Thanks, I always like looking at pictures of cute chicks.
Here is some pix of my "Tankland" without the zoom and cropping. I shoot the movies and stills here. I zoom most pix way in and use the distant background to make the pix look more real. These are like a backstage shots. The canyon goes through the middle of the place, Tankland is on the rim. I have built roads into the canyon but they wash out each year with the snow melt. Each year I improve the sections that endure and re-route around the washouts.

Nice pictures and interesting looking country.Allways like to see pictures of the countryside where members live.Looks like a deep canyon, and was wondering if there is a creek or small stream in the bottom of it.?Kind of reminds of of the south central part of Oregon and some spots on the eastside of California. Is that Rattlesnake country.?

The creek is snow melt, it runs into July, then after that, only when it rains for the rest of summer.
We don't have rattlesnakes here, it gets too cold in the winter for them to survive. At 38 F below zero the ground freezes down about 4 ft.
I do have lots of other critters on the property; brown bear, deer, elk, mtn. lion, bobcat, linx, racoon, rabbits, eagles ( both bald and golden ), badgers, turkey, lizzards and ants etc... This skinny teenager was hanging around yesterday whils I was driving the Jagdpanther.
Most of the property is wilderness. Some of it is so rough I have never been there in the 16 years we have had the place. Only the area around the cabin and my 2 acre tankland have been developed in any way.<br type="_moz" />

This is Tankland HQ ( the cabin ). I built it myself, with help from the wife and some friends. It's small, 300 sqft. and has solar power but no running water. I can charge tank batteries while the kids watch a DVD.
This summer I put a hickory floor in. That has used up so much time I have not made a tank movie all summer, sorry guys.
Just to show how nutty I am, it has a 3 color digi camo roof.

Well done sir! And the countryside is truly beautiful. I'd love to have a quiet retreat like that.

I agree, nice.Nothing wrong with peace and quiet and being where you can do things your way.Nice looking deer picture and he has a respectable set of horns.I was born in 43 and grew up with no indoor plumbing on a very small little farm and had no indoor plumbing until about 14 years of age.( wouldn't trade those days for anything).A lot of people in those days this was the "norm"...

Here's a great reference book for those interested in US WW II Armor. Weapons of the Tankers, by Harry Yeide, Zenith Press 2006.
Found it at Barnes & Noble and looked through it. Covers History of Battalions, Light, Medium, amphib, variants, tank crews and supporting elements as well as radios, uniform & gear and working conditions. Very well documented with units and places. Many good shots of M-2s and early M-3s. This is the most accurate and well documented WW II armor publication I have seen and runs about $25. Worth checking out for ref material.

Amazon has it...........under $15 for new, a used book is even cheaper. It's an interesting book.

Pah:
Ya gotta remember, those published shots are sometimes as much as three years old...
I checked out the ones around my apartment in Ottawa, and I saw my nephews '08 Malibu... which went BACK to GMAC in Dec of '09. Thats when I began driving his butt about. And the leaves were on the trees, so its suummer '09... making 'em about 24 months old.
Then I checked the ones around my parents place south of town (Long Island/Manotick) and they were even older, as the construction to put the gas line under the west branch of the Rideau wasn't in progress! At least 3 years old there.
Best way to judge isto check surrounding items, things you know changed... gives you a time frame for how old the shot is.
WhiteWolf
PS: The Google maps of Ridgeway all have snow in 'em now...

WWMB, the snow is in the Google maps cause snow is on the ground most of the year here.
I know the pix are a few years old, the tipi came down in a snow storm the spring before last... now the fire ring has a sappling growing in it.

OK, since we've seen your digs, how about some of the rest of you post photos of your AO? Here's mine.
Photo of the rusting German arty left over from the war is actually for the distance shot. What you see in the distance is The Valley of the Shadow of Death, aka the valley where the Light Brigade charged during the Krimean War of 1854. One can still rummage thru the vineyards there and find bits and pieces left from the charge.

Try MicroMark Wolfy. They have a great deal of small scale tools and equipment. they are probably the best source for this stuff i have ever seen.
They hve drill and tap sets that go from 1mm up to 5.5 mm ith the taps that go along with that size. They also yhave them in standard sizes like 0-90 up to 3/16.
They make a lot of stuff for model rail roading so if it exists they'll have it.

They are actually pretty complete, just the sighting devices are gone. Museum moved them about 18 months ago, and there are plans to clean them up. Before, they've been sitting in place for about 60 years. Ground there is rock hard, but you can see how far they have sunk in.
