Pool noodle shopping tonight. May have to do a bathtub test to see what it takes to keep it afloat.
Yay, picked up a bunch at the Dollar General...A buck each. Seems like a good Idea to seal the hole on each end? More to float....

Finally got the boat in the water! Just a couple tweaks and off she went. Still dialing the engine in. Funny how one click of the throttle and she comes on the pipes and off like a rocket! Had to go for a paddle several times due to engine quitting at throttle transition. Just need to get the needles set. Major difference from the stock prop and the Dasbota stainless. Need to add the auto bailer too, she takes on a good bit of water in rough conditions. All in all I am pleased with her performance and expect it to get better.

check to see you are taking on water through your drive line. Some refer to autobailers as autosinkers. Lots of people love them, But I would see if I could keep the water out before adding them.We have been building a lot of boats.

I am of the mind it's coming in around the hatch, Lots of rough water to run in. I do have some runs where there is very little in the boat. I also think I need a little up trim on the stinger to lift the bow. I should have elongated the hole in the transom a bit to get it where it needs to be.

Just difficult to get all four needles set, You would think they would match carb to carb, I don't think that's the way it's going to be though. Busted a ball link on the rudder. I think when you start breaking stuff you are getting there. Picked up a couple Dubro Monster Ball links, they should hold up well.
I really want to get this thing right, need to paint and get those decals on.

Thanks Tom, I had a lot of good advise, made some good choices with the Phantom, Hanson pipes, Speedmaster hardware, Dasboata prop and the RCMK twin, which cranks on the second pull every time! Wasn't expecting that. The next boat will be a lot easier, not easy but, easier. The gps will be here Monday.

Either one will work,I normally build the MTI with a standard strut and a 4" rudder. Here is a 60" cougar cat we just made.I have not trimmed the hatch completely down yet that is why it looks like it does not fit right but it will when I am done.

Here are some more boats coming out of our little shop, this is a 72" carbon fiber Sea hawk and a 68" Tomahawk also in carbon fiber both boats are great running and very hard to beat for value at 350.00,Either one of these boats will run great on today's singles.

Here is a 72" super hawk we just finished up. its a lot of boat for 350.00 and its carbon fiber. This boat is getting twins so he will be installing his own rails. I laid the engine in there to show the size of this boat.

here is a 40" race v we are making, so you see not all of our boats are big, this boat would also be great for electric. Std lay up is 1.5 oz mat backed by 5.8 oz carbon fiber twill.we are getting ready to put the transom and rails in next.

rails and transom are prepped as well as the deck and the deck ring on the hull, transom rails and putting on the deck are all done in one step. we use a external deck ring to keep the clamps from leaving indents in the deck. tomorrow i will pull it out of the mold and grind the overhanging deck to fit the hull nice and flush.

Hey Tom I had the pleasure of meeting you at the pond in Melbourne I have an osprey very stable hull. Now I am ready to build a cat. I have 5 26cc zenoha based engines in several boats now so that is the engine I will be using in a cat. What hull do you recommend for speed and cornering? And how long does it take to build a hull I can see you have been busy.

Right now we are pretty much on schedule so we could probably have a boat made in 10 days to 2 weeks, We are normally that long back to get a order on the build table. All of our cats are 350.00 except the extended MTI, They will run good on a .26 But they are not big power on today's standards. So you need to go into this comparing apples to apples. the heart of any hull is the motor and any boat will only be as good as the motor. If you are running alone you will probably be very happy with the performance of a 26 even the bigger cats will run well with it as there hull gains more lift. But boats like the 50" Thunderbolt and the lightning cat will most likely be faster just because they are smaller.Keep in mind the MTI's and Thunderbolt are not shoe box fit boats where the deck overlaps the hull and they both need seam work (filling and sanding) and they are meant to be painted, the thundercat and lightning cats have a finished seam.you are not that far from me I would be more then happy to help you with your build as well.

Did not realize it was a small Thundercat picture, By the way the thundercat is a great boat. i raced mine for years and did very well. I raced with a guy in jacksonville one week end, His name was Gerald Ingram, I might have that spelled wrong. But he helped me and I helped him. I won all 4 rounds of racing that week end, Turns out Gerald was the running back coach for the 1999 jaguars, That is the best team they ever had. He gave me and my girl friend at the time passes on the 50 yard line sitting with the families of the players. for the play off game with Denver Bronco's. Then he had us build a Thundercat that he took in the locker room when they where killing the Dolphins. It was Dan Marino's last foot ball game, as well as the last coaching job for Jimmy Johnson. He got about 75% of the team to sign the boat. Anyways it was just a good boat story I thought I would tell. Here are some better pics of the T.hundercat

Here is a dagger hull we are finishing up now. so far we sprayed the gel coat, then laid up the deck and hull with one layer of 1.5 oz mat and 1 layer of 5.8 oz carbon fiber twill. This is a shoe box fit deck and i hope to blow the parts out of the mold today, then i will grind them down and join them in the deck mold to hold everything straight.
