RE: BME 110 Xtreme first impressions
Let's see if I can get this right and cut to the chase.
You have a 110.
You ran it lean and recognize that you did so.
It seems to you that it overheated faster than you thought it should.
The 110 is not the same as all your other engines.
You only changed the needle a little from "factory settings"
The engine is still within the warranty period.
It is not warrantied against abuse by the owner or crash damage.
You want it fixed or a new one for free.
That about cover it? If so, you should be running DA's because they are the only ones that prefer to take it in the shorts. Rather than dance around this point with design theories, other engines, cooling fin areas, and metalurgy, I'll just take my leave from here and let everyone else draw their own conclusions.

you got most of the symtom right. I don't want anything on here. I only want to discuss the engine problem and find ways to avoid it from happening again. If I want anthing, i'll discuss it with BME. I don't need your consent. You have no authority to decide what to do with my engine. Even if you are BME rep, you still don't have the authority.

RE: BME 110 Xtreme first impressions
you said use different oil other than amsoil - i said - I'll try that.
you said allow the engine to rev up - I'll do that too.
you said adjust the engine rich - I said i'm not touching the needle until i know the safe range and ofcourse it'll be rich.
Those are the solutions to the overheating issue. You, yourself implementing them and you keep denying the engine has no problem. We all know the engine having problem, now we need to find solution to correct it effectively.

I don't believe that anyone said that the engine was having problems, only that it was more difficult to tune correctly and that some owners were having a problem. That's a very large difference between the engine and the owners being the issue.
I'm going to attempt to wrap this up as accurately as I can, based upon where we have been so far. Since you previously stated that I have managed to get most of the "symptoms" correct, I'm going to try for the last few and conclude.
In all likelyhood, you have already contacted BME, either by mail or by phone.
You may or may not have already returned the engine for service.
Understanding the owner of BME from several phone conversations that ran at great time and length, I'm guessing he provided an answer that you do not like.
Again understanding Keith, he probably said somthing to the effect that he would be will willing to split the cost of repairs if any conversations have been held.
This would be based upon your admission of having run the engine lean.
You believe that the engine should be replaced or repaired at no charge to you and are trying to use public opinion in the attempt to gain leverage over the manufacturer.
Most of what you have written has little, if anything, to do with an alledged need to improve an engine design, but to obtain free service.
Very probably ain't gonna happen.
You've been led down a very long path to expose your true motives.
Right now I have to box up a 6.4 I landed directly centered on the prop shaft the other day. The crank is still well within the warranty period but since it's my fault the letter I included with the engine admits that and states for the repair to be one that is charged to me and not request warranty service. I have a whole bunch of servos and other stuff going in for the same reason, also inside the warranty period. A similar letter accepting personal responsibility is included with those parts.
A little responsibility for our own actions goes a long way to building personal ethics and integrity. I'm sorry to say that I feel there's a lot of people out there that could use a little work in those areas.

RE: BME 110 Xtreme first impressions
This is getting better all the time...I just looked at this thread...As far as I know there is no manufacturer in the WORLD using tungsten anywhere in engine cylinders..Care to elaborate ?

RE: BME 110 Xtreme first impressions
I thot all the jugs on the stuff we see were silicon /aluminum with a coating of slippery stuff (depends on whooo-)
some are pretty hard some are not but tungstun? - surprise!
I am leaving out the engines with liners, of course---
Am I one of the last guys who listens to the engine in the air to tell if it is too hot?
I am old -fer shere Dudes . but the " listen to it approach" really does work---
I do have perfect , relative pitch -which helps .
De veloped it as a boy, starting on clarinet.
One engine manufacturer (whom I shall not name here ) - scoffed when I said I tell aprox rpm by just listening to the engines
I miss by a little but not much.

I'm not the one that said tungsten, that other guy did. And I'm with Dick, I use my ears for tuning, not a heat gun or other technologically advanced tool of modern wonder. For some reason I just can't picture Dick with a clarinet Dick, you're not old, just experienced. Old is an attitude. You're flying 3D so you can't be that old...

at least i'm not affraid to admit when I'm wrong. Not like some spy for bme. At first, I thought you are just a rep. Now I know you are worst, either a kiss ass or spy.

"Again understanding Keith,"
No wonder why you are so eager to defend and reject all problems. So sad...

Here it is again.
initially, I thought that you are just a bme rep that's why you are so quickly jumped to the defense and bashed anyone who posted the engine problem. Now I understand why. Actually, you are a big kiss *** because Keith gave you a freebie or just a 007. Feel so sad....

I totaly agree with you on this "A little responsibility for our own actions goes a long way to building personal ethics and integrity. I'm sorry to say that I feel there's a lot of people out there that could use a little work in those areas."
Just be honest, stop kissing ***.

Chris,
You complete and effectively shot down the entire post I had ready to post. When it came up that the thread was not accepting a post I knew something was up. It was a most civilized response, too.[8D] I refused to rise to the bait as I might at other times since my hot button was completely missed. I only have two of those. One's been used already in another thread and I don't think anybody will try to post the other one.
I agree that this one is a bit on the festive side.

I'm trying real hard to maintain my patience.
Posting foul language and making unsubstantiated accusations towards a highly respected member in good standing on this site will NOT be tolerated. Those posts will be deleted as soon as I find them. Mind you, I'm in NO MOOD to sit here and babysit this thread for the next 48hrs. I got better things to do this weekend.
Coming back in after I delete a post and then posting the EXACT SAME foul content again only minutes after I already deleted it is not proper conduct for the site. I sent a PM explaining why it's unacceptable and that seamed to have absolutely ZERO bearing on the decision to keep doing it. There's little kids reading this site. It's family friendly. Or didn't you catch that when you read the forum rules? OHHHHHHHHH, you never actually READ the forum rules. Well, that explains it, but it doesn't EXCUSE it.
This has all been sent to higher powers. Thats not a threat either. It's already been done.
The forum rules are here:
http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_377662/tm.htm
I suggest you spend some time reading them HNPower.
Keep pushing. See what happens.
