I'm sure you have but trim the plane to fly upright and level at full throttle hands off. A good test to check for thrust angle problems is to build up some speed and go as straight up vertical as possible and see if it pitches toward the canopy or the belly. You may not get much vertical with that .46 but it should be enough to see if it pitches. If it doesn't want to go straight up without pitching you may indeed have a thrust angle dilemma. Good job getting it down deadstick, that fact alone says you have enough elevator even if it was at full up.

Im running a 46 fx with a 10 x 6 apc is that going 2 be enough or should i go 2 a 10x 7 or 11x 6 0r 11x7 ??

A 10-6 is considered a 40 sized prop...you should go up one notch...

I used the 10x7 APC this morning on my OS 46, best prop so far. I have an APC 11x6 to try, maybe the winds will give me a chance to try it out Monday.

As stated, a 10x6 isn't quite enough prop for a .46FX. Go with a 10x7 or 11x6. An 11x7 will most likely be too much.

Yes, I was using an 11x6, then put on the 10x7 - the 10x7 works much better

Just received mine in the mail yesterday. Got the engine today. I went with a Tower Hobby 61. What is the best prop for this setup. Started putting all the hinges today.

Has anyone tried a bobcat on skiis yet? I may just have to...I cant wait til April or May to get this thing in the air !!!!!

can someone explaine the tank setup for me. I read where people is putting the tank stopper towards the front of the plane and running their line back over the tank to the engine. I also read where some have put the stopper towards the engine and doing a 90 bent to the line\clunk inside the tank.

What the reason and best setup for doing this.

The reason is for proper fuel flow. Whatever the orientation of the stopper(fore or aft), the fuel pickup(clunk) needs to be at the rear or towards the carb of the engine.

Forward velocity pushes the fuel to the rear during foward flight so that's where the pickup must also be.

Both placements work and it's usually whatever the individual favors the most. I prefer to have the stopper pointing towards the radio compartment and running the lines back over the tank. I resist placing bends within the tank itself. Too hard to get at to make any "adjustments", LOL...

I forgot to mention that some fellas also add a hopper tank, usually 2oz or so. The hopper insures a more even fuel flow. I know the jet jockeys use them alot. I tried one once but found the additional plumbing really didn't improve performance in the airframe I was flying at that time.

Yea I just flew the bird on its maiden with a 45 picco with a tuned pipe. With the pipe and all the extra tubing for a hopper it didnt run right when i put the plane into different angles it wouldn't suck fuel good. So i didn't chance trying to fly it with that setup up so i ripped out the hopper and it ran fine.

Just don't let the engine run while sitting still. For flight, set needle for high speed. Depending on the engine and prop you may be fairly rich on low throgttle settings. The perfect solution is a remote needle. This isn't necessary for most of the prop sizes listed here though.

In this application (this particular airplane) I don't think it is too much of an issue. The engine is out in the open and has lots of surface area open to any air movement. I have spent more time than I wanted tuning on the ground and have experience no problems. I have watched the engine such the exhaust through the prop very efficiently. That said be sure to keep it slightly rich and do not let it go lean.
