RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !
i still only run power master. they do have a new four stroke fuel wirth 15% oil.
going to higher nitro is worth the cost to me. i usally run 25-45% in all mine unless every one else in the same planes are running OS engines then i will stay with 15% to be close to same speed as them. If you need extra power then the extra nitro is good.
i would stay away from cool power.
Also dont run that heli fuel either unless the oil is below 20% which all the ones i have seen are 22% and higher.

Stay away from regular Cruel Power if you don't want rusty bearings
Use Omega 15% . You will like it. Will run like your Power Master did

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !
Just a few things to throw out, powermaster fuel is garbage, i have broke in 2 engines 1 with powermaster, and one with coolpower/omega mix, and the engine with the coolpower/omega mix runs soo much better and is much smoother, it also starts much easier. i have not heard of any engines running cool power rusting. i put marvel mystery oil in all of my fuels, it is a rust inhibator, and a penetrating oil. Just so everybody knows, castor oil will not hurt these engines.
has anybody bought any byron fuel from amainhobbies?, and how much is the hazmat shipping charge?

stephen maybe that extra oil is whats helping that cool power. i know i will never use cool power ever again.
the very best that i have ever used in my 32 years of R/C is Red Max.
power master hasnt let me down yet as far as quality goes.
Byrons was a good fuel back in the day but dont find it around much any more.

Yeah, there was a sale on Saito engines a month or two back. 30% off, I think? Never have money when something like that comes around.

I now have 4 of the Saito 1.25 engines and only use the 17 x 4W, 16 x 4W, and 16 x 6. All run very well on this engine and have goobs of pulling power.

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !
Hi there, I recently finished a long and cumbersome build of a H9 Sopwith Camel, I put a Saito FA 90 R3 in it and the plane crashed badly on take-off. We have a bumpy grass strip
and the plane nosed over 4 times on take-off attempts and on the 5th go, I managed to keep the best upright, but at an angle out of the wind. The grass was quite long next to the field so i needed to abort or go for it. I made the mistake to go, the plane did lift off in ground-effect, and as i pulled back on the stick, it climbed, but immediately dropped a wing and went in. Hard. I am not impressed after spending so much time building the plane, and had to fix a lot of H9's faults with the kit. The plane was obviously too heavy for the Saito as it weighed in at 4kg (9lbs)...
I shelved the wreck, and stripped all the servos, motor and receiver out. I have just built a World Models J3 cub, with 1800mm wingspan and I put the Saito in her instead. Piper actaully did make a real radial engine version and it was called a J3P, it was a Lenape 3-cyl radial engine! So the Cub still looks scale[sm=wink_smile.gif]
This time around the plane comes in at 2.9kg so I hope the Saito will pull her around the sky a bit better.
If the weather plays ball, I will maiden her tomorrow.
Hold thumbs[sm=tongue_smile.gif]

That engine has a lot of internal friction and will not turn high RPM but it has a good bit of torque
I have a 13 X 6 on mine but it might do a 14 X 6 if well broken in (at a lower rpm)

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !
I am running a 13/6 prop on it at the moment, and am getting 9700 rpm, so not too bad, about what Saito says it would do...
It should pull the Cub round ok, I hope.

There we go again, fuel controversy for Saito's 4 stroke. See page #712. My next question. If I use Omega 15% for the Saito can I use it on my OS 51 too? (it is 2 stroke)

BANNISHMENT!

BANNISHMENT!
Bob
I don't think that is a word, but if it were, I think it would be spelled "BANISHMENT", with only one "N" in "BANISH".
