This is the sport line. It will compete with DL, 3MM, etc.

ORIGINAL: 3D Joy

I wonder why it does not have one of the 110 heads.
It will get its "arse" handed to it too .... if it goes up against a DL50![sm=what_smile.gif]
Edit:
Let me restate. This is quality American made engine with some parts manufactured off-shore. All assembly, quality control and warranty work will be done here in the USA, not elsewhere. It is a piston ported engine priced at a bargain $299 that will compete price wise with Chinese engines in its class.
What does the DL-50 go for?? Don't have the numbers for the 58 yet, but it will have the 110/115 jugs

The DL-50 might very well out turn the BME Sport 50, but I know it will not hold a candle to the 58. Cubes are cubes

The DL50 goes for $370,.. a little more than the $299, but you are the one who said it will compete against the DL and 3MM. The DL50 is proving to be a raging bull. Ralph, I know you tested one, and it outpaced a G62 and a couple others. I own a DL50, but haven't run it yet, but just listen to the owners in its thread. They're going goo-goo over its user friendliness and performance. I'll glady "eat crow" if this new BME 50 challenges a DL50. I'll be glad to buy one of the mentioned new budget twins too, .. if its roughly 2 X $299!!!

I am quite sure the DL-50 will out turn the BME Sport 50, but I really doubt the DL-50 will out turn the BME 58. Cubes are Cubes and the 58 will be reed induction too.
Cubes are cubes???---Why will a stock DL50 out perform a stock G-62???[8D]---The bottom line is that how an engine is designed (Carb placement, reed valve intake, porting and etc...) will determine output as well as cubes....I'm not telling you anything that you don't already know...---The jury is still out concerning the BME 58---It should be a good performer as all of the BME engines that I have owned performed well...I haven't kept up with the design of the 58---Is it a side draft carb or reed block intake or rear rotary intake???

I assumed that people knew the basic design differences in the engines I was comparing. Thanks for pointing it out Kevin. . The 58 will be reed induction with a possibility of rear carb option too.

Could be wrong but I thought the DL50 and 62 turned the same.... I am sure Ralph will clarify this. Ya gotta prop them a little differently too so as to hit each engines peak torque. Would be nice to have a dyno test on both.

BME Sport 50 stock muffler
24x8 Bolly carbon fiber 6600-6700 rpm
22x10 Mejzlik 6800-6900 rpm

My G62 Abell muffler, rcign1 conversion
22x10 Mejzlik--7100-7400 I gave a range because I can't remember if it was 7200 or 7400 next time I run it I will post.

Oh by the way, what will the DL-50 spin those two above mentioned props at?? Hopefully someone has run both.

When I tested the DL50 with the same prop as my G62, it was 100 rpm better with its muffler than the 62 was without the muffler...I said somewhere here I wish I was the dealer...
The 62 will outlast it, but hardly anyone will fly either one long enough to kill it....
Reed valve VS piston port, side carb VS rear carb....I have been told there is a Chinese G62 clone about to be released, it's possible I might be a dealer for those...Price will be competetive.....Guarantee will be 3 years, awaiting a prototype to test...

Has anyone actually measured the displacement of a DL50? Are they really a 50?

How much power differance is there between a reed valve, and a piston port type setup? Thanks.

Depends on how the engine is set-up, ports, port timing, etc. "Usually" the reeds have the advantage.

Funny that no one has posted any numbers on these two props (24x8 Bolly carbon fiber 6600-6700 rpm
22x10 Mejzlik 6800-6900 rpm) for the DL, I know prop numbers don't mean much, but with all those engines out there someone must have run one of these two props.

My Taurus is piston port, and I am just wondering if the 58 will have a noticeble differance in power.

Keith,
Will the 58 also be double counter-ballanced like the 50?

I "believe" it will be the same type of set-up as the 50, I know it will not be cantilever. It will have more power than the Taurus 52.
Keith will correct me if I am wrong.

According to DL the engine is 50.8cc, I have not had mine apart to measure. It turned a JXF 22x8 (aka Xoar) 6800 the first day I ran it, it's at about 1 1/2 gallons now. Will recheck when I get a chance. altitude about 1400 feet 83 degrees, high humidity about 65-70% this was after just turning the screws enough to make it run, NOT PEAKED

You gonna fly your airplane with the Japanese or German transmitter in the country it came from
With maybe the Czech made engine ?
Or the "assembled in USA" chainsaw cylinder engine ?
Dave Johnson published a list of ALL the parts of his engines and where they came from...All over the world....
Try going to a US company to buy engine short blocks.....
The last made in USA radios were ProLine, made on 21st ave in Phoenix...About 30 years ago...Mine is a 1972 Custom Comp, converted to a MicroPro 8000 and narrow banded in 1990...Still works just fine

It will have more power than the Taurus 52.
The T-52 has greatly out performed any 50cc class engine I have seen to date, so I'll be real interested to see how accurate that statement was. BTW, that T-52 turns a Menz 22-8 woodie at 7,500 r's if you use rpm as a power gauge. We've both seen the tach and know it. I don't know what it does with a similar sized carbon prop. Since I'm not into doin' the "go fast" thing I haven't tried a 10" or higher pitched prop on it.

If two engines are equally designed well, there is no substitution for cubes. As mentioned earlier a reed valve doesn't hurt either
