I found out what happened to the Speed Gem 12T motor. It got toasted because the two wires melted together.
The stock silver can really does make the power of a mosquito.

Melted?
The wires fell off the motor and the solder melted? Is that what you are trying to say?

Maybe that explains it better. Basically i think the wires were too thin and had too much resistance so they created too much heat and melted together.

don't bother with deans, for the most power, solder your ESC straight to your motor.

I'm just happy that the battery didn't get toasted too.
We just saw the motor smoking and practically ripped off the body to disconnect the battery.
Phew.

RE: Official Tamiya TT-01 Thread
Hi everyone,
I have a problem with my TT-01 (sry if wrong place to post)
Setup: TT-01, RS540 Sport Tuned Motor and Heatsink, Upper arm kit, Alloy Propeller shaft, Ball bearings, TEU-101BK and Futaba MJ Radio Gear.
1. I have symptoms of Glitching (Interference?), inconsistant power-on (throttle response). I have swapped my motors out to see if that was the issue, but the problem still persists. I was previously running my radio gear in a Kyosho V one S in the same area with no interference problems at all. This points to the ESC(?) I know... not too sure. Can someone please help/ offer opinion?
2. I have a concerning humming noise comming from my Spur/ Pinion. Sounds like they may be wearing/ not running smoothly? Can someone please recommend the next optimum step up for spur pinion, geared for a bit more speed, but not to much stress on motor? or somewhere I can look?
- Can someone please help!
Thanks in advance.
regards,
Unique1.
P.S -> I'm a drifter

RE: Official Tamiya TT-01 Thread
hi,. im new,, s osorry if i post to the wrong thread. i got my tt-01 a few weeks ago, i raced 1/10 cars a long time ago, when the frog and original rc/10 was the hot ticket. but i got this tt-01 ( sti version ) and its great. ive got some nice upgrade stuff for it, 19t motor, 4200 battery, novak esc, lots of hop up parts. more on the way if i can find them. i got most of my parts from ebay, none of my local shops have parts for it. ive found some but not a very big selection. i hate ebay, then you have to wait for weeks to get your stuff. anyone in SO Cal ( LAX area ) know of a good hobby shop that carries tt-01 hop up parts?
anyway ide like to get to a track, i know of so cal reaceway in huntington beach area. probly head there some time soon. anyway here are some pics of my sti tt-01. comments on it please, and advise if any...

Wha! Patrick! Your close by to me. We should met up sometime, I wanted to take my tt-01 to the tracks over there. The thing is... I'm running into the same problem as you are. I went to every hobby shop imaginable around LA, they all don't carry some or at all any TT-01 parts. Me and mindwreck thinks cause the factory is so close by... they can just order it and would arrive the next day. There use to be this one store The Hobby Place, but they had to downsize but they would hook me up with good prices. It's out in Monterey Park near Alhambra.
Nice ride by the way.
