle is still too rich.
How many turns in has anyone else got on this engine, is this amount too much, do I have a lot further to go or have I done something else incorrect? Also if anyone has any rpm info and number of turns on the HS needle i'd be interested, I'm swinging a 13x6 MAS and have set about 9800rpm on the HS.
Cheers
