Default RE: Skymaster 1:6 A10 Build

The equipment install at the front end is all finished now. I've just finished setting up the radio and initializing the channels on the Powerbox for the fuselage only. I'll do a video of it all once the wings are done, air systems tested and luckily no leaks to report. The sequence for the canopy and locking rams has been done, I did add two Tamjets restrictors on the canopy ram which really enhances the appearance of the actuation.

I'm at a loss with what to do with the ECU battery connections. I cant splice a separate lead in to charge from as it must be disconnected from the ECU for that task. So I need to find somewhere they can be accessed easily for charging. I may have to make a small plate under the aft section of the canopy so you can unplug them from there once its up? Still debating what to do.....this is why I love the Jet Cat charge board, it makes life so much easier...

Any ideas?

Some pictures with the first showing the mess I had to tame and the last showing behind the turbine ancillary equipment plate, this still needs to be neatened up, I don't like having fuel lines freely moving around in such a large space...

Hi Alex,

Do Skymaster supply the 'tailcone' shrouds for the pipes as in this pic?

Cheers,
Mark

Hi Mark

Probably best to wait until I've fitted the new pipes and shrouds as there maybe some modifications to be done. I'll keep the thread updated but the fabrication is going to start on Monday so hopefully in 10 days I'll have something to show. I'm hoping these new pipes will improve the performance as well as the look of the model. I'll let Ali know if they are ok so he can order more if he wishes.

I believe the turbo fans and replacement parts are being sent next week as well so hopefully have something interesting to show soon. It's going to be a very cool model Just hope the flying lives up to the looks...

Decals on the gear have been added along with some free hand detail... The photos are not very good, the flash highlights too much and no flash makes them look very dark and over weathered but here's some anyway, looks better in the flesh...

Hi Alex,

I see a parcel from Ralle has arrived then! What sort did you go for? Rub on or waterslide for all the nomenclature??

Cheers

Thanks for the offer Marc

Don't think Ali would be best pleased with that Gonzalo although I'll happily ping you a quote if you give me your email address

Almost all the nomenclature has been applied by Skymaster on the fuselage and there's not that much if you look at Ralle's placement charts for the MIBO versions. Ideally you want dry rub for the fuselage and water slide for the gear.

HTH

Do you think the weathering is too heavy? If so the photography's probably to blame...

The colour of the gear is the same as the L39 you saw when we unpacked the model, it's been done to those specs as we talked about briefly at the time, if your not keen on it when you visit I'll happily redo it for you...

It does look a tad heavy to me. About half way between the white and where we are at now will be ideal please.

Looks good, thankyou. Is there anyway of just toning down the darkness on the centre of the wheels? if its a big problem then dont worry.

The gear has had it's final coat of clear so when I get the chance I'll take some pictures in the sun light. Pleased with how it's turned out. I installed the gear into the wing last night and found that the fit of the gear doors isn't that good, at least not up to a standard I'm happy with. There's very little I can do about it but may try to improve things a touch. Looks good all built up, a few more hours work squaring away the odd job and it will be ready for the fans and pipes which should be with me soon. Then on to fixing the odd bit of transit damage on the wings.

Photos to follow...

Cheers

Thought I'd post a little update about the weight.....

Without ECU batteries, turbo fans, pipes, pylons and ordnance the model currently weighs 21kgs so like Ali said (hate it when hes right) no chance of getting this under 20kgs [] but at least its been built with the 20kg inspections in mind so should be a breeze for Ali to run through all the paper work etc...

I'll post some more detailed weights next week once I have all the extra bits added on...

Cheers

I forgot to mention that its currently sitting slightly nose heavy so with the addition of the fans and stuff at the back coupled with two ECU batteries at the front its looking hopeful that no nose weight will be needed.

Alex, now you might need to add some weight in the tail I couldn't resist! you are doing such an increible work to keep the tail light.
