RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !
Sounds like your field is a bit crowded mate and running mine at ours would have me doing that in the dark with the hours that i work.Mind you,i've done that here in daylight when i did'nt have a clue what i was doing
Beaver i'd love to tell him where to go...in the old measurements i'm 54 by five eleven by 170lbs,he's 25 by six feet three by 220lbs and kinda looks like a bulldog chewing a bee...nice lekky sailplane,i have the basic model.

Mounting dimensions are given 170mm x 220mm. 220mm = diameter.

About the Saito gasoline engines: How much power difference is there between the 220 and FG-36? Tach numbers, or whatnot...?
Trying to estimate the power level of the new FG-20....

Good question mike,i can't find any.Anyone out there have an idea for simple sound proofing with adequate sound reduction?? whatever that means to most people.I'd like to run a 182 or fg36 soon.
cheers and thanks in advance.

OF,
Two ideas , they are going to sound strange but they do work. Get a couple feet of tubing that you can clamp on your muffler. Take the tubing and either adapt it to a garden hose , or dig a small hole with a hand shovel , put the other end of the tubing in it and put board over the hole. If the people still complain they need to find a hobby. LOL As far as that goes, you might be able to put the other end of the tube in any box or can , but I know under ground its dead quiet.

is this a common problem?
Noticed a bit (1/16" of side play in the carb barrel on my 1.00 while trying to figure out why it wouldn't idle properly and found the barrel locating screw round tip was now more of a rectangle as it had worn away on its sides.
Engine only has about a dozen flights on it.
I'm certain the reason for the wear is the way the throttle linkage is setup. Running music wire thru the factory installed nylon guide tube with a 90 degree bend and a nylon keeper at the throttle arm. So there's a bit of sideways pressure as the barrel is rotated as the distance from the throttle arm to the firewall is less than 2"
Any better ideas for the linkage setup utilizing the existing nylon tube?

This works better than anything I've tried, its friction free, slop free and completely adjustable for stroke length, and center position so you don't have to comprimise your neutral on the servo. I use extra, unused servo arms, a piece of fuel tubing for a bushing and the rod from the swing lever does not require any connectors. It works equally well right on the end of the engine mount.

OK, did a little more research. So, does anybody know where I can buy a few throttle barrel screws, without buying the whole screw kit?
Thanks

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !
G'day Saito lovers all.
I've just had a really wonderful Saitoday. A club near where I live ran a fun fly. A couple of us went from here in Dubbo and I took a near new FA-62 powered Kadet Senior (more or less as a backup), a near new FA-82 powered Astro-Hog and a couple of other models with other engines. The Saitos were the winners on the day. The 82 hauls the Hog round really nicely and sounds the part as well. But it was the Kadet and its 62 that were the stars of the show. It managed 19 loops in 60 seconds with no real effort on my part apart from holding full elevator. The best on the day was 21 and I think I came in third. My "spot landings" were not too bad but of course, my initial practice landing ended up with the plane sitting on the spot!. It was all down hill from there. The real suprise was the climb and glide. A really nice electric glider won with a max of 28 minutes but next best was the Kadet which happily stayed aloft for over 5 minutes after a 30 second engine run putting it in second place. The dear old Kadet was a far more competitive plane than all but the most specialized aircraft and was by far the easiest to fly. The other thing I noticed was the gradual improvement in the performance of the 62 over the day. It was noticeably more powerful as the day wore on. I'm still smiling.
Oh and to add the cream on the cake, I won the raffle for a short form 80% Astro Hog kit. A Saito 40 or 50 I think.
The famous Kadet is the yellow one with the red wing tips. The Hog is yellow too (and that is another story). The Silver P47 has a TT 91 four stroke. It has been sitting for several months and has had only one previous flight. Sadly, she flamed out but her dead stick performance was fine and the only damage was a slight bend to the very soft undercarriage.

What a great day. I'm sure you are happy.
From the descriptions and the picture, that could have been around here close by.
Brings back memories.

Like I said above Mike. Two guys at my field hav 36's nice engines but your not going to beat glow power with gas. Plus the extra weight.
Maybe I should get the video I have of it in action edited so you can see for yourself?

I am searching for the valve time setting from a Saito 450R.

Is there any maintainence manual for this engine?
In general i am searching for all the information there is from this engine.
What can i do to gett the most power from this engine?
Gues i wil not certified to join the Saito Club because i dont fly with it but drive.[&o]

Hello gents!
This is quite a large discussion topic, so I'l probably won't find a direct help for my prob. As such here goes:
I have bought two MKII Saito FA-45 on ebay. Could you please tell me if the current Saito Single manual can be used on these engines and where, if needed, is possible to buy parts for them?
Thanks!
