guys now a question: I geared the car at 23/58 and it just flew (acceleration and topspeed), then stripped the gear with a stone (damn parking lot rocks!!), now i installed 25/55 which should give me a damn fast top speed, but i aint getting it!!, what could be wrong, any ideas?
Howzit

A 17T motor using std rubber 65mm tyres has an ideal roll-out of 26-27. The 23/58 that you were using was a bit high @ 31.16 The 25/55 gives a rollout of over 35 which is way to far out and would give you fantastic top speed if you had a long enough straight!
Using this ratio you risk overheating your ESC and/or motor! The ballpark ratio for a 17T is 21/61 giving a rollout of 27.05 or 20/61 giving 25.76.

Have you got a list of the GPM parts that you are importing into SA?

Cheers

Graeme

Hi All

There has been much comment recently over the use of matched battery packs! Most of the comments – (apart from the one from SerenityRacingRC) indicate that most people do not know what “matching†really means and just assume that a matched pack MUST be better! They usually are!

Simplified View: Take 1000 cells and sort them by their voltage/charge/discharge rate. They will vary from perhaps – 1.219V down to 1.1815V. Now you sort them into groups of 6 with the closest voltage rating – they are matched! (Much Simplified)

Of course the ones that are matched @ 1.219 are a lot better than the ones matched @ 1.815 – but all are matched packs! The first ones will sell for double what the second ones go for!

If buying matched packs – check the labels of the individual cells! Assuming the matcher is honest then these will tell you what you are actually getting!

All this talk about matching and nothing about chargers! To maintain a matched pack you need a proper charger / discharger setup. You need to be able to discharge down to 0.9V per cell using a discharge tray or similar and be able to charge @ 6A/5A with a peak detect of 0.03 / 0.02.

Using a cheap charger will mean that your expensive matched pack will be stuffed up quickly!

Matched packs are for serious racers only! They use each pack only once per meeting (why I don’t know), so for a 3 heat + 1 main = 4 packs!

A TT-01 doesn't need a matched pack - just buy a zapped IB3800 / IB4200 pack and you'll have all the power you need!

Cheers

Graeme

the tt01 tub strips screw holes very easily and i was using thread locker, so i didnt know it could lift (the cover that is), it lifted and bang, now ive cable tied it tight on there

Howzit

Time to buy a new tub!

I read recently (can't remember where!) that thread locker should only be used on metal to metal and if used on plastic it can stuff it up! If the 4 screws that hold the gear cover lifted then I guess they were right

What have you cable tied it to?

Cheers

Graeme

For everyone building a TT-01 currently, I would recommend to put some semi-permenant loctite on the "grubscrew" that attaches the gear to the motor. In both my car and my brothers car it has come off, and since we loctited it it hasnt come off. For us it came off halfway throught he first test drive, and ive driven maybe 30 more times without fail.

Well since you don't race with us, I wouldn't expect you to know where the catch phrase came from. It is a running joke within our club. <sarcasm ON>Your comments certainly sound mature<sarcasm OFF>

I don't need any drama, I'm in this hobby to have fun.

Nope sure visual

And stop advertsing the GPM parts. They are made to a price. You get what you pay for, and with these GPM parts you don't pay much, so work it out for yourselves.

no see, before i became importer, i bought all the hop ups for my tt01, then i bought some gpm parts and was impressed, so i decided to start importing, the comments i give on the parts is from a personal level, not business, none of my clientelle comes to this forum, so i have no reason to advertise

Not when in racing alot of people need to add weight to their cars to reach the minimum weight

Haha but also they do it in a way to add stability to the car, or addit all up front, well just in particular places to help the cars handling.
