First, always make sure you're using a 4 cycle glow plug as they have a better element for the demands of a 4 cycle engine. In fact, I use a 4 cycle plug on my 2 cycle engines and notice a difference in performance. Regarding your burble, that sounds more like a carburetor adjustment issue than a glow plug matter. Regarding the plug that came with your engine, I have bought 4 Saito engines that came with plugs and have found the plug to be good and reliable and they last a long time. When I replaced them, I used an O.S. F type plug. I have found the O.S. plug to also be very reliable and they last a very long time which is good because they are expensive. You'll probably get a lot more recommendations for other plugs as this is a loaded question that I have seen on this thread before.

Over the hundreds of runs you'll get out of an OS Type F plug, it is an insignificant price difference. A penny or two. No plug is better. Some are close, maybe. I definitely respect the opinions of these guys that have been running engines longer than I have by a factor of 20. But they won't tell you that any plug is better.

For real, you guys actually change your glow plugs? I think I do it just for the hell of it every once in a while.

I spend the kind of money a premium engine costs and it better run balls to the wall with no issues because otherwise it was wasted money.
I have no problem making an adjustment as simple as a better glow plug if that brings out the true potential of an engine.
I've had many 2 strokes that absolutely needed experimentation with different plugs to find the one that made it run right.
Also with more fuel efficiency.

I'm sticking with Saito SS plugs right now. They seem the same as OS Fs, and are priced much better.

If the coil in the plug looks good - do not throw it away. I put them in a little container in my flight box to be run some other day.

i still have all the original SS plugs in all three of my saitos going back 5 years and have not had one fail yet. i think that the plug in 4 strokes are and easy target for blame on bad tuning. JMO

hello to all!
does anyone have a mount for a saito twin 90 mark 2? the one i have has a couple of extra holes drilled in it, and its driving me nuts! i also have an older 45, can it be mounted horizontaly on a 25 size cub so the cylinder is seen on the right side of the cowl? what do you guys think? i was also thinking of using the twin 90 on a 80 inch cub. just looking for some advise. i have sort of collected older four strokes for awhile and was thinking of putting these to use.

Is there a velocity stack available for the Saito FA-100? I've looked all over the Horizon website, and can't find one for the QQ engines...
I'm putting one in a GP Super Sportster 60, and was curious if anyone else is flying the same setup? What would the recommended prop size be? I've been flying 2 strokes since 1982, this will be my first 4 stroke airplane and trying to get a grasp on this new technology... I'm thinking a 14-8 or 9 would be a good matchup for this airplane.
What do you guys think?
