Roger,
You are most welcome, and I will continue to support these guys any way I can. A far as the ordeal, all we got was rain and little high wind (40-55 mph), so no real damage (only lost two shingles). Thanks for asking though. Hope to see you later this week at Superman.

Ralph,
We are working toward providing sponsorship funding to offset as much of the team's travel costs as possible. This is the single largest need at this time. Other jet pilots have already stepped forward and provided assistance which is greatly appreciated.
If you wish to become a supporter of the U.S. Team, contributions can be mailed to me (I am the keeper of the travel fund). PM me and I will provide address information.
Thanks to all of you in advance!

Let's get back to more photos from the Team Trials.
Here is a landing I'll bet Sung would like to do over! In competition, nerves make it easy to occasionally "slip-up" when the same thing might never happen when not under pressure. Each of the pilots got to throw out the flying round with the lowest score with the remaining rounds averaged together:

I just want to say Congratulations to all who took the time to qualify and are on the team...
I'm sure whether we win or not You will make us proud.
Always remember that the more Oxygen you get to your Brain before you fly, The better off you will be.

Uhhh.... anybody got a K36 color chip???
My thoughts on the whole builder of the model thing.... As far as I know, no one misrepresented their aircraft at this thing.... Open class allows you a lot of flexibility. I am sure everyone will register in the appropriate class for the big show.
There are 6 slots available to the USA.... Any mix of classes.... so we were really just competing for a spot... Not a spot in a class.
As noted most of us will have 'new' planes for the big show. I have not intention of flying may 15 year old back-up bondo and primer F-16.
Thankfully, I CAN fly it!
Congratulations to all the participents, and great job by the organizers.
David
(I still don't know how he got a shot of my plane rotating so far of centerline! (must have been after the qualifier!)

Congrats to everyone, and all I can say is good luck on the trip.
Traveling in Europe has never been harder and I cannot believe how expensive everything is and how weak the dollar is. Whatever you guys think you are going to spend, double it.
I just got back from a business trip to Sweden, I love the scandanavian countries, Hungary will be a bit different. Hang onto your hats.

RE: The United States World Jet Masters Team!
Dear friends,
I am Winfried Ohlgart from Germany and the chairman of the IJMC ! First of all congratulations to Roger and Steve organising a qualifier and congratulations to all members of the U.S. Team. The world and the IJMC board is very happy that you are back ! We all are looking forward to seeing our friends from the States again in a good and fair Jet World Masters in Hungary.
I have read your discussions with very much interest but all of you, please keep in mind that a Jet World Masters was never won only with static points. You can have the best model ever, but if you are not a very good pilot..... forget it !!!
All of you, please do me a favour and read the IJMC rules und the judges notes (www.ijmc.net) very carefully and you will find out that a lot of good ideas against cheating are in them.
We in Europe also have had your discussions for a long while and now you will find the results in the rules. Just to mention there is no other scale contest around the world where you will find the treatment of the builder of the model rule in the way the IJMC does it.
Please read those chapters again and you will know what I mean.
So again a hearty welcome to the U.S. Team in the world wide community of the best jet pilots ever !
Guys, David Gladwin is paying the first round of beer, I will pay the next two ones when we meet again in Hungary!!!!
Happy Landings
Winnie

RE: The United States World Jet Masters Team!
To David R. and Tim,
I am not going to sit here and give you my complete model history, all I am going to say is that in my experience everyone who has mentioned the word cheating is just a frustrated modeller who no matter how hard he tries can never win a contest. I have known many people like you, its ok just admit that you dont have what it takes, be a man and congratulate those who do, and let us all enjoy our hobby. Last weekend I had a great time with my buddy Bryce, he was on layover and we went out and flew the crap out of Tams new F-18 Super Hornet. I know this doesnt concern you, but what I am getting at is that alot of us have friends in far away places because of this hobby of all walks of life and we really dont have anything bad to say about other people....that is unless you kind of people try to rain on our parade. I know Bryce, Johnny, and Sung pretty well and I am not here to defend them. Why? Because there is nothing they did wrong except travel out of there way to compete for a few select spots to go and represent our country. I can care less if they built the plane or not, as a matter of fact I have seen the way one of them works on planes and I am very happy that he wrote a check instead of picking up a screwdriver. The fact is that everyone who tried out for the team were well aware of the rules and obeyed them to the full extent.
What you guy's are really upset about is that there are guy's out there who can afford to buy the planes you can most likely build, and fly them better then you can. Therefore your long hours in the basement no longer give you an advantage over those who actually go out and fly, practice routines, and get better. Stop being so bitter and accusing people of cheating just to mask your shortcomings. Harness your negativity and jealousy, and go out and be a better pilot. Im sorry that you could only make it into the top 10 at Top Gun, maybe you should have been a little nicer to Frank. As for all the builders who spend thousands of hours in there basements not wasting there time coming to an event where people can write a check and have the same advantage......well dont you think its more of a waste if they dont show up? I mean, spend all that time building and getting your documentation together only to stand up on your soapbox wearing your single glass slipper and shout "I'M NOT GOING"?
Without knowing the rest of the team at all, I can say that I have more respect and admiration for those who where there then for those who did not....and want to complain about it.
Thank you to the United States team for putting forth the effort to represent our country, I wish every one of you luck. I will be joining all of you at the next team trials, I will be bringing something that I didn't build either. After all this crap, I expect the EXPERTS to be there to show us there stuff.......and Im gonna be there to give them something else to complain about.
Good Luck to all,
Dave

Friends
I know all of you and I am a bit confused by whats going on with your comments towards certain members.
I have read the rules for the world Jet Masters and I don't see where anyone is doing something wrong.
Congratulation to the USA Team and I hope to fly in and cheer you guys on for the meet.
