No short field landing practice for you! (Full flaps, power on, rotate, etc)
Sort of related - - - The other day, I noticed that the local ubiquitous RS store had some sonic distance measuring modules.
A quick look made me think of "weight on wheels" functionality on some full size aircraft, The vibration and so forth makes
use of a mechanical weight on wheels sensor for RC aircraft a bit unreliable.
But, inhibiting gear up until the airframe is at least a foot or so above ground makes theoretical sense.
Coupled with the usual Arduno module, an air speed sensor, and throttle sensor, it might also be possible to add
an automatic gear extend function, similar to that on some full size Piper light AC.

I am unable to set a preset fail safe...
1. Insert bind plug and turn on receiver, wait for rapid flash.
2. Set controls to preset position and turn on TX. When receiver stops flashing fail safe is complete.
My receiver never stops flashing?

There are various usages and this is one of them: You have to assign the setting to the flight mode you want it on. It's usually in the switch field, and just switch that field to flight mode and then select which flight mode by highlighting it.

The boxes show what is called the Active Positions. Depending on what screen you're on, selecting one of those will enable the current mix or other function so that it is either active or inactive in the specified position.
It works the same way throughout the entire radio, although with curves (Expo, Throttle, etc) there is a slight difference in the rules. But the concept is close enough that it's intuitive once you understand that it means "this function is active with the switch in this position."

Andy, Been reading your posts here and elsewhere. Great stuff and love that you're so active supporting everyone. I'm diving back into the hobby and am working out which radio to purchase (DX18 or the XG14) and have a couple of questions about your product: 1) On page 11 of the manual it states that all the XPlus channels are 512 bits resolution and have variable frame rates up to 88ms. A 42% IMAC airframe can have up to 13 channels, only one of which (the ignition cut-off) would be acceptable at this rate. Am i reading this correctly?
2) Will Spektrum ever introduce it's own version of a serial data bus? 3) Will the DX18 be upgraded to include the new features of the DX9?
This is a good time to be looking, though, as Show Season is when all the manufacturers show off their new products for the next year or two. We'll be at the Nuremburg Toy Fair this week - search for threads about what we and others show.

Looks like the DX18 is about to be released with voice alerts and wireless trainer link.
Does it also include all the features of the QQ version?

I heard the Dx18 is comming w a software up date which is going to give us voice alerts and a lot more models, also avatars. In this way is going to be as advanced as the new Dx9.
Does anyone knows if is out yet?

There is a NEW DX18 coming out which will have added hardware to give it the voice capabilities of the DX9. It was just announced yesterday.
On another forum you'd get lots of information directly from people who attended the show, and people like me (who developed it).

But it is like buying an iPad 2 six months before the iPad 3 was released. (Yep I did that) Try getting a free upgrade from Apple.
Having said that, I was very happy when I was able to upgrade an early DX8 to DSMX with a free firmware update. Hopefully they can give DX18 owners some of the new features via firmware.
