My crawler came in the post today and like most I was eager to see the truck.Picking up the box I heard something loose inside...uhoh I thought... However, It was only one shock spring, and the lower collar which had come loose, easy fix. After a quick look over, and a snugging of all the screws, I notice that the front diff is locked, and the rear diff is not. Isn't this backwards? I also noticed that when the knuckle screws were snugged up the steering bound up.Possibly the bushings are a fuzz too short, another issue to look at before a proper thrashing. On a better note?... there was a pair of extra pinion gears with shaft in the box too. The receiver is a three channel,TX looks to be only 2. The battery box for the TX will fit my KO,so thats a plus. Time will tell, but I think it may be geared a little too high, and the shock springs are too short, and too stiff.

Hi,
I just tightned up my springs with the nut on the stocks, some people like a real loose suspension. My pesonal one is geared pretty good, I have no issues with it not being able to climb something, if it cant climb it will spin the tires. I am not big on the crawler scene but I think they like the front to be locked so it will pull over the rocks but I may be wrong. I will check the screws on my steering kuncles but i have no issues with it binding or them coming loose.

RE: ****OFFICIAL ROCK CRAWLER THREAD****
I spent a little more time with the crawler today, and must say I am impressed so far. The stiffness of the knuckles was just a little flashing, and very close tolerances. The extra pinion gears were the same as the ones already installed, but not finished as well. While I had the diffs apart I shimmed the pinion shafts, again an easy adjustment.I have to say these axle housings look tuff! Strong!, and very well molded. I decided to change the motor gear and found that there was not enough room in the motor plate to allow the gears to mesh. A simple flat shim made from sheet brass moved the motor plate closer to the spur, allowing the 11 tooth gear to mesh nicely. While it dramatically slowed the top speed, it sure made for better low speed control.Run time are hand cramp long, and neither the motor or the speed control had any temperature in them at all. The tyres make nice squealing sounds as they slip or spin adding to the experience. Mine came with the multi-colored body, although I would have preferred the plain black one. I'm going to change the radio to take advantage of my 3rd and 4th channels, but the stock radio does seem to work well and has good features. I'll save it and fix a basher for one of the neighbor kids. I bought mine off ebay(sorry) but for the money to get yourself into the crawler fun without breaking the bank, it's a great value.
Please don't take any of my opinions too seriously,I've been an auto technician for a long time, and tend to be a little picky. As of the 16th of this month,I retire from the car biz, looking forward to some quality time with the toys!!!

Thanks a heap! I have a small machine shop for hobby stuff,so simple mods are quick. This weekend I may be able to get some video up. Meanwhile I think I need the rear steer kit and a 9kg servo(stock servo), and a diff locker, would you happen to have these? Future plans call for a pair of reduction boxes and maybe a dig. I think this truck will make a great platform for modification and experimentation.

Ok ran into a slight problem today. When I turned the crawler on, the red light on the ESC stays on and there is no response from the esc. The steering doesnt work, or anything else. No throttle and the ESC has a constant red light.
What does that mean? If its the ESC, then why doesnt the steering work? What do they have to do with each other, unless my Tx or Rx are jacked up and maybe thats causing the red light on the esc????
Please help fellows. Thanks

Does it stay red if you have the transmitter off or on?
Sounds like its not getting signal, check the crystals.

You da man!!!!
It was the crystal on the receiver. I had to take it out and put it back in for some reason.
Thanks a bunch! You saved me from depression

Does anyone have the model number for the rear diff metal gears for the crawler?
I got mine used from someone who didn't shim it and the popping is getting on my nerves.
Thanks for the help

Hi,
I am trying to find out for you, I am pretty sure its rc-015m and the pinion is rc-017m but i am not 100% sure, you can use the complete diff and pinion from any of the megap's, mxt, mxb or mtr. They are all metal gears, ring, pinion and the spyder gears.

Hello all! I had a lot of fun with the himoto crawler which caused me to build a comp crawler from WK and axial parts(a junkyard dog). Which kinda left the himoto on the shelf.I decided to make a present of the truck to a kid across the street who seemed deserving.Well, he has had a blast with it,and it had held up fine till this morning when the receiver crapped out. I tried other crystals,etc.etc. I'm sure it's the receiver. What radio system is compatible with himoto radios? Anyone have a good receiver for sale cheep? Will the ones on the himoto web site work with the stock transmitter?(they look different than the one that came in the crawler) Thomas and I go crawling on large rock pile nearby and have good fun,he's only 10,and learning fast.He lives with his grandparents who are my age,and we laugh and hootnhollar like the kids. Crawling kicks butt!

I need a spur gear for the crawler I gave to the kid across the street, but did not see it listed on the website. Can I use a regular spur gear like a robinson? The pounding Thomas has given this thing would kill a lesser machine. I think dirt got to the gear and stripped it.
Thanks!!

Hello, this is PepeDalton ,from Madrid ,Spain.
I do have a Himoto Rock Crusher crawler, since about two months.Since then ,I have only been able to run the crawler justa couple of times.
Differential teeth are jumping all the time....
Transmisions(center shaft drive), are falling out constantly.........
Does anyone had similar problems ?
How do you fix them?
Does any one got the item number for the seme diff madeout of metal?
Does anyone knows more parts for impoving the crawler?
Thanks for your help

Welcome to the forums, I have had the crawler for over a year with no issues except the diff gears stripping, Iput the metal gears on and havent had an issue since. I dont use it that often but i think others like kuppler will chime in and give some insight. We have upgraded shafts available.
You can shim the diff gears tighter with the nylon gears to keep them from slipping.

RE: ****OFFICIAL ROCK CRAWLER THREAD****
Hello
I just order today the metal gears and the upgrade drive shafts from the people of Xport -pro; I did not knew you were partners.
I will improve the car to make work propely, then I will improve more parts.
Does ,anyone apply a reduction gear box at the end of the motor? I reckon will do work better.
I found it too fast to crawl, even after swaping the original 15th pinion for a 11 th pinion.
Do you think that a reducction gear box 4:1 will do better?
thanks
