RE: Official Tamiya TT-01 Thread
yes i know but i have a mamba max esc with waderner motor 20s/6t that is a lot thirsty and powerful than mamba 7700 from range 4 to 40volt and will dry any top quality nimh battery in seconds,so ib or gp cells don`t count here.

you can use lipos in any esc that supports lipos, including cars, boats, planes, helis,no mater the size they have, they will fit anywhere, you get great improve on weight, more last time, more burst,no problem dropping the voltage after charge,no overheating, more volts,11,1 volts in a 90gm lipo is huge different on a 7,2 nimh at 400gm with all this you dont need ni-mh anymore.

RE: Official Tamiya TT-01 Thread
Quite a price difference... my decent-ish nimh from radioshack was $25, while enough lipo to fill up a 1/10 battery compartment is a good $100 minimum. Also, lipos definatly arn't only for small stuff- Its just that they are reasonable priced in small stuff, while the huge packs can cost up to $500(20c cells at about 7500 mah, 6 cell pack).
Newb question- what oil shocks are reccomended? Not looking to spend a lot, but I think when I upgrade the motor I will need them?

have a look to ebay about the lipos prices and leave the local shops and big companies, about shocks gpm are very easy to get out of order the piston they have is bend very easily and they are not made from good material,go for 3racing shocks they are the best.and cost 2,3 dollars more.

RE: Official Tamiya TT-01 Thread
you come to the right place, you find almost what you want in www.towerhobbies.com
first take drift tires
metal ball bearings
aluminium propeler shaft
metal motor mount
the stock motor is quite good for drift
aluminium turnbuckles also
a 7,2v battery at 3000 i prefer venom will do and last longer
and upgrade the shocks to oil ones with medium silicone oil
there are more parts to seggust but this will do for start
i wish i have a son too

SORRY RiceY....you posted just as I was looking to be sure....Thanks
The tt-01d comes with several options other than just drift tires. The tt-01r does not come with esc, radio, servo, body or paint, that is what the "r" is....r = race....so the racer can add his own parts he already has.
You will be just fine with the tt-01d....Good luck and enjoy
Thanks

RE: Official Tamiya TT-01 Thread
Can someone please tell me that i'm not the only one thats having problems stripping the little white gear that go on the main shaft inside the rear gear diff? I'm getting this nasty noise as if the gear between the motor and spur are grinding but thats not the case. Because the spur gear isnt getting chewed up. But another funny thing is that it only make that nasty sound when i'm going forward. Reverse is fine? Any suggestions of what the hells going on?
