We got the motor on, cut the firewall back 3/4" instead of drilling out the hole in the firewall. Carb fits perfect. CG worked well with 2 servos in the rear. Weight come in at 7 pounds, 2 onces so far with motor on Including muffler and electronic ignition. Laid in two servos and receiver also.Just need covering. Hopefully we will make the 8# and under class!

WELL... I FOUND a NIB Goldberg Ultimate. Excited is an understatement and it's in route. THis build I will make a few small changes from my last one.
I am also going to make a template for EVERY piece of wood in the kit and make it with the part number and sheet number.....in case I or anyone else needs repair parts.
Sooooooo ... what is the initiation to get a "Brotherhood" number? (remembering college days)

RE: Carl Goldberg Ultimate 10-300 Brotherhood.
I am returning to the hobby after many years. My wife and kids bought me a Goldberg Ultimate kit years ago, the builder that was going to build it for me moved away. My son and I are getting ready to fly again this spring. This kit was a gift from my family, it is my favorite plane. I am looking for a builder to build this kit for me and my son. Anyone have a builder that they could suggest? All help will be greatly appreciated!

I have been looking, and even spoke with a couple older builders locally. Everyone is going to ARFs. Really hoping to get this kit built.

I am about to start another one.... its in shipping. When I get it built... (love to build) Icould possibly trade the completed one for the kit. plus replace the covering/glue/wheels etc ( no cash) if you cant find anyone local (whichwould be ideal) Like I said, I love to build planes... it just gives me personal satisfaction and sense of accomplishment. - an mental break from business.

No, we needed to cut back the firewall because without doing it, the motor all the way back on the motor mount and the rear carb put us forward about an inch. that would make it nose heavy, so by cutting the firewall back, we did not have to cut a hole for the carb to fit and the cowl fit just fine. I think we might have trimmed it a little bit. No use having a CG ultimate if it is going to be heavy. We did not add an ounce of weight over what it weighed be fore the motor change. Oh Yeah, it's an RCG 20 gas engine with electronic ignition..

What engine is that? Looks good. Did it impact your cowl losing the 3/4'' of length? Inquiring minds want to know

R/C Airplane Building Services. http://home.comcast.net/~builderforhire/site/ I had Rich recover and update my 10-300. It is the Blue Hawk in his photos on the webpage. He does a fantastic job. Prices were more than fair and he is a skilled and knowledgable flier and builder. He is in GA so there would be shipping but he works with you on that also.

It is almost a good enough price to drive there.

Dinkster75 your number is 108
ThunderBoat42 your number is 109.
Welcome to this great Brotherhood, things are moving faster than I do I am sorry for this delayed post but you know for sure that this the house for any of you who has a Carl Goldberg Ultimate or has the interest on it.
About servos. I guess it all depends on the project value. I spend a while building kits and for that only reason I always use new servos. Of course I own a bunch of used servos that seems to be in great shape, they sometimes have a second opportunity as throttle or aileron servos. Elevator servos are always new and tested servos. The success or demise of an entire project could be reflected on few dollars.
Whatever could be your choice, have your new or used servos tested prior your first flight, it usually makes a difference.
Have a great day Brotherhood.
Alfred.

SANTA Arrived today in a brown truck - YES, the NIB Goldberg Ultimate was in the delivery!!! Its still as Exciting as the very first kit I purchased when it hit the shelf at the hobby shop 20 years ago (my son was just born and he's 21 now!). Hard to believe the first one is now 20 years old. Fibertec still has cowl and aluminum gear although the gear doesnt look like the set I have with the scale swept back angle. I alwaysglass the inside of the kit supplied cowl/pants with 2oz cloth/ca and its worked sofar.
Thanks for the NUMBER!!! Very glad to see there are so many others who appreciate how well these kits build and fly. All of Goldberg kits are fantistic. This one was their high. I really hateGreat Planesdid not continue the line of the traditional (Eagle and Eaglet) and super seller (Ultimate).

Yeah, $350?!?!?? I just bought one at $250 and I thought that was a little high. Knowing Fibertec has the alum gear, fiber cowl/pants avaialble..... I was wondering if there are any legal issues with making templates of the wood parts for those who want to build one and for repair parts. Great Planes purchased the line but I dont think they have any intentions of bringing it back to market.

I just bought one last month (February) off ebay from the same guy... not complaining because (1) I got it... (2) he sent it quick and was double packaged.... but not selling the one I bought.... paid $250 shipped... felt good about that price... I would have been estatic with a 150 price but it will goup.
