ALUMINIUM IS HEAVIER THAN PLASTIC AND THE STOCK PLASTIC PARTS THAT CAME WITH THE CAR ARE VERY EASILY BEND OR BROKEN.
WHAT SHORT OF CRITERIA IS THAT?

RE: Official Tamiya TT-01 Thread
I just ordered a TT-01 to play around with when I get bored. I mean who can pass up a $70 beater car. I've been reading that I'm going to want/need ball bearings and the alum prop shaft, so I think I'll buy that tomorrow at the LHS along with some blue paint and a servo. As for electronics this car comes with an esc (a $70 car!), then I'll use my MX-3, I'm buying a cheap servo, and then I'll stick in the green machine motor I have laying around. Oh and I have a bunch of 3300 beater batteries. Anything else I should know about this car or any highly recommended upgrades that I should know about?

wouldn't bother doing much else...you should consider oil filled shocks as they do make a difference...and maybe tyres. If you're just messing around with it I wouldn't bother with loads of aluminium parts as they're mainly for looks!

I wouldn't try to do any big racing with a tt-01 unless it has some major mods to it, like what Jang did to his rusty. Ultimatetraxxas.com Other than that I really woundn't try.

Oh yeah race it in a tt-01 race but I wouldn't try anything huge in a race with xrays and corallys.

I would even if they outran me they really wouldn't have bragging rights all they could say is they outran a TT-01. The TT-01 may not be a "racer" but as we all know luck happens. Anyway it is all for the fun of it anyway. Enjoy Yourself and Relax.
Thanks

What chassis has your mate got? TLs have quite a high centre of gravity so aren't brilliant at high speed cornering, oil filled shocks help. Get some decent tires. If you want straght line speed get a decent battery, motor and esc. You have a decent esc and motor, just depends what your mates running!

RE: Official Tamiya TT-01 Thread
Hello... Hopefully someone can help me... I just purchased a tt-01 rtr about a week ago. I got the BB upgrade in her, along with the alluminum drive shaft and upgraded suspension I am interested in putting in my orion method 19t motor and keeping the stock gearing but i can not seem to find anything about the stock esc's capabilities. I just dont want to fry it because i drive this thing like every day. I like to drift with it but i would like to have a little bit more straight away speed. Any opinions and help would be appreciated.

RE: Official Tamiya TT-01 Thread
Hi everyone, its took me while to read the full 48 pages but now i'm done! Got myself a TT-01 hopped up with loads of GPM parts but quite honestly, its not what i expected. If anyone could share some fine tuning tips would be great. Here are my concerns:
1. The aluminium drive shaft, it doesn't appear to spin perfectly. At the front end it spins almost perfectly but at the rear, its like its bent and you can see it when it rotates.
2. The pinion gear. I currently have the car set up at 58/23. It doesnt look or feel that fast to me. I'm using a 27 turn Peak Racing Hellfire RS24 motor and the standard speed controller. Batteries i have are a Tamiya 1400 Ni-Cd and a Carson 2300 Ni-Cd. Also, the little screw that tightens the pinion gear to the motor, i can never fully tighten it. Although the screw itself has grip, it won't tighten because, and this is difficult to explain, my hex key just spins inside the screw. After a couple of runs, the pinion gear comes loose and the motor just spins on its own.
Here is my car:
Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Cheers.

a) i dont think your drive shaft should be bent
b) get some better batteries, any Nimh over 3000 mah will do
c) replace that grub screw, so you can tighten it properly
happy racing

So would you recommend me getting a new drive shaft? It works fine but it just doesn't look very smooth. Batteries wise, i been looking at a pair of 4000mah batteries so they should be better. Where could i get a replacement grub screw though?
