I'm staying with Penz air cooled. It's been working great so I'm not switching. I run it at 50:1.

The vent hole is on the edge of a thin metal plate with 4 screws on the corners. Scott installed a nipple on some of them...the newer engines I think in the past year? If you look at post 1438 there's pic of the pump nipple...this is not the one. Look at post 1435, that's the one.

My carb does not have this vent nipple then. I bought the engine almost two years ago, so Scott may not have been putting it on them at that time. I do recognize the plate with the four screws (mine is on the opposite side as yours), so I guess I could drill/tap and run a vent line back into the fuse as Jezmo stated he did on his G26.

Any particular place I should place the nipple, or wouldn't it matter?




As for the oil, I'm using the Saber. I mixed it at 50:1 simply because my mind cannot accept the concept of running anything at 100:1. I think it's too much oil in the mix as there was oil on the belly of the fuse after a couple of flights.

Install the nipple in the existing vent hole on the edge of that thin plate. There should already be a vent hole there. You can solder one on there.

Flymeaway, I would only add to Joe AP's advice that once you tap/solder the nipple into the existing vent hole to make sure to Dremel off the excess threads on the backside of the plate so that the rubber diaphragm is not abraded in any way. Probably blatantly obvious step, but I wanted to mention it anyway.

I finally maidened my EF 74" Yak yesterday. between yesterday and today, I probably flew a total of 10 flights, so now I have a good idea of how the plane/engine combo is working. I am using a 21X8 TBM prop, and this thing is a screamer! It flies so light that it's difficult to slow it down for some acrobatics.

Can someone suggest a prop that would slow the plane down a little?

I would go to a 20x8 Mejzlik or Menz over the 21x8.

Mine turns a Moki 20X8 at 7250 rpm and Bambula 21X10 at close to 7000. I can only get it to turn a TBM 21X8 at 6200 or so. It's my experience that the TBM really loads the motor down. It really won't spool up well

Spooling up isn't a problem. I'm getting around 6500 RPMs with the TBM 21X8, and this engine only has around 2 1/2 gallons through it. I'm very impressed with the performance. I guess it's time to start looking for a 20x8 Mejzlik or Menz.

I tried several props on mine and finally settled on a PT Model carbon fiber 21X8. It turns a solid 7200 rpm.

I bought a Brillelli 46GT last year for a project that never started - motor is still new in box.

Flew will first flight of the day, landed and after a refuel and recharge just would pop and that was it. Plenty of spark but no real compression unless I put some oil in the spark plug hole and then it pops but wont run. I am looking for some advise on who might be a good place to send it besides my local mower shop who I assume will just not get the concept. Thanks Jack

For those who care, I sent off my sick B46cc to Mark at Brillelli Customs on Tuesday and got an email from Mark saying he received it on Thursday. He also said it would take a couple of days to check it out and comply with my little wish list of a new muffler and spare prop bolt as well as bring it back to life of course. Although it had very little run time I was just starting to like that little engine too. I hope all goes well and I really would like to know what happened to cause its little departure. I did have a hard prop strike a few flights prior to the engine going silent. So I may have wacked out the timing abit. My compression guage was telling me something else was wrong too. Time will tell and I will let you all know how Mark does. Jack

The verdict is in. Got my B46 back from Mark on Tuesday. All was as promised and he even fixed my bent exhust tube on the muffler while he had it. The hard prop strike wacked out the timing and it was a little rich. $45 to tune and test including return shipping. I would use him again if needed.

Anyone have the original tuning instructions and oil mix % for the B46??

Glad you got yours back.

I sent my B46 in to Brillelli right before the unfortunate dissolution of the company and never got it back. Still don't know where it is, despite placing an inquiry with Mark.

Yes, it's a 46cc Poulan conversion...a strong reliable engine, have it in my TFGS P-51....At the time of purchase, Scott made me a Pitts type muffler for $65.00 as I recall... It tunes just like any 2 stroke engine....once broken in, it will really sing...

46 cc Poulan is correct.
Mark said he had another muffler which was on the heavy side and would have the lighter style soon. I asked him to leave my original (lighter) on but send the replacement muffler in the box. He didnt send the spare muffler but did fix my original which was bent. I flew the plane today and he did a good job, it ran fine. The muffler keeps getting loose though even with the safety wire. Just loose enough to make that engine make that ba da sound a loose muffler makes in flight. Thanks for trying to find the original instructions.

I have the original instructions but no scanner ,sorry.
High needle is set ;1 3/4 from closed position .
+- 1/4 of aturn in winter
Low needle is set at the same specs as the high and of coarse this is just a starting point.
Oil mix is 40:1 for break in and 50:1 thearafter.
